CHAPTER 3

"Tsk, how fitting, what a perfect match. You felt he was the best choice because you had no idea about his famous reputation of being a playboy I assume." Warrick teased, he still doesn't get how someone of such reputation would be better than he was.

Yvonne Cooper was silent, she had nothing to say, it was like everything about her was blank, she was indeed overwhelmed with guilt and probably regret.

"Well even a popular rich playboy is way better than a loyal poor and dirty constructor. You roll around with dirt all day but nothing to show for it, worthless." Mrs Sarah Cooper retorted.

Oliver Dwayne laughed out loud and said;

"I heard that Yvonne had a constructor for a husband but never could I have guessed he was just an idiot." He then continued; "I could bring a 100 million dollar contract to the table of the Coopers, but what can you possibly do? You have been here for years but nothing. How dare a lowlife and a loser like you talk to me in that manner?"

"Oh shut it! Are you certain that you, a renowned playboy like you, actually got the 100 million dollar contract for the Cooper's? That's highly unlikely because Acorn Craft is the most powerful company in the district and would never get entangled with you who has such a wonderful reputation." Warrick stated

Oliver Dwayne was of course aware that what he was saying was the truth, he became speechless but in order not to lose face, he simply uttered;

"My family got an order from Acorn Craft, so during the meeting, I personally brought up the Coopers to be capable of handling this project, so that's the reason. Anyways, why should I explain anything to you, you have no idea about all these things."

Warrick sneered and wanted to say more but Yvonne who had been silent all through this interrupted him.

She has had enough of the things happening right in front of her.

"Warrick Enough!!! I didn't call you here to come exchange words with my family and guests, the reason why you are here is to get your things and leave."

Without saying anything, Warrick looked at her coldly and went upstairs.

Mrs Sarah Cooper then uttered;

"I will keep an eye on him, so he doesn't steal something valuable from us."

Gray got into his room, and began packing his outfit, this room was meant for him. He has long moved out of Lina's room since he was treated poorly by her family. So this room was the only place that gave him solace.

He doesn't have much to pack out anyways, he was a construction worker and as such didn't need much clothes, he opened a drawer and then saw a necklace.

This was a gift from his mother, he doesn't wear it around his neck for fear that he doesn't lose it at the site on an unfaithful day while moving a brick or something else.

He decided to only take that and his little backpack, he turned to leave but was stopped by Mrs Sarah Cooper she had been peeking through the door to see what would happen.

"I knew it, I just knew you were going to take something that doesn't belong to you. You are a thief, I have always known this."

"What are you insinuating?" Warrick asked as he was surprised.

"That necklace you are holding, I saw you take it out of the drawers, and it seems to be an expensive one, you can't afford it, therefore it isn't yours, but my daughter's." Mrs Cooper uttered.

She thought since it wasn't hers, it was for her daughter so seeing Warrick take it meant he was planning on selling it off to stand back on his feet, that was not going to happen as far as she was concerned.

This got Warrick upset, he was filled with rage and said coldly;

"It is my mother's, so you can stop making a scene." Warrick stated.

"Are you taking me for a fool? You must think I am one, don't you? Give me that necklace." She uttered as she tried to grab it off Warrick's hands, the latter stopped her from accomplishing her mission.

"I have had enough of you, just stop this whole shenanigans of yours, I didn't steal anything from you." Warrick outrightly said.

Seeing how angry he was, she began to yell out loud;

"Help!! Help me, let me go… why don't you just kill me instead?"

Yvonne heard the voice of her mother crying out for help and quickly rushed upstairs, she saw her mother on the floor and got furious.

"Why the hell would you raise your hand on her and speak to my mother in such a tone? How dare you, Warrick?" Yvonne Cooper said and helped her mother off the floor.

"I cannot believe this." Warrick mumbled.

"I understand that we are divorced now, but you should never talk to my mother in such a tone, you should respect her." Yvonne Cooper uttered.

"Shouldn't you have asked what happened before jumping into conclusions?" Warrick asked, clearly upset.

"What do you expect me to think happened when I saw my mother on the floor and you towering over her?" Yvonne retorted.

Warrick sneered and said outrightly;

"Have you forgotten that your mother here is a drama queen? Always making up stories, besides, she fell on the floor on her own accord after hearing your footsteps I am sure. And as for you, you should have asked me what happened before blaming me, are you that eager to paint me black?"

Yvonne Cooper was silent and surprised at the way Warrick spoke to her, he has never for once acted that way since they were married. He has always been humble and kind, never has he gotten mad at her like he was at that moment.

It felt like he was a different person and she just couldn't put her finger in it.
