Chapter 38

Hades felt a strong presence, something immortal he couldn't place his hand on.

Ivan had taken up a new mortal body after the war, so it would be physically hard for any of the new gods to physically identify him.

Furthermore, he had masked his immortality earlier, so Hades wouldn't recognize him.

Ivan, on the other hand, had perceived death and knew instantly that the one person who smelt like the dust of death was none other than Hades, he hadn't even bothered to change his name, bold of him, Ivan had thought.

Hades went on with the questions, trying not to seem suspicious of his client, feeling a little uneasy from the hateful stares his client said his ex-husband was throwing him.

“Were you at the scene on the day of the murder?” Hades asked.

Vera glanced at Ivan before answering.

“I was,” she said, pausing for effect, “for a few minutes, then I left because I got a call from the office.”

“But you were taken for questioning from the deceased house, how come?” Hades asked further.
