“Why… Why did you help us?”

Dimitri stood in front of his sisters, and he forgot his formal speech.

“Hm… For no reason.”

Jason simply did what he thought was the best.

“Your face looks funny!”

“Hm?”

Jason looked at the young girl who was looking at him while sucking her thumb.

“She… She didn’t mean it.”

Dimitri covered Peri as his body shook in fear.

He knew Peri didn’t understand who this man was, but he knew why no one in the surrounding laughed at his funny face. No one even dared to mention it. Because this was the Mad Wizard. Not even the arrogant city guards raised their voices in front of him.

‘Didn’t she see what he did right here? Is she too young to understand how powerful he is?’

He didn’t feel this terrified when he had to protect his sisters before.

“Please… Don’t….”

He wanted to plead for his sister.

“Daddy’s face is not funny. It is the face of a warrior. Daddy and Hanna wear Warpaint because we are going to war.”

‘Huh?’

Dimitri didn’t even get to complete his plea

“Sir, are these clothes appropriate?” “Yeah. Those are good enough. They can’t go out in expensive clothing. Help the girls with the clothes after they finish their food.” “Yes, Mr Garth.” “Keep up the good work. Mistress Amelia has noticed your performance. There are always excellent opportunities if the nobles notice you.” “Thank you, Sir. I will do my best.” Garth felt the excitement in the maid’s voice. Hope Manor was a great place for these young maids. The treatments and the wages were much better, and they received no harassment from the spoiled nobles. A young girl like this might not know, but the maids who experienced enough hardships knew how great this place was. “Good. You are excused.” Garth nodded his head in satisfaction with the clothes the maid brought for the children. These children were from the streets and most probably from the slums. It was impossible for them to go back there in expensive clothes without being targeted by some lowlife. The best they

“Jason… This is the list of the people coming to Heaven’s Gate within next week.”“Send the list. Are you sure you can’t do anything about the timing?”“Well… The last batch will reach Heaven’s Gate a week after your three-month period in the wizard tower. They just left their spawn town, and it will take a couple of more weeks for them to reach you.”The new players couldn’t move them on their own without getting killed along the way, and they had to pay adventurers to escort them to Heaven’s Gate. Jason’s name itself with his seal was more than enough to get these players to the nearest city with the teleportation system. Still, this journey took time even if they provided horses, and these players lacked the status to use Eagle transportation, even with Jason’s name. “Alright! I will wait for them.”…‘You didn’t even look at the list.’Dane wondered why Jason looked so distracted. ‘Is it because of the orphans? I thought he got over it.’The news about Jason taking over thirty o

“How is he?”“He is just sitting here. Nothing much. We are keeping anyone troublesome from approaching him.”Samson scanned the crowd as he spoke with Dane. “Is he mad?”“No. He just gave an autograph to two young boys. So, I think we just have to keep anyone from irritating him.”“Alright. Keep an eye out. The West Corporation is ready to apologise and pay a lump sum to avoid confrontation.”“Not a public apology?”Samson wondered if he heard it wrong.“No. Not a public apology. I changed the condition. Didn’t you see the news?”“I am looking at it right now.”Samson shook his head, unamused. He thought Dane was joking when he heard Dane asking for a public apology. Apparently, this young guy was serious about it. ‘Confrontation between Carl West and Jason Hope. What is the hidden truth behind the conflict between Derek West and Jason Hope?’The topic was on the internet, and it would soon reach the local news agencies. There were several clips where they jumped in between Jason

“Mommy, is Daddy okay?”“Hm… He will be okay.”Amelia gently rubbed Hanna’s head. She tried to look confident, but there was a slight doubt in her heart. She knew Hanna might detect her distress, but she couldn’t conceal it any longer. Jason used the excuse of Dane’s request to run away from her to avoid her question.‘It is your fault Hanna is sad. Do you think I will let you escape?’Amelia had more questions waiting for Jason when he returned, including his reason to avoid her. Hanna woke up minutes after Jason left, and Amelia knew Hanna must have felt Jason’s mood. He wasn’t sad the entire day, but his mood changed in the afternoon. It was impossible for Jason to hide his emotions from them, and Hanna stayed awake longer to prevent Jason from leaving. Jason didn’t escape until Hanna slept, but he didn’t know she woke up soon after. “Mommy, when will Daddy come?”“He will be here soon.”‘He better be here soon.’Amelia added the last part in her heart.Hanna refused to sleep,

