Chapter 6

 It wasn't possible.

Hearts were frozen. Feets paralyzed, jaws lifted far apart with shock. The only person that didn't bulge was Leonard.

Even Sofia was surprised and confused at the same time. Thinking that he was only putting on an act, she never thought that he would be able to afford it.

Then why was he looking at all the rags? Could it be that he was a member of one of those high class families in the city. Her heart ran and her mind processed a large amount of thoughts.

But none of these could place a definite finger as to what was really going on.

Wiles was stunned beyond this world. Even though he had the perfect funding in his account, the transaction wasn't supposed to go through.

At the moment, Leonard now looked different in the eyes of the people that were mocked and looked down on him.

But knowing that he had a lot to do, Leonard didn't have much time to spend there. The leaned Forward towards manager Wiles and stole a glance into his eyes.

"Whether you accept defeat or not, you have lost already. So you should let this lady go and fulfill your end of this bargain." He finally said.

But Wiles was yet to be jerked off from his thoughts as the words streamed into his hearings.

Hearts raced, teeth clenched. Waiting for what was going to be the outcome afterwards. But it wasn't so hard to decide in this case.

Wiles who had never lost before elated out angrily. His shock disappeared into thin air. He scrambled off to the card, his anger rising so badly that he could hardly breathe.

"Snap." He tried to snap the card into two but after multiple attempts, there wasn't even a scratch on the body of the card.

Wiles's eyes popped out from his eyes sockets, his feet currently numb on the floor.

There have been tales of legendary cards in the city. One that was owed by an invincible family, covering all works of the city.

Even though these families were already well known, they had their assets scattered all across.

Could it be?

A large lump went down his spine.

Soon, Wiles stole a glance at Leonard and l his previous fears disappeared in an instant. Looking like someone who had barely fed in a really long time, there was certainly no way that Leonard would be an heir of some invincible family.

He was just a normal guy who was going out of the way to win over the city's pearl and a little malfunction in his machine worked to his favor.

But it wasn't going to stop there.

"Mr. Wiles, are you even listening to me?" Loaned frowned, jerking him off from his thoughts.

For the very first time, he pushed forward a smile before going ahead to say.

"I have to admit that I lost this time. You have been an extremely worthy opportunity so I would let you and Miss. Sofia leaves since I have nothing against her." He replied, faking being forgetful.

"Huh?" The frown on his face deepened even more. In all thoughts he never thought that the fool was going to stoop this low.

But Leonard wasn't the one to bugle. He wasn't trying to be righteous, all he wanted was an upper hand.

"Do you have a problem with that Mr. Leonard?" The card had read his name out too.

"Are you trying to say that you are forgetting the bet that we made long ago? If that's the case, let me remind you.

You said I could choose any of your assets if I am able to afford it. Are you going to back out on your words now?" The frown on his face deepened even more.

"Oh that. I thought it was a mere puff you know and didn't know that you were going to take  it to heart."

He brought another ten dollars bill and pushed it over to him with these sayings in his mouth.

"You can have these. I am sure that they are going to save you the stress of coming here." He said. The workers watched emotionlessly.

Sofia frowned at how cunning Wiles would be.

But could there be anything that could be done?

Daring to go against Wiles was nothing other than seeking one own death.

But leaving that place this way could only mean that he had lost. And he had made a vow to himself. He was already tired of losing all his life. He was going to cause a drastic change that the world was going to marvel at.

This was just going to be the start of it.

"I never knew that you would be like this Wiles." Leonard removed all the formalities that were attached to his name in an instant.

"But aren't you afraid? That this might go  to the public and make a ridicule of your name and the image that you have tried to build all through the years?" Leonard inquired.

But an outburst of laughter was exactly what he got instead. Wiles cracked out so hard that a drop of tear escaped from his eyes.

Then he paused. Pushing further with these words on his lips.

"So what. You think this little incident is what is going to stain my reputation. You must look at me like such an insignificant fellow. But I wouldn't be expecting much anyway.

You are only one of those bum trying to cover up how poor they are just to get their ends." He replied.

"If you think that I am going to leave without it, then you are the biggest fool that planet earth has ever seen."

Wiles was flaming hot with anger now, his face was wholly as red as a tomato. Nobody had ever insulted him before, talk less of a boy in his mid twenties.

Wiles walked over to Leonard until he could feel the hot steam of his evil breathe.

"You have just five minutes to leave or I am going to make you regret being on the surface of the earth."

"I would love to see how you intend to do that." He replied.

Everyone in the room was stunned. The heck did Leonard think he can reply to Wiles' threats in such a manner.

Wiles had cunning ways of getting what he wanted. But in the case of a top class person. But for someone like Leonard who was barely known, he didn't need to be discreet.

"What do you think you are doing?" Sofia whispered into his ears. She has gotten into enough trouble already. And already Seeing the young man as her responsibility, she only wanted to leave that place already.

"Do you realize who Mr. Wiles is? Don't worry about the compensation,my father has a lot of assets and is saving my life. He would be more than glad to offer you any of which you want." He replied.

But Leonard didn't bulge.

"I really appreciate your kind gesture Miss. But this is not only about the compensation. Some people need to be kept in their places." He replied.

Meanwhile, Wiles kept staring at his watch, thinking that they were going to scramble off sooner or later but Leonard didn't move an inch.

"You seemed brave. It's such a bad thing to prove people like you see their makers earlier."

"After sending cowards there first." Leonard replied.

Furious, he brought out his cell phone from his pocket and placed a call cross to an unknown contact.

Within the spread of a few minutes, a card sped into the place. Weaponed thugs armed in every aspect intersected into the joint.

Everyone was frightened, their heads bowed so that they were not going to get themselves into the dispute.

"There is certainly no way that he would be able to escape from this."

"I would have scrambled off a while ago if I was him. Now look at how much trouble he has gotten himself into."

"I am sure that soon enough, he is going to be on his Knees, pleading for mercy." Another one of them said.

Soon, the dozen or thugs scrambled off to Wiles, and bowed. "Boss."

"That's the punk over there." He pointed out to Leonard. "Teach him a good lesson that he is never going to forget all his life and afterwards, throw him out." He said.

Noting that it was already a done deal, he went towards a chair, took a popcorn and started popping it into his mouth to watch the drama that was going to unfold.

"He is surely dead." A worker let out a depressed sir from her mouth.

"And he is so handsome. That face is going to be ruined now." Her sigh was of the outer world.
