The Lord of the Carbin family

Before Emma or Isabella could mention another word, Nathan ended the call and slid his phone into his back pocket.

After ending the call, he turned to Lily who was standing beside him, and asked, "You haven't told me the reason why you chose to find me."

A faint smile appeared on Lily's face then it instantly vanished after seeing the stern look on Nathan's face, "I need your help" she replied, causing Nathan to arch an eyebrow

"Please come with me to the car," she said and Nathan reluctantly got into the car with her, "The Carbin mansion" Lily instructed the driver and he nodded in acknowledgment

"Where are we going?" Nathan asked, with a frown on his face.

"The Carbin's family mansion?" she replied

"No! Why are we going there?" He rephrased the question.

Lily turned to him and heaved a long sigh before saying, "My family is in a big mess Nathan and we need your help," She continued, "The Lord of the Carbin family took our drugs and instead of getting better, he got worse and we need your help to heal him"

Nathan narrowed his eyebrows and said, "Let's get it over with then"

...

In Carbin's family mansion, the lord of the family was unconscious on the sick bed. "Do you think he's getting better?" The heir to the Carbin family asked as he touched his forehead. Before anyone present in the room could answer, they caught sight of Lily walking into the room with a tall and handsome gentleman behind her.

"You! You made his conditions worse," a girl around her early thirties said, pointing at Lily.

Lily kept mute and took a few steps closer to the bed but she was stopped halfway, "Don't move an inch please, don't go close to him, you made my husband's condition worse" The lady brought her hand up to her eyes to wipe the tears off. She's the wife of the Carbin love and her four children were present in the room.

"Please, Mrs. Carbin calm down, Like I promise I'll make sure he gets better," Lily said and turned to Nathan who raised his left hand to his chest to see what the time was.

She coughed and pretended to clear her throat just to get Nathan's attention before she proceeded. "I brought a doctor to treat him, a better one."

The Carbin family all shifted their attention from Lily to Nathan, they eyed him from head to toe and the senior daughter of the Carbin family swiftly turned to Lily with a frown on her face and asked, "Are you trying to get my father killed?"

"He's so young," Mrs. Carbin added.

"Isn't it obvious, Mom? She's trying to get our father killed. We don't need her help!" The heir of the Carbin family said, moving closer to his mother he added, "We've found a better daughter and we no longer need her help but we'll make sure that she pays for all the damage she had caused when the lord finally wakes up"

"Yes! We'll make sure that she's punished for causing his conditions to get worse." They all agreed that Lily plans to kill Mr. Carbin with her bad medications.

"I..." Lily opened her lips to speak, but she couldn't find the right words to say. She gulped down the saliva in her mouth before.

"Just pray that my father wakes up because only then will your punishment be reduced," they threatened, causing Lily's hands to shake in fear. She tried hard to mask her face with a straight face when, deep down, she was totally afraid.

A knock on the door interrupted their conversation, causing everyone to shift their attention to the door. The doctor that the first daughter of the Carbin family talked about walked into the room.

"Mrs. Carbin, how are you?" The doctor asked after casting a mocking look at Nathan and Lily.

"How can I be fine when I watch my husband on this bed day and night? His condition isn't getting better but instead he's getting worse," she responded.

"It won't be easy to cure him..."

"What do you know about his condition?" The doctor asked and scoffed, causing a frown to appear on Nathan's face.

"Please ignore them, Doctor Tony," Mrs. Carbin said. She looked weak and her husband's condition was taking a toll on her.

Doctor Tony proceeded to unpack the bag that he came in with. He gathered all the needed supplies and located the injection site before cleaning it. After preparing the syringe with medication, he injected Mr. Carbin.

Nathan's eyes were on the name of the injection and he gasped as he saw the name. He took one step forward and said, "Don't give him that injection, it'll only make him worse"

"What do you know?" Doctor Tony mocked him

"Stop saying nonsense," Mr. Carbin's first daughter added.

"Listen to me if you want your father to get better, this injection will only make his condition worse and it'll eventually kill him," He said causing Mrs. Carbin's face to instantly turn pale, she couldn't bear the thought of losing her husband.

"What...." she stuttered.

As soon as Doctor Tony noticed this look on her face, he injected Mr. Carbin again and said, "I know what I'm doing. He'll get better. You don't have to panic."

Mrs. Carbin nodded and tried to relax her back on the chair. "Stop him!" Nathan said, turning to Mrs. Carbin, but she ignored him.

"This will only make him worse and eventually kill me," He repeated, but no one listened to him

In a minute, Mr. Carbin's skin color turned pale and his heart rate instantly reduced, causing everyone to panic

"What's happening, Doctor Tony?" Mrs. Carbin asked, standing up from her chair and taking a few steps closer to her husband. She touched his hands and flinched.

"What happened, Mom?" asked her second son"

His... his hands are cold," she stuttered and her heart began to race rapidly.
