Chapter Nine – At the ward.
Again? “What do you mean?” Damien wasn’t stunned Allen family wanted him dead, he’d be hurt to know but at the point, he had given up. But what did ‘again’ mean?“Your accident four years ago. Didn’t you realize they were involved with it? My father precisely. My sister knew nothing.” Bethel explained. Dominic’s heart pounded heavily in his chest. Four years ago, he almost died but luckily or unluckily fell into coma. Sir Allen did that? “Of course, you don’t need to know the reason why…” “I can guess.” Damien interrupted, darkness filling his eyes. “He only wanted Brielle to marry me for my wealth. It planned a long time ago.” Bethel watched him intently as his voice lowered, he looked away. “It’s an inner strife by my father and your grandfather decades back.” Dominic’s head rose. “A decade long strife?” Why'd he never heard of it? Did his grandfather know the Allen family before he married Brielle? “Yet, that’s what led to the unnecessary hate. That’s all you should know for now. What you should do now is rise...” “Don’t tell me what to do!” Dominic snapped. “Rising is already on my list.” “Make it the first on that list!” Bethel yelled. “And be fast, give me reason not to kill you.” That should be his line. Dominic gritted his teeth and worked to get the rope off his wrists. The imbecile had no right to tie him up and then speak condescendingly at him. He was the lesser one and not him. “So our deal, I’d let you live and you work well on that little revenge plot. Make it good, really good.” Bethel turned his back against him. He twirled the knife in his hands then dropped it on a desk. “You might wonder why I don’t do it myself since I’m a mafia don but the thing is…” Before he could finish, he was tackled to the ground and Dominic sat atop him, holding the knife he just placed on the desk. Dominic brought the knife closer to his right eyes in a menacing manner, while breathing heavily. The sudden actions made Bethel’s blood run cold, he didn’t expect the situation he was in, a visible frown was on his face. “Good, this is how it should be. Not you looking down at me.” Dominic seethed. “And I’d never wonder why you don’t fight your family yourself. You’re a coward, and I’m well aware of it.” Bethel tried to throw him off but Dominic stabbed the knife besides his arm, grazing it. Bethel’s lips tightened as he endured the pain. “Let me finish, bastard!” Dominic yelled. “Next time you try to threaten me or my family, I’d come after you, your son and this little mafia family you have here, understand?” he barked. Bethel didn’t react but his half-closed eyes showed his submission. Dominic scoffed and left his body. He replaced the knife on the desk and made for the door. “I’ll fight the Allen family but not for you. Never for you. Fight your own battles.” When Bethel didn’t reply, Dominic left the room. He limped to the door due to a pain throbbing from his thighs. The surroundings was quiet. No one person could be heard for miles. The building was in the middle of no where, just a vast dry land. Dominic smirked on recognizing the place – A popular kidnap spot that people avoided. It was also a ritual spot. He and Silas had explored the place as curious teenagers and nearly got their families to trouble. On remembering Silas, Dominic clenched his fists, annoyed at missing their reunion. “Bethel is a despicable coward and I don’t think he knows that.” He mumbled. Still, if he’d give credit the scum it’d be for knowing he’d turn the tide around. They were few people who believed in him so it meant something to Dominic. Enduring the pain and washing the dirt off his face, Dominic went to the hospital. His phone had been taken so he couldn’t call Jamie. However, he knew Selene would find Lucas. The boy was given a tracking wristwatch and if he wasn’t home on time, he’d be found. He threw the entrance door open and hurried in. Workers and patients gawked as he limped to the receptionist’s table but he didn’t mind. It was nearly a sorry sight but he’d be in a more pathetic state if anything happened to Lucas. The receptionist gave a knowing smile. “Young master Dominic, the boy was brought in few hours ago. He’s alright.” Her voice sounded familiar till Dominic realized she had taken care of him during his coma. She was the one who overhead his in-laws speak ill of him and ushered them out of his ward.He was grateful to her. She knew his family thereby knew his relationship with Lucas. “Thank you, what room please?” “Room 102. One Miss Selene is there with a guest. His fees had been paid as well.” Her eyes returned to her desktop. Fees were paid? Dominic wore an uneasy smile. “I hope Selene is racking up charges for me.” He said to himself. He nodded to the receptionist and marched to the room’s number. The room was a VIP and was isolated at the end of the hallway. Dominic could hear two people conversing at the door. His mind went back to the receptionist saying Miss Selene was with a guest. Who could it be? If it was Jamie then the receptionist could have clearly said ‘her brother’s wouldn’t she? “Or maybe she didn’t know their