32: Setting boundaries

"Yeah, we don't. And where's your hero now?" Sage's tone dripped with mockery, his words a taunting jeer.

This was when Henry came to Irene's mind. She figured he must have left the place by now since he had no reason to wait for her.

She felt like she was a burden to him, to the point that he suspected her of something she didn't even know about!

"What's wrong? What are you thinking about? Did he dump you?" Sage mockingly remarked as pushed her on her shoulder. His face contorted into a sly, self-satisfied smirk.

She felt the urge to deliver a resounding slap to his face, but she couldn't understand why fear held her back. She realized that she wasn't strong enough to overcome the trauma he had put her through.

"What?" He chuckled disdainfully. "You can't do it? You weakling!" This time around, he pushed her so hard that she stumbled and crashed to the ground. Pain shot through her, and she winced.
