From a distance, Daxon watches as Veronica pursues Matthew, her lover, to his luxurious car that is parked in the compound. At the sight of Veronica kissing and hugging Matthew, Daxon tightens his fist again.

There is an enormous amount of rage, creating and growing a storm in his heart and he just wants to punch the glass windows in front of him in reiteration.

Due to the noise, his mother in law, sister in law and the rest of the family come downstairs to approach Daxon. Veronica heads back inside after bidding her lover a safe drive.

“What is going on? We heard the noise.” Veronica’s junior sister, Azura asks.

“You should ask Veronica. I just caught her in bed with another man. Look at her, she shows no remorse or accountability, how can one be so shameless?” Daxon says.

“What! Did you just call my daughter shameless?” Agatha lintervenes.

“But mother…” Daxon tries to explain.

“I don’t care if she brought a gazillion men into this house and slept with them! Do you think that gives you the right to call her shameless?” Agatha says.

Veronica begins to laugh and clap her hands. Her uncle, Samuel Pierce enters into the conversation and he looks at Daxon with bitterness.

“How dare you call the daughter of this house shameless? You are a son in law that lives with your wife’s family. Aren’t you ashamed of yourself!” Uncle Samuel yells at Daxon.

“Are you all even listening to me? Veronica is my wife and she disregarded the union of our marriage.” Daxon says, wondering if the entire family has a deaf button somewhere.

“It’s enough, Daxon! You are the only one who thinks I care about this marriage.”

“I told you already…this marriage was a bet that I made with my friends.” “I stayed married to you because the media was interested in my marriage. Imagine this, a rich class girl marrying a commoner,” Veronica says and chuckles.

“How can you treat someone like this? How can you be so evil Veronica!?” Daxon raises his voice at her and Uncle Samuel grabs him by the shirt.

Daxon is pushed to the wall violently and he fights his way. However, Uncle Samuel is stronger and it is hard to fight back.

“Choke him if you must.” Agatha says, snickering along with Veronica..

“No, mother…imagine if he dies. It would be disgusting to have the blood of this peasant on our hands Veronica says.

“Let go of me!” Daxon yells.

“Let him go, uncle. We need him to sign the divorce papers and be on his way already.” Veronica says and Uncle Samuel pushes Daxon in her direction.

“You already have the divorce papers?” Daxon’s voice breaks, a chord pulls on broken hope.

“Daxon, you are just so clueless.” Veronica says and breaks out in a lengthy laughter.

“You married me as a bet, a prey that you could easily bully and you stayed married to me because the media loved it. I will not forgive you for this, Veronica,” Daxon says, wiping his eyes.

“Honey, don’t cry! Take it as an experience, at least, you can boast to your commoner friends that you were once married to Veronica Pierce.” Veronica says.

“Hurry, let him sign the papers! Azura, go and alert the servants to throw his filthy belongings out.” Agatha says to her second daughter who leaves the scene to follow her mother’s orders.

“Veronica, I don’t have anywhere to go. I will sign the divorce papers but can you at least give me time to move out. You know I worked for your father’s company for six months but I was never paid.”

“I don’t have any money to rent a place,” Daxon says.

“Did you really think living in this house was charity? All of your salaries have paid for the roof over your head and food you were given in this house!” Agatha says.

“Mother, please! Just this last time, do me this favor! “ Daxon pleads but they turn their face away.

Uncle Samuel hands the pen over and Daxon looks at Veronica for the last time. There is nothing but hatred in her eyes. He bends to sign the divorce papers and her signature is there already.

Uncle Samuel grabs him by the shirt and drags him all the way to the door, in front of the other servants and relatives of the house. They push him in such a manner that he ends up falling on the ground.

Outside the house, rain is falling heavily and his belongings are in the rain. Daxon’s phone, which was his only chance of helping him reach out to a friend who could help him with a place to stay, has been soaked by the rain too.

Tears blind his eyes as the heavy rain hits from all directions. It seems as if heaven is raging war upon him as the cloud cackles and divides. The Pierce family shuts their doors against him and he picks his belongings. As he walks, cars who are speeding in the rain splashes muddy water at him and he stops at a nearby bus stop.

At this moment, all hope and strength to live is drained from his body. All his life, he has struggled to make ends meet but it has never been enough.

“Why is my life so pity-some?” Daxon murmurs to himself, as he shivers in the rain. He is devoid of any emotion that looks like hope.

However, in a few hours, the rain stops but the chill of the rain is still present.

Daxon cries until the back of his throat hurt and there weren’t any more tears left to cry. With his own eyes, he watches as very expensive cars run past on the free road, and Daxon feels worse about his life and his situation. Was Veronica right? Is he useless and was it right for her to choose a CEO of a powerful company over him?

At that vital point where he thinks it is over, the sound of a car engine whirring and rumbling takes his attention. It ends in a steady hum as the car stops in front of him. At the same time, a very bright light flashes on his face and Daxon squints in the direction. He raises his hands to block the direction of the bright light and slowly, the light dims.

Daxon stands on his feet when he sees a number of Mercedes Benz whose worth are valued in hundreds of millions and more. The cars are pitch black, they are facing Daxon and a few men who are dressed in luxurious suits step out, looking at him.

At first, his instinct is to run away until the men in suits, who are about ten in number, bend their stances and bow to him. Daxon stops in surprise, he swallows a lump in his throat.

“Young master.” They all say in resonation.
