As the cab arrived, Abigail suddenly became skeptical of if she wanted to take her children to go see Frank in jail or not.
They had questioned her about his whereabouts for a while, and she had been telling them that he was away on a business trip.
She had gotten fed up with their pestering. Frank had also indulged her in bringing the children to see him.
She had refused initially. It was an embarrassing position that he got her into, and even her staff had begun to talk.
She could not begin to imagine the trauma that it would impose on her children, that they would think back later in life that their father, who was supposed to be a role model to them, had served a jail term.
<Samson looked back at Hannah who had her face to the ground as he held open the door for Dante. He immediately got the message, but he decided to play along. Dante got in after exchanging a glance with shirtless Samson. He moved to where Hannah stood, slanted against the kitchen counter, and handed her the bouquet in his hands. She fake smiled at the gesture so he would not feel bad about it."I thought that it would be a nice idea to come to get you for dinner myself," Dante began with a charming smile playing on his lips. He looked strikingly handsome in a pair of crisply ironed trousers and a shirt that was rolled up to his elbows. Hannah looked disturbed as she glanced at Samson."Who is this?" Dante asked her without batting an eyelid. Hannah was at a loss for what to say. She did not know which relationship to protect between the father of her kids and her boyfriend."Meet my friend, Samson. He just came in for a few days for a business meeting, so he decided to crash at my
Declan stared at the sight before him for a moment as he tried to process what was going on before him. He only got out of his reverie when Samantha rushed to him for safety. Daniel stood there and just watched with a mischievous smirk on his face. Declan was speechless for a moment as he looked at his brother-turned-stranger and villain before him."Is this supposed to be a joke?" He asked, finding his voice at last. Daniel knew that he had done something wrong, but he did not feel like he needed to apologize to his brother."Well, I won't deny that you have a beautiful wife," he said with a mischievous smile playing on his lips. "I've never seen pregnancy look so sexually appealing," he added.Declan had had enough as he rushed to his brother and punched him in the face. There was a small ruffle between the two men, and none of them was willing to let go of the other."Stop it, both of you," Samantha cried out, and when they did not budge, she proceeded to make an effort to sepa
"I'm sorry it was a stillbirth," the doctor announced. "We tried all we could to resuscitate the child, but we could not help it," he added.Declan was not sure he had heard him correctly. He stood transfixed for a while. So many things were happening at the same time and it was difficult for him to process it all.Doctor Pat still stood there and Declan looked up at him again."Is there something wrong with my wife too?" He asked with trepidation in his voice. Doctor Pat nodded."I know that this is a lot to take in, but I still have to tell you again that her uterus was damaged from the impact," he explained.
Three days had passed and Samantha would not see anyone, even though she had been moved to a private ward. She barely allowed anyone to touch her, aside from the doctor and a nurse that had been assigned to her for her care.Declan would always watch her through the blinds as she stared outside the window with her back turned to him, at the tall hospital walls. The doctor had said that she was slowly losing her mind and he had been worried ever since. He had barely gone home since the accident. He worked, ate, slept, and even bathed in the hospital. He had told the doctor that it offered him a sense of intimacy with her, even though
Once Declan had given her his permission, Abigail went ahead to get Daniel arrested. It was not hard to find him. He had not been to the office since the incident, but he had been home, in the new apartment that came with privileges as part of company staff. He had panicked when he heard the police sirens from afar. He knew that Declan would surely want him to pay for his actions. He did not have anywhere to go. He had no place in the city any longer. The previous year, some fraudulent activities had been noticed in his Fintech company, and it had been closed down by the authorities. He did not have anything to fall back on afterward. He had been on an extravagant lifestyle and had squandered a lot of money. There were no viable assets in his name and he went broke. When he found out how much wealth Ferdinand, his father, had, he thought that the only way to get access to it and fill his empty pocket was to gain his pity and murder him afterward. He, however, had an excellent
A whole week had passed, and Samantha was still locked up in her ward, refusing to see anyone, with her back only turned to the door, and giving Declan the privilege to glimpse at her from the blinds.Declan had begged the doctor to allow him to see her, even against her will, but he would not let him. "She might become violent, and that is not what we want," Doctor Pat said. For a while, Declan was quiet. It was possible that he was not hearing alright. "Are you trying to say that my wife is losing her mind?" He asked the doctor. He was silent for a while."I did not mean for you to find out this way, but the past loss and these present losses are too much for her to handle," Doctor Pat explained. "It has tampered with her mind in some way, and if she gets upset any further, she might flare up," he added.Declan was rendered speechless for a while. This was all too much for him to handle. Here was his wife, a woman that he thought he would live the happiest moments of his life w
Hannah had just seen her children off to school. She was grateful for the bus, and it eased her stress. When the school year started, she was saddled with the responsibility of driving them every day.Declan had promised to get her a driver, but he never seemed to remember it because of how busy he was with work.He had been her major source of support and had asked her not to bother about anything. He had put a roof over her head, bought her everything she and the kids needed, gave her a monthly allowance, and she was to begin to work the following month in Doctor Pat's office, courtesy of him.He had accepted her and the kids
Daniel was on the loose. He felt like Superman, who had suddenly escaped everything that was thrown at him.He had tactfully answered the questions of the detectives at the police station, and he had gotten them so confused that they had no other option but to let him go.He was afraid nevertheless that they might charge him to court, and he needed something stronger to stand his ground than his little tricks every time.He arrived at the office early on the Monday morning of the first week of the first month.Everyone respected his presence as a son of Ferdinand, and he gloried in it.He demanded to be shown to the office that was meant f