siblings?” Dominic wondered out loud. He knocked on the door and heard a “Come in!” He swiftly opened the door but was startled at the guest he saw. Selene had an uncomfortable expression, she turned to him and faked a smile. “Sir Allen! Why in the world are you here?” Dominic stomped into the ward, banging the door behind him, “What do you mean by this?” The man should be well aware of how he tormented his life so how could he causally visit his nephew like he was still a nice in-law? Sir Allen, with hands in his back, turned to face Dominic with a smile. “So it’s true, you truly woke up?” Selene quickly held Dominic when he raised his fists to attack the man. She knew it wouldn’t help matters. “He was the one who found Lucas.” Dominic brushed her hold off him. “He’s also the one who caused what happened to Lucas. And me!” he held up his fists. “What the hell are you thinking coming over here?” “To give an advice or two.” Sir Allen replied with a calm demeanor, still sporting his fake smile. Advice? Dominic stared, hopelessly, at the man. He wanted to smash his head to a wall but that’d cause a messy scene. But he didn’t want to care.Comments please. Thank you for reading. I'd make my updates more consistent this new month.
Chapter Ten – I’d pay “To give an advice or two.” Sir Allen replied with a calm demeanor, still sporting his fake smile. Advice? Dominic stared, hopelessly, at the man. He wanted to smash his head to a wall but that’d cause a messy scene. But he didn’t want to care. The man caused his life to be such a mess yet he came with an advice? Why were the Allen’s so fearless in taking him on. He knew Sir Allen was only there to threaten but after coming from his son’s place, Dominic was fed up with any Allen telling him what to do. “Get out while I’m still sane! I’d likely not repeat myself again.” He showed him the man the door. Sir Allen shook his head. “This will help you, you know. After four years and returning to the business world, you’d need some…” The man’s neck was dragged and his smile fell. His face was closer to Dominic’s. “Allen, you took my wife from me and then my sons, unless when I want to finish you, I don’t want you showing up in front of me!” Sir Allen
Chapter Eleven – Jean In front of a clinic, a red Lamborghini had been parked for twenty minutes before a man stepped out of the driver’s seat. The security guards that had been watching the car were stunned when an elegant looking man stepped out of the car. The man walked briskly to the other side of the passenger’s seat and opened the car door. A blonde girl jumped out of the car and ran to the entrance, she stood and gaped. “Awww! This is the clinic, isn’t it?!” The security guards gawked at her beauty with subtlety. The man sighed and walked to her, folding his arms around hers. “Mother is in, let’s go.” he pulled her along, ignoring the gawking of the security guards. As they walked into the clinic, the receptionist ran to them with smiles. “Sir Casimir, Miss Jean! Good morning. Hope you had a nice flight?” Jean grinned widely. “We sure did! There was this old lady who got mad at me for talking in the first class…” “We did. Thank you.” Casimir interrupted his lit
Chapter Twelve – Jones.“What are you doing here?” Dominic stared down at the two human forms before him. He was just about drowning himself in coffee and documentations when he heard the scream. “And why are you looking for Brielle here?” Jean made a small run towards him. “Hi, I’m Miss Jean from the Timely...” “I heard.” Dominic interrupted. “You didn’t answer me.” Jean stepped back. “Um, well…” “I’m Casimir Jones, CEO of Timely Gadgets. We came to offer condolences for the death of your grandmother.” Casimir said, coming forward. Dominic’s eyes darkened on him. Jones? The name sounded familiar, and not really in his good book. “Thank you for the thoughts.” He was sure there was no enterprise called Timely Gadgets that his grandfather collaborated with. He had recently checked the log books. “Anything else you need from me?” he asked, taking a step back to show he needed to leave. “Where’s Lucas? I haven’t seen him.” Jean said suddenly. Dominic frowned at her. What
Chapter Thirteen – Everett. Augustus Arthur. Definitely a powerful name belonging to a powerful man. Seeing the name alone made Dominic shake. “What’s the deal with him?” Dominic forced a smile to ease his discomfort. He kept scrolling but the name stayed on his mind. When done with the files of the day, he closed the building. He was heading for a meeting he looked forward to all day – meeting of the Dons. “This will be so exhilarating.” He said under his breath. “Another chance to trend!” The awoken Young Master gracing his presence at the exclusive party of young CEOs. Before his accident, he never took the meeting serious because it was just a glorified evening party yet he attended always. Showing his face at the party again will surely cause an interesting buzz, after all, he was still a young CEO just not as successful. He got in his car, drank bottle of water before starting the car. He’d be going for a two hours drive to make it, but he’d not miss it.