“This one is worse than anything else, but there are still people on his side.”Dane looked at the three screens and saw the others and their dire expressions. As expected, someone had broadcasted Jason’s fight in the bar. It started with his excessive drinking as someone noted him chugging down alcohol with no end. However, the video ended when Samson and the others stepped in to calm the people.Jason's fight didn’t last a minute, but it was brutal as all his other fights. He clearly showed how proficient and decisive he was in combat. From the moment the girl touched him, he took down seven individuals in exactly fifty-one seconds. Each strike Jason used neutralised one enemy, and his instinct looked beyond sharp. “He isn’t even looking at them. It is like he knows what his punches can do.”David, who had almost no combat experience compared to others, was marvelled by Jason’s fight. He knew what Jason was capable of in The Endless, but this was in the real world. If not for the

“I get it. Now calm down. Tell us what exactly happened?” Magnus looked at the others giving them a sign to act. One of the agents raised his hand before walking out of the room. In case of danger, he would use the force log out to take Samson back to Earth at Magnus’s command. “She… She just came out alone and asked me who… Who is the woman? “I want to challenge you to a fight.”“Who are you?”Jason raised his brow in annoyance. He spent three days mostly on Yuriel to avoid coming back to Earth. He didn’t leave his apartment in the short period he was here, and he came out for a short walk almost after three days. His temper was much better after learning more about himself. Jason thought about how heavy his body was, and how much of a hassle to control it on Earth. He never thought this would affect his mentality, but he realised what it was to be weak. His emotions were more in check, and the time he spent with Hanna and Amelia was much more helpful to him. He spent more time playing with Hanna and more nights focusing on his studies. The sense of urgency in his heart only grew bigger, and it helped him to keep his mind occupied. The day he had to face the council of the wizard tower was near, and the time he had to figure out his spells was ending. ‘Seriously, I came out after three days. And there is a creep wait

He also acknowledged the alien woman who passed something to Peri’s palm while she came to him.First, he hated these strangers giving things to his sisters, but he accepted they were honestly doing it out of goodwill. They usually gave Peria and Ingra some sweets, food, or some beautiful trinkets. Also, they didn’t have that disgusted look many adults had when they looked at them. These people looked at them with sympathy and kindness, which Dimitri didn’t like too much. He didn’t want their sympathy, and he wasn’t used to having this kind of treatment from others.People used to look at him with disgust and suspicion, but it was different here. What he saw defied his expectations. The village was alive. It wasn’t just busy—it thrived.Shops occupied every available space, their owners negotiating prices with eager customers. People bustled past him, engaged in work yet carrying an air of contentment, their movements purposeful, their faces filled with ease. This was not the Light Shone he remembered.‘Back then, it was different.’It had been just as lively, but the stench of blood clung to the air, and signs of death lurked at every corner. The envoy stammered, his body trembling as he hastily retreated to the far corner of the carriage.‘Sigh… How useless.’The hooded man barely spared him another glance. The Brodice Kingdom had neither the power nor the will to resist the Grand Order that had been issued. It had been nearly a decade since the last decree from the Grand Wizards, and that one had shaken the world, announcing the arrival of an immortal alien.‘But this might be the first time in centuries that they had to step in to stop a minor war.’He turned his gaze to the passing scenery outside the carriage window, watching in silence. No one, aside from the envoy and a handful of high-ra

"Grandmaster Amelia…""He’s playing with Hanna and his magic," Amelia cut Dane off before he could finish, hanging the freshly washed clothes on the line.Even after a year of constant change in Light Shone, this small household had remained the same. It was still under Amelia’s care. The village’s housing structure remained untouched as new construction projects focused on essential production facilities and accommodations for the new settlers arriving through the ongoing clearing operations. Infrastructure plans were in place, but progress was slow due to the sheer number of projects they were juggling. If Jason or Amelia had wanted, they could have easily upgraded their home—no one would have objected. After all, this small house was the heart of the Crystal Pulse, the centre of absolute power within the faction. Yet, despite its democratic structure, the organization operated with near-perfect coordination. The faction under Magnus from the Secret Service, the Saintess Guild, the

