Dorothy carefully opened the gift box, and to her amazement, she found a beautiful necklace inside that shimmered and sparkled, resembling a genuine diamond piece. Scott, with a hint of arrogance, informed her, "Mrs. Greene, I got this necklace for you from an auction. It's worth 20,000 dollars."
Dorothy was taken aback by Scott's words, left momentarily speechless. Despite her astonishment, she managed to express her gratitude, saying, "Ah, this, I love it. Thank you, thank you very much, but it's too valuable. I can't accept such an expensive gift." However, her actions spoke differently, as she clutched the necklace tightly, fearing it might be taken away from her.Hayley chimed in, advising her mom, "Mom, you should give it back."Trying to reassure Dorothy, Scott replied quckly before Hayley could convince her to return it, "Mrs. Greene, don't worry about the value. I specifically looked for this necklace because I knew it would fit your taste. Just take it as you are accepting it on behalf of Hayley. Besides, we are a family, and it's normal for me to give you gifts."Dorothy's emotions were apparent as she appeared on the verge of tears, but she gratefully responded, "Thank you very much. You should call me mom. Calling me Mrs. Greene sounds like you're alienating me."Scott responded gently, "But I'm not yet married to Hayley. Doesn't it seem wrong?"Dorothy replied with conviction, "What is wrong there? You are the only son-in-law I approve. Sooner or later, you will be married to Hayley."Scott showed respect by bowing his head and said, "Thank you, Mom." Dorothy felt happy to see him being respectful, and she thought, "Having a rich and powerful son-in-law is good. Having a beautiful daughter is great too."Unknown to Dorothy, Scott sneered inwardly, "Such a stupid woman. I can't believe you are this easy to fool."Elijah hadn't paid much attention to the necklace until now, but when he finally looked at it, he shook his head and said, "The necklace is a fake."When Elijah glanced at Scott, he noticed a moment of panic on Scott's face, but Scott quickly hid it so neither Hayley nor Dorothy noticed anything suspicious. As Scott was about to explain, Dorothy picked up a card from the floor and hit Elijah with it, scolding him, "Be quiet! What do you know? How dare you accuse young master Scott of buying fake things. Get out of here right now! Seeing you makes me want to vomit."Scott felt satisfied with how the situation unfolded. Even Hayley didn't defend Elijah because she believed he was wrong for slandering Scott. Hayley wouldn't speak ill of anyone, no matter how bad they might be.Hayley wondered if Elijah was simply jealous. She thought, "Maybe it's normal for a man to be jealous or have emotions, even if he was mentally unstable."Elijah knew no one would believe him. He wanted to even show them the proof that the necklace Scott gave Dorothy as a gift was a fake and not up to 20,000 dollars but he couldn't for two reasons. First, Dorothy didn't give him the chance to speak and secondly if he had pointed out the truth, Hayley would start suspecting he was well now. So he just remained silent, got up and left the house.Dorothy shouted, "Never come back here again!" as Elijah stepped out of the door.Elijah was just taking a casual stroll as he thought of the many events that had unfolded in his life since he was poisoned three years ago. "What was going on with the West family? Who is the current head of the West family? Who exactly poisoned me?" These were the thoughts that kept flowing in his head until a screech sound snapped him back to reality.A sports car had blocked his way and Scott stepped out from it."I can't really tell how you knew the necklace was fake. Its possible that as a fool, you still have a little intelligence but i want you to know that sooner or later, Hayley will be mine." As Scott spoke, he pointed a finger at Elijah.Elijah was angry that his thought process was interrupted so he grabbed Scott's pointed finger and bent it hard."Ah!!!" Scott let out a loud scream of pain. Elijah kicked him to the ground then quickly ran away. Scott to him was a small fry but he feared, the more time he spent with Scott, the more likely he was to expose that fact that he had recovered. After all, no man would be calm when they saw a man who wanted to steal his wife.Scott yelled in pain as he got up from the ground and warned, "You better run, because if I catch you, I will make sure to kill you."After