Chapter Fourteen – Ex-wife A tall red-haired lady, with pursed lips and curious eyes stood, hands on waist, behind him. She was a fashion model that took the world by storm four years back. It seemed she reached greater heights to be dining with young CEOs. “You aren’t a regular here. Don’t think anyone can just waltz in…” “Now, that’s just rude. You wouldn’t even ask my name since your eyes don’t seem to work.” Dominic sighed disappointedly. He had regained some of his features so was definitely easier to recognize, except she wasn’t big on the Thales family. Which would be unreal. Miss Avarez clenched her fists. “Who are you speaking to like that? Excuse me?” she called for a guard. Dominic expression became serious. Was this lady about to cause a scene? He grabbed her arm and pulled her to his face. The guard noticed the act and rushed to him. “Miss Avarez, I’m not used to not being known. It’s never been said anywhere that the Thales heir wasn’t identified.” His
Chapter Fifteen – Hiring The chill juice sliding down his throat cooled Dominic's nerves. He exhaled, dropping the glass down, then stared at Everett. “You want to help me? I’d say, I’m surprised.” “Don’t be.” Everett dropped his own glass. “I’m repaying a debt.” Dominic narrowed his eyes. That didn’t sound right. After helping him, he had no intentions of being friends again? He sighed. “Whatever. You have a clothing line?” Everett nodded, “I understand Thales empire released one before the fall. If they are good products, they can still make a debut in the market but in cheaper prices.” That piqued Dominic’s interest. He had been thinking of debuting the clothing line, since he had Suzy Jones as standby model, but he worried for it’s quality. “I bet they have great designs but the quality might be less now so take a bit from the price. You might run little loss but it’d give you first popularity.” Everett advised. Hearing Everett give good advice impressed Dominic bec
Chapter Sixteen – A secretaryThe light flickered above Jamie. He groaned. That would be the third time he would be changing bulbs within two months. Was his roof leaking water? His phone beeped again. He glanced at it and it came from a strange number. He looked back at his computer. “Timely Gadgets, huh? Their rise to fame was quite quick but not necessarily suspicious. I guess they really have the Thales’ aura of fast success.” He scoffed. He read the source from the article of the Timely Gadgets he was reading. The name of the source seemed Russian. There had been some rumors that articles written from Russia were usually lies and paid by the celebrities spoken about. Jamie didn’t know what to make of it. There was barely any material on Timely Gadgets because they didn’t have a big online presence. But it seemed to be well known in Japan. He left the webpage and checked for ‘Casimir Jones’. Also not very known but he was mentioned in a blog page on giving charity to
Chapter Seventeen – The 15%“Casimir Jones is a financial advisor, and I remember, he’s from Japan. His sister was an illegal hacker and their mom, a second wife to a Japanese Billionaire.” Dominic was stunned. That was a little bit too detailed. “Illegal hacker?” The adorable Jean he saw? “She was notorious but because she was a minor then, she was forgiven by government, also she had quite the talent. She works for IT now.” Selene explained. Dominic looked down. If that was their true identity, why did they come to him as Casimir and Jean Jones from the Timely Gadgets? Was there something else amiss? Even adding that they were his grandfather’s adoptive brother’s grandchildren? What was going on? “I didn’t think anyone would come all the way from Japan just to scam me.” Dominic remarked, not wanting to take everything on face value. “Timely Gadgets seems to be a real company too.” Selene added, like she agreed with him. Dominic studied her, arms folded. She was his
