The rude Receptionist

When they both got back to the Walter mansion, no one was present except for his Dad. He strode forward to him, with a smile. It was obvious that his happiness was fulfilled and he couldn't ask for more.

Holding the bag, he sat down. "These are the clothes I shopped for. They are not the most expensive but they are not bad either." A flash of a smile appeared on his face as he spoke, making his handsomeness glittering more.

Jason glances at the bags and uses his eyes to inspect the clothes in it. "Wow, the clothes look good and like you said, they ain't bad. Go change and come back downstairs."

"Alright." Darren took the bag and ran upstairs to change into one of the clothes. He didn't bother changing into expensive outfits, instead, he wore less expensive ones.

After he was done changing, he went back downstairs to still see his Dad seated in the exact position as before.

When Jason noticed Darren standing and staring at him, he motioned for him to come closer. "Come here."

Hearing his words, Darren didn't think twice before moving closer to him. They both sat down and talked about a lot of things until almost nighttime.

"Are you going to your room now?" Jason asked as he saw everywhere was slowly getting dark.

Hearing the question, Darren sat straight and checked the window only to see the cloud getting dark. "I won't be staying the night here." He muttered.

A perplexed frown appeared on Jason's face immediately. " What did you say? Why won't you be staying here?"

" Nothing, just don't feel like staying over for the night." He made up his mind last night that he won't be sleeping here as he doesn't feel right for no reason, so he decided to just let his dad know.

Jason wanted to persist and refuse his words, but on seeing the resolute expression from him, he stopped himself. It sure would be meaningless if he tried persuading.

He gave an exasperated sigh. "Alright, so where will you be staying?"

Darren could notice his Dad's expression was solemn and not willing, but he chose to ignore it as he knew if he speaks about it, then Jason might try persuading him again.

"I will be staying at a hotel, but don't worry, I'll be back tomorrow to see you." He quickly said the last part to make his dad at ease a little.

With an unwilling gaze, Jason nodded. "Fine, you can go but make sure you fulfill your promise of paying me a visit tomorrow." He added

Seeing his dad nodded in agreement, Darren got up with a smile. "Bye." He waved his hands to Jason as he left the Walter mansion.

When he got outside, he didn't bother using the car, instead, he just took a cab and asked to be taken to a seven-star hotel.

When he got there, the cloud was finally dark and he strode into the hotel.

From afar, he could see the receptionist who was dressed in an office black and white suit. With a steady step, he approached the reception desk, Darren smiled at the receptionist, hoping for a warm welcome.

"Hello, miss." He greeted, with a smile

However, instead of receiving a friendly greeting, the receptionist gave him a cold and disdainful look. "How may I help you?" She didn't even bother acknowledging his greetings, instead, she asked her question, flatly.

Darren chose to feign ignorance of her attitude and went ahead to reply to her. "I want to book a room for the night."

She didn't bother raising her head to answer him, instead, she tapped on the counter with her perfectly manicured nails as she said, "I'm sorry, but there are no available rooms at the moment."

No available rooms? With a baffled look, Darren darted his eyes.

He knew that a hotel of this size couldn't possibly be fully booked. His is a seven-star hotel for crying out loud, so what the hell was she saying?

"Miss, this is a seven-star hotel, so how can you say no room available?" He asked, but the receptionist chose to act dumb by not replying to his tackles even glancing at him.

He considered arguing his point further but decided against it since the receptionist wasn't replying to him and turned to leave, feeling a mix of disappointment and confusion.

Just as he was about to head towards the exit, he felt a sudden push from behind. Turning around, Darren saw a short chubby woman, heading towards the receptionist. He decided to wait for what would happen.

The woman walked up to the reception desk and, with a smirk, said, "I need a room for the night." Her voice was laced with rudeness and arrogance when she spoke that Darren even felt the receptionist might shout at her with no remark.

However, to his greatest surprise, he saw the receptionist's modification into an astonishing transformation. Her previous sternness wasn't away instantly, and she greeted her warmly, offering a genuine smile. "Of course, ma'am," she said, her tone entirely different from when she had spoken to Darren. She quickly handed over a key card and began to explain the hotel's amenities and after that, the woman left.

Darren couldn't believe his eyes and ears. It was clear that the receptionist was treating the rude woman with the utmost respect, despite his behavior.

The difference in the situation of both the chubby woman and him left a bitter taste in Darren's mouth, but he held his composure and slowly walked back to the receptionist.

"Miss, what did I just see? You told me there was no room available, but just now, I saw you giving a key to that woman?" He asked as he tried to control his anger.

The reception sneered. "Yes, you did see me, what can you do?"

Darren was utterly furious at her current arrogant behavior even after being caught. "What can I do? I am here to use a room and you lied to me that there is no room available and yet you are asking me what I can do?"

Despite Darren's furious look, the receptionist rolled her eyes at him and returned her gaze to the file on the table.

Noticing this, Darren got even more pissed off. Without wasting time, he slammed his fist on the table making everywhere tremble due to the force.

When the receptionist saw this, she almost jumped up in fear, but after seeing that the table trembling was caused by Darren, she flared up immediately.

"Isn't it obvious that I didn't give you a room because of your useless appearance!" She shouted, making the passerby stop by.

Darren was also dumbfounded and a perplexed frown appeared on his face, thinking of the next thing to do.