running quite a distance, Elijah took out his phone and dialed the same number he had called the previous night. This time, the call went through, and someone answered on the other end. There were no words exchanged between Elijah and the person on the call. After a while, Elijah hung up. Their silence felt like some kind of unspoken code.At that moment, Elijah really wanted to smoke, but he reached into his pocket and found no money. He let out a mocking laugh as he spoke, "I can't believe the heir of the West family is this broke."Although Hayley usually gave him some money every day, he had left the house without taking any with him, leaving him with no choice but to walk to his destination. That evening, in a luxurious villa, a middle-aged man just stepped out of his car and headed inside. The house was in darkness, and as he was about to turn on the lights, a cold voice startled him. "Leo, you've gotten more powerful. I'm no longer of any importance to you, am i?"Leo, the middle-aged man, trembled and immediately fell to his knees in response to the voice.Who was Leo? Leo Bishop was a middle aged man and the richest man in Georgia. He was a powerful and influential person that several people admired. However, that powerful Leo was kneeling to someone just by hearing that person's voice alone. If this was said outside, no one would believe it. But of course it was true. While everybody knew that Leo Bishop was powerful, people didn't know that without a powerful backer, he couldn't have been in such a position. Infact the Bishop Group headed by Leo wasn't truly his. There was nothing wrong saying Leo was just a caretaker for his backer. Finally, the owner of the commanding voice stepped out from his hidden corner and switched on the light, revealing himself to be Elijah.Elijah looked at Leo coldly as he took a seat on the sofa and crossed his legs. "I'm sure you must have been happy when you didn't hear from me since and was already planning to take over my properties."Leo, still kowtowing, immediately responded, "No, Junior young m
No other person was in the house at the moment. Dorothy had gone to be with her friends as usual and Hayley just left the house so Elijah took out his phone immediately and made a call, "Hello, Leo find out my wife's current whereabouts. Her name is Hayley Greene." Then he hung up.The reason he had to tell Leo his wife's name was that last night he didn't allow Leo know about his wife or his wife's family so Leo didnt dare investigate it but now he didn't care anymore. From Hayley's words, he was worried about her but he didn't know where she had gone exactly and she had said she didn't want him to go out so his only option was Leo.As for Hayley, she had gone for a meeting with Mr. John. Mr. John worked for a sports company. Infact you could say he held a high position in the sports company and as such, the Greene family wanted to clench a contract from him to be the manufacturer and supplier of their sports clothing for a particular period of time. Old Mrs. Greene had given Hayle
Elijah delivered a trashing of a lifetime to Mr. John, patterning Mr. John’s face with repeated successive punches from his fist until the club management came to intervene. Nobody was able to overpower Elijah. By the time he let go, Mr. John had already passed out. He has been knocked out cold.Elijah carried Haylee in his hands and took her home in a taxi. “How could you be so foolish? I am the foolish one, not you.” Elijah muttered in the taxi with tears welling up in his eyes, while Haylee remained unconscious. “Why did you have to drink so much?” Dinner was just about to commence when Elijah walked in carrying Haylee in his hands. Dorothy paused dinner and zoomed in to meet Elijah by the door. Her eyes blazed with fury thinking Elijah had done something to her daughter, “What have you done to her, you fool?” she yelled at Elijah and he flinched, only to conceal his secret. “What have you done to my daughter? My Haylee.”She wept, rubbing Haylee’s hair. “She and that foolish husb
