091: Memories - I
It was right after a small brawl that happened in the dead of night in a dark alleyway in the streets of Kyoto. I had beaten up five people, bare-handed, to unconsciousness. They were knocked out and some were even foaming. That is what happens when someone tries to touch my girl. I smiled victoriously.Just then, the sound of police cars approaching was heard.I immediately started running. Through the small roads and upon the roofs, I ran and climbed and jumped and climbed. I was having my own little parkour and the police were not even close to catching me.This had now become a routine for me. And I was quite used to giving the police a slip. I was confident that I will manage to get away this time for sure. Maybe it was due to the fact that I was overconfident or maybe it was because of the effect of overdosing, on one roof, I ended up tripping and fell face down on the hard concrete below.Luckily, I had managed to survive and I hadn’t sustained any major injuries to my head.La

When I opened my eyes, I found myself in the very same room I had escaped from. There was a woman beside me, busy on her phone. When she noticed that I was awake, she looked at me with a, “Oh, you finally awake?” and put her phone on the small table beside the bed.“You feeling well?” She asked, peering at my face. Her brown hair brushed against my face leaving a beautiful scent behind. Her