Daxon cannot believe that it’s really his father, standing in front of him.

His vivid memory returns of how his father abandoned their family and how much they had to struggle. It happened when he was only eight years old but he remembers clearly.

Time has passed, but his father’s voice is still etched in his mind.

“I can’t believe it. Is it really you?” Daxon whispers, he remembers how his mother used to tell him about the resemblance he shares with his father and slowly, he realizes who he is really talking to.

“Yes, son.”

“Your father is Christopher Winter.” He says.

There is no one in the country who doesn’t know Christopher Winter, he is a businessman and a powerful individual who controls several companies in the state. And that man is his father!?

Gasp!

“What do you want from me? Why have you sought me after so many years when you abandoned me and my mother!?” Daxon says, wiping the streak of tears from his eyes.

“I know you are upset and angry. I can hear it in your voice. I have been searching for you and finally, I have found you. I really need to speak to you.” Christopher says.

“Of course,” Daxon’s voice trembles and he begins to walk in circles.

“You are so powerful enough to control all these men but you couldn’t be there for your family? What exactly do you want to say to me?” Daxon replies and his father approaches him.

“I can see it in your eyes, you are angry, son and It’s my fault. I should have never left you and your mother in the manner that I did.” Christopher says.

“What else?” Daxon says, not buying his explanation.

“I cannot ask you to forgive me because I failed as your father…” Christopher is caught off by Daxon.

“So, there’s no need for us to talk anymore! I cannot forgive you and I will never understand why you did what you did.” Daxon says and he is about to walk away when the men in suits stop him from passing.

“Are these your bodyguards?” Daxon chuckles in annoyance.

“They are not my bodyguards. Daxon, I selected them for you. They are here to protect you,” Christopher says and Daxon’s eyes widen.

“Leave, everyone!” His father says and the men in suits retreat.

“Have a seat, son. If you give me a chance, I will explain everything to you.” His father says and he squeezes his fist. Apart from being angry, he is emotionally hurt because he has missed his father like crazy in these years.

Daxon takes his seat and stares at his father.

“Do you know how hard life has been for me? I had to work odd jobs. I was adopted by a couple who didn’t give a shit about me. I thought I was an orphan! I have been spat on by people, mistreated and belittled. Where have you been?” Daxon asks.

Christopher Winter rubs his temples before speaking.

“The only reason I left you and your mother is because I wanted to build a better life for the both of you. We were dirt poor and as a father, I needed to make some investments that could have led to a good or bad cause.”

“I have done business in the black market, I have met people in the industry who would harm others for their prosperity and I didn’t want my activities to hurt you and your mother.”

“Staying away from the both of you is the sacrifice I had to make.” It was hard—but I had to do it. I didn’t want my son to have the kind of life that I lived. I wanted you to be strong, powerful and intimidating in every room you walk in.

“For you and your mother, worked like a dog, day and night to make it big. When I heard news that your mother died, I almost lost my mind but I couldn’t face you. I was being chased by loan sharks at that time. If I reached out to you, they would have found out about you.”

“So, I left the country and that is where I started afresh.” Christopher says and Daxon’s mouth widens in shock.

“You left because you wanted to give mother and I a better life?” Daxon asks, his shoulders are relaxed after listening to his father.

“Yes, son. Do you know this hotel we are seated in? It’s the most luxurious and expensive hotel in the state.” His father says.

“Yes, of course! I have heard that only ‘the one percent’ of people attend this place. It’s for VIPs like the president and other powerful political members from all over the world. Is that true?” Daxon says.

“Well, son, I am a billionaire. And also, you are correct. The hotel is one of my businesses and I’m handing it over to you.” Christopher says.

Daxon stands on his feet in shock, he widens his eyes and cannot bring his words into a speech.

“You own the Castle hotel!” He shrieks.

“Yes, son. Now, I want you to be the new CEO, as well as the heir to the rest of my companies. You are going to run everything.” Christopher says.

All these years, he believed his father was tired of his responsibility towards him and his mom. Turns out, his father had them in mind all these years. He doesn’t have a college degree. Yet, he will become CEO to his father’s businesses.

“Don’t worry, you don’t have to be scared. I will fix you with people that will help you learn through the way.” His father assures him.

Daxon watches as his father speaks to someone on the phone. “Lewis, please tell Daxon’s assistants to come in.” Christopher says.

A young, slender woman walks into the room. She is putting on a corporate uniform and her jet-black hair is in a bun. Her facial structure is sharp and her walking steps accentuate her curves. Daxon’s eyes shine in surprise, he is taken by her beauty.

Right by her side is also a young man who is dressed in a corporate suit as well, he is on a low cut and he is slightly taller than the woman. He has a very chiseled jawline and good stature.

“Wow.” Daxon mutters as he stares at the both of them.

“Daxon, this is Sydney and Michael. They are the top best students in Harvard university and I have hired them to guide you. They have been running the company since I was busy with my other businesses overseas, they will be of great help.”

“Sydney, Michael…this is my son, Daxon.”Christopher says.

“It is a pleasure and honor to meet you.” Sydney and Michael say together.

“The pleasure is mine,” Daxon says and shakes the both of them eagerly. He cannot believe it. In a snap, his life has completely changed from being a useless son in law, to a businessman.
