Chapter 5

Manager Wiles stared at him, wanting to teach this young man a good lesson that he was not going to forget in a hurry.

But he was going to take it slowly. For the fear of death was more revered than death itself.

"And what makes you think that I should even give you a chance when every one of us already knows that you are going to waste my time?" Wiles said.

His words were very stiff like a piercing sword going right through the heart and slicing it into two halves.

But that was for every other person because as for Leonard, he wasn't worried, even for a single moment.

With thoughts running into thoughts, Leonard leaned forward and went ahead to say. "Because I can't afford it." He replied.

Everyone laughed at him and the rest of the workers could not help but gossip right to his face.

"I have never seen anyone as stupid as that before."

"I am sure that he is just one of those psychiatric escapees." Another one of them said.

"He is so dumb. Who does he think is going to fall for such crap? He is the biggest form of the century for shorts.

There is no way that manager Wiles is going to flex a wrist. Not even when he doesn't bugle even for high-class people.

I'm sure that he is going to be chased away from this place any moment from now." They were way too assured.

But to their biggest surprise, this wasn't the case. Rather Wiles leaned Forward, staring right into his eyes, and went ahead to say.

"You said that you want a trial right? Then I can let you have it. But on one condition." Leonard could sense the hot stink of his cunning rising through up.

But the beauty of the game was having to beat the master right in his own game. Thoughts ran through thoughts.

Everyone thought that Leonard was going to pull down the act and come plain already but that wasn't going to happen. He went ahead to say.

"And that would be?" He inquired.

"You will lick the dust off from my feet and be my slave all your life." He replied.

He frowned immediately. He never knew that such a man was going to be so extreme.  "I should never have expected more from him either way." He thought again.

"Then what's in for me? If I can afford it?" He Inquired, their eyes interlocking into each other.

"Then you can get any one of my statuses that you want." He replied.

There was tension in the air.  Nobody thought that this was going to happen. Even the lady that he was trying to help could not fathom the audacity.

There was a twitch in her facial expression.

"What does he think that he is doing? Going against someone like Wiles."

As much as she appreciated the help, she could not allow anyone to go to such extreme ends for her, not when they barely knew each other.

She stepped forward, her steps drawing Leonard's attention over to her and their eyes interlocking into each other.

"I appreciate your help but Wiles isn't someone to go against if you are not someone of so much class.

Do back down. I will be able to take one from here." She tried as much as she could in her powers to persuade him but he was being so stubborn.

"Don't worry, I have got a few tricks under my sleeves that I think might work." He said.

Wiles smiled. There was no way that the transfer was going to work, hook or crook.  He had gotten someone else under his clutches.

"You can still back down. All you need to do is kneel and apologize to me for running your mouth all through the way and I might let you go."

"Mr. Whales." Leonard worded his words carefully to agitate Wiles. "That would only happen in your dreams."

Mr. Wiles frowned. He had so much audacity and he could not wait to teach the punk a good lesson that he was not going to forget in a long time.

He turned over to one of the staff who seemed to be a little bit busy on his computer but his voice was still keen to hear what was going on there.

"Prepare me an invoice right away." He ordered and the young man panicked a little bit at the sound of his boss's voice.

"Okay sir, I will get it done right away." He responded.

Meanwhile, manager Wiles drew out to get the payment machine. Even though he could command anyone to bring it over to him in a snap, he still decided to do it himself because he had interior motives.

Just like he had done in the case of Sofia, producing a card slot machine that only accepted cards that were sufficiently funded without anything less than a trillion dollars.

No one in  Heaven's Gate had such an amount of money, at least in cash. And even if they did, it would be distributed to a large amount of banks as the saying always went.

A dark smile was evident on his face as he whipped the top of the machine with his handkerchief.

He didn't care if the young man was telling the truth about having the money or not, there was no way that he would be able to purchase the machine.

The invoice had already been handed over to Leonard and he ran his eyes through it. The house that Sofia wanted to purchase ran up to about ten million dollars.

Even Sofia was trying to dissuade him but he tried not to listen, assuring her that he would be able to purchase it.

"He is such an arrogant fool." The workers in the place gossiped amongst themselves.

"I am sure that those who made the adage about the fly and the corpse were thinking about him because I can't believe anyone would be so stupid."

"Let's wait for the trick that he will try to pull off." Another one of them said.

Soon, Leonard emerged with the hectic weight of the machine in his hands. One of the guards quickly helped him out by placing it on the table.

He was out of breath for a while and quickly went ahead to say. "We only accept card transactions." He replied.

He produced his black card with a gold emerald at the center of it. It was a stunning bit weird at the same time. Not passing for all the popular cards that were known and used in the city.

Once again, gossip went around.

"He even dared to bring a fake card over to this place. So much audacity." Another one of them said.

Wiles couldn't help but frown at such behavior because that was the last thing that he was expecting from him.

But again, that was only going to end his plans even more and make things easier for him.

After running his card through the slot, he intersected through a few keys before pressing the final button.

There wasn't much anticipation in the air since most of them thought they already knew what the outcome was going to be like.

But he was barely a few seconds when the machine made a loud beeping sound that echoed throughout the hall like a loud horn.

"Payment by Leonard Storm successful." The loud beep from the machine sent an earthquake of shock breaking through the hall.
