Home / System / World Domination System / The Weber Family??
The Weber Family??

After all, that running around during the day, Leonard had fallen asleep the moment he got back home.

When he finally woke up, he took up time to set up the phone he had ‘loaned’ from Susan.

The first thing he saw when he placed his SIM card in was the alert that showed the money he had won.

Leonard sat, stupefied at the reality in front of him. Even if he had worked for it, it still felt a little unbelievable to be able to get the money.

Also, how had the system gotten all the information needed to pay the money to him, the more he thought about it, the more questions he had.

[As the host, our fates have become one and the system has everything linked to the host. As for the vast wealth of the World Domination System, only by completing tasks can the host win it….]

One more time, the system went into a long-winded explanation. This time, however, Leonard felt like he understood more than the first time. He could also see that the system’s guardian seemed a lot nicer than when he had first set up his profile.

He quickly accepted the offer to take a tour around the system and was surprised by each new discovery he found about the system that had now become a part of him.

Even though he had to win the system’s approval to get full access, Leonard felt that the vast library that the system had was more than enough.

[You can access any knowledge or skill using the system points, you can earn that by completing tasks and through level-ups.]

Although his hopes were dashed with that new piece of information, Leonard nodded in understanding.

For someone like him that always had nothing, no support, no advantage, or even hope to fight for, a basic condition like this was not enough to deter him.

Instead, he was more interested in getting more tasks.

He decided to purchase a high-selling skill or knowledge later on when he was more settled.

In the meantime, he was famished and he stepped out of the room, in hopes that he would be able to get something to buy.

He sniffed, the sweet fragrance of meat wafted into his nose even more and the slow humming of his mom led him into the kitchen.

“Mother?”

“You are awake! You were fast asleep when I got back, so I decided to let you get some rest,” his mother explained with a bright smile on her face.

“Hmmm, what’s the occasion? You seem very happy.” He pointed out. More than her humming, meat was one of the rarest things in their meals and he hadn’t told her anything about the system.

Certainly, there had to be some good news somewhere.

“Auntie Diane gave me this to prepare for you. You are growing and should be eating meat and everything in the right portion,” his mother’s face had a wistful smile as she looked at her slightly skinny son.

Other than his otherwise lanky physique, Leonard’s looks could rival the heirs from the top families.

Each of his features was delicate and if he didn’t have a lot of bony structures highlighting his face, one would find it hard to accept that he was a boy.

The more she stared at him, the more misty her eyes got.

Perhaps, if he was still here, their boy wouldn’t have to live such a hard life right?

“I’ll drop by her house tomorrow to thank her.” Leonard said, breaking his mother’s thoughts.

She coughed, pushing the thoughts she was having away.

“That would be good, now that her kids her already in the university, she’s lonely during the day and was happy to have me stay over.”

Leonard nodded and then carefully led his mother out of the kitchen while he took over the cooking.

Knowing her son, Mrs Tanner didn’t argue and instead went on to start folding the last batch of laundry that she had done earlier before she left home.

“Leonard,” His mom called out after a few moments of silence.

Their entire house wasn’t big and there was no difference between being in the kitchen and being in the living room.

Leonard could hear her every word.

“There are two matters I want to discuss with you,” she started.

“Auntie Diane found me a job in the main city, housekeeping during the day for one of those big households. The pay is quite good and you can focus on your studies while I work there,” his mother started.

Leonard’s hands that was holding the knife paused. Some memories of his childhood flashed in his mind and he held the knife a little tighter.

“Their old housekeeper is pregnant and won’t be able to work as much as before. Also, times have changed and it can’t be like before anymore.”

The bond between mother and son was very tight and Leonard’s silence was enough to let her know what he was thinking.

But she also understood that she needed to be responsible for him.

“Mother, these big households are all the same, we would survive without you working for them,” Leonard finally gave her a reply.

“This time, there can’t be any problem, moreover, if they mistreat me, I can always leave.”

Leonard rolled his eyes. Knowing his mother, she would endure to the very end as long as he wasn’t there.

After all, back then, she would do the same, and it was only when he got affected that she would decide to leave.

“What’s the second matter?”

Leonard understood that he couldn’t make his mother change her mind unless he had another job option for her.

More importantly, it was better for him to decide after all cards were on the table.

“We can discuss that while we are eating, I would go and pass these clothes to their owners,” his mother told him and then rushed out with the bag of clothes.

Leonard’s brows furrowed as he watched her departing back and then sighed.

He cooked dinner very quickly, with some of the meat, he made meatballs and pasta.

By the time he was done, his mother had returned and he set the table very quickly.

“Auntie Diane said since her kids aren’t home, she would prefer if we could come over to stay with her. It’s not only closer to your school, but we won’t have to worry about rent.

Also, it would be close to my place of work and I would support her with feeding so that we aren’t a burden to her.”

Leonard looked up, his eyes meeting his mother’s pleading ones. Unlike his mother, Leonard didn’t exactly like Auntie Diane so much. They had worked for her when they were younger but she would always take advantage of his mom but telling her how many responsibilities she had. Eventually, they had to move out as she kept on delaying payments.

However, he could see the plea in his mother’s eyes. So much that he couldn’t even bear to say no.

So with reluctance, he nodded his head.

“Okay Mom, we can stay with her for the main time, however, as soon as we can afford our own place…”

Without allowing him to complete his words, she shook her head excitedly.

“I know that you my son, would make me proud, but in the meantime, we would have to bear with our circumstances.”

Leonard nodded, deciding not to tell her anything about the system or the money he made from it yet.

It was better to keep matters like that.

“So where would you be working? Which household?” He asked after some minutes of silence.

“The Weber Family,”

Leonard’s cutlery made a loud clank as it fell to the floor.

His mother could have gotten work anywhere, in so many familues, but the housekeeper for Susan's family?

“Mom, you cannot work there.”

Susan was his classmate and even though he wasn’t ashamed of being less privileged than the rest of the kids, he didn’t think he could handle it knowing that his mother was working for her.

Most especially since they had to work together on a project now.

“I’m still your mother, Leonard. Besides, I already signed the work contract with them today.” his mother said with a shrug and Leonard’s brows furrowed tightly in thought.

His mother working for Susan’s family?