Haylee’s head ached like a heavy rod had been smashed on her head a million times over as she opened her eyes. She looked to her side but could not find Elijah, but heard noisy yells from downstairs in the living room. Her mother’s voice was the predominant voice she could picture in her head, and at that moment she realized where Elijah could be. Her mother only had one person to yell at in the Greene mansion – Elijah the fool. She sprung up from her bed, still in her meeting dress, zoomed downstairs to know what is happening with Elijah again. Every eye glued on her when she reached the living room, she could not imagine what made them stare at her, but she could see Elijah standing alone while her mother picked on him in the presence of everybody seated, including Phil, Haylee’s third cousin who was not actively involved in the family’s business. She saw Daniel’s face blazing with fury, as he hung up a phone call. “I knew you have always been a mistake,” Dorothy yelled at Elijah,
“Officers, what brings you here?” Phil asked, as went over to meet the policemen.Elijah knew exactly why they were here, he was aware of the status of Mr. John, and for a useless imbecile like him, he knew there would be consequences. The police officers, showed Phil an arrest warrant and said, “We are here for Elijah.” Nobody was sure of what his last name was, including the man who brought him into the Greene mansion, Late Mr. Greene. When he lost his memory, he could only remember his first name, as he lost his identity. They only knew him as Elijah, and he chose to keep it that way when recovered his memory. There is only one West family in all of Georgia, telling them his full name means revealing who he is. “He just cannot seem to stay out of trouble, gosh,” Tory mumbled beneath her breath, where she was seated.Haylee stood in front of Elijah to protect, however, to Elijah it was useless. “At least tell us what he did wrong,” Phil said, trailing behind the officers
Haylee stared at her husband, unsure of what to say or do. She rubbed her palms together and sighed. “I-I didn’t mean to do it, I did not mean to hit him that hard,” Elijah said, breaking the silence. “Enough, Elijah. Enough.” Haylee silenced him her face bore an expression that made Elijah uncomfortable. “Tell me, why? Why did you do such a thing? Why would you want to ruin everything for me and my family? Why do you always make everything difficult for me?”Elijah raised a brow, unexpecting what words Haylee spewed. He was unsure of what to say, remaining mute. “Say something!” Haylee yelled at him, with her voice starting to break where she sat. “Grandfather made a deep mistake bringing you into our home, but he made an even worse mistake getting you married to me. I have never had a single day of peace for the past three years since I got married to you, my family turned on me. I lost my position in my grandfather’s inheritance and I am on the verge of losing everything complete
‘I should have told her about myself. I should have let her know who I am, who am I kidding?' Elijah’s thoughts flew around like scattered birds in the sky.He clenched his fists and slammed them on the table, it reddened as his fist hardened. He imagined holding Mr. John again and hitting him as hard as possible. He rested his head on the table and sighed. “Foolish Elijah,” he muttered and screamed furiously. “I implore you to calm down, Sir.”Elijah’s ears tingled, hearing a familiar voice in his holding cell. He raised his head to see Bishop Leo walking through the door. His face lit up with a smile. “How did you know I am here?” Elijah asked, as his forehead creased. He squinted his eyes glaring at Bishop Leo. He wondered how his arrest reached Bishop Leo, given that he was denied access to phone calls. “You’re everywhere,” Bishop Leo said, placing his phone before Elijah. Videos of how he trashed Mr. John played on the screen. “I was devastated when I
Mr. John crossed his legs on Mrs. Greene’s office couch, with a bandage wound around his face. A momentary silence enveloped the room, with Daniel standing behind Mrs. Greene like his bodyguard. “I am sorry for this,” Daniel said, trying to look away from Mr. John’s devastating face, but sheer curiosity would not allow him to. “That fool will pay, I promise you. But can you please drop the charges against him?”Daniel could not believe those words could proceed from his mouth, as he forced them out. His gut turned inside out. “And why should I?” Mr. John asked with an elfish grin. His smile stretched from one side of his face to the other and then relegated to a cold, harsh expression. “Look at me!” he yelled, pointing to the bandage around his head. He clenched his teeth like a shark holding a firm grip on its food. “Just look at me. Why should I let him go?” Daniel swallowed his breath, taking a glance at Old Mrs. Greene who stared into bare space. Her calmness made
