Rick tried to stall for some time as he kept praying the zombie jack should come in their direction. "I was just following orders as you would if you were in my shoes. Nothing personal, man." Rick said this with his hand up in the air.

"You had my life in a mess, and now I am going to take yours." Patrick said he was about to shoot Rick.

Jack's snarl got closer, and Patrick looked back to take a shot at him. Rick rushed at him, making him miss his target. He immediately had him pinned down and kicked in the gut. Jack snarled towards Rick, and he pushed him at Patrick. Rick locked the door as he heard the loud noise of Patrick being eaten by Jack.

Rick knew the world they lived in was either you were killed by the zombie or your fellow human killed you. He wasn't going to allow any of them. He was going to show humanity and rescue his family. He remembered the system had given him until nightfall. Rick wondered what might go wrong if he couldn't make it to his family that night.