"What a small place," the hooded figure muttered as he entered the heart of the Brodice Kingdom’s capital. His voice, a slightly older male tone, carried a mix of amusement and disappointment. "And why is their security so bad?" he added, his sharp eyes scanning the bustling streets.Soldiers packed every corner and alley, their inspections meticulous. Even the citizens were forced to pass through layers upon layers of security just to move about. Yet, despite the apparent vigilance, no one noticed him. Draped in a black cloak, the figure walked openly down the middle of the road, his presence going entirely undetected."Well... they have to be careful. That bounty is indeed tempting," he muttered to himself, a sly grin creeping across his hidden face. "Ah, I wish I were as young as I was back then. Maybe I could’ve finished off these weaklings myself for that reward." His voice carried a mocking tone. "The Crystal Pulse? What a bland name for such a daring organisation."He chuckled s

"No, I’m saying they’re going overboard.""Isn’t that what they always do? This isn’t the first time The Crystal Pulse has attacked players unprovoked.""We have to do something about it—fast."The discussion had devolved into an argument the moment it started. Some of the most famous gamers across the country had gathered in one place, a rare occurrence in itself. The Endless had grown too big to ignore, and even gamers who had avoided it initially had now established themselves in the challenging yet captivating world of the game.Ironically, most of them seemed to have forgotten that The Crystal Pulse was the primary reason players had been able to thrive in The Endless in the first place. It was The Crystal Pulse’s infrastructure and guidance that allowed players to survive in this mercilessly realistic game. Their success had been the beacon that drew many to the VR game considered the hardest ever created. Yet here they were, plotting ways to overthrow the very organization that

She had a few healing potions tucked away in her pack, but she knew she couldn’t waste them. Supplies were limited, and every soldier had been issued a fixed amount by Crystal Pulse. While the organization would do whatever it took to keep them alive, this was part of their training—learning to manage resources in the heat of battle.'I heard they’re watching us anyway,' Gillian thought, her mind drifting. Since leaving Light Shone, several Grandmasters had vanished from the village, and she suspected they were nearby, keeping a close eye on the mission. The first and most important rule for Crystal Pulse players was not to die, even if respawning in eighteen hours was an option.'Logan is confident en

  • 297 - Cosmic Horror

'His mutation is changing. Or... should I say improving?' Amelia observed Jason closely as the changes in his body unfolded with each passing second. The starry night-like texture on his left side began to expand subtly toward the right, slowly overtaking the black, armour-like skin. However, the transformation seemed restrained, as though the artefact lacked the power to fully support Jason's demand. The process lasted nearly an hour before the dagger, once brimming with ominous energy, dulled completely, its power entirely drained.Jason’s body underwent slight changes—a small part of his pitch-black armour faded, replaced by the cosmic texture of the starry night. Finally, he opened his eyes, feeling a rare sense of relief. The artifact's mutation had been neutralised; it would no longer corrupt anyone or anything. For the first time in a long while, he felt as though a small part of his burden had been lifted.“Well... you can’t go out like that!” Amelia’s voice pulled him from his

Jason’s gaze returned to the towering demon before him, but he didn’t feel it was worth his attention. His glowing eyes simply stared at the massive figure for a brief moment before he swung his right arm through the air with effortless precision. It was as if he was clawing at the distant figure. A second later, several glowing white lines expanded across the space, moving faster than the eye could track. They reached the demon in an instant, cutting through its form. Behind it, the underground mountain erupted into a cloud of dust, disintegrating as though it had been struck by an invisible force. For a heartbeat, the Greater Demon stood there, frozen in place as if nothing had happened. Then, with a sickening sound, its colossal body crumbled to the ground in pieces, diced cleanly by Jason’s strike.“Screech!” A high-pitched wail echoed across the cavern as panicked creatures scattered, their movements erratic and mindless in the wake of their apex predator’s death.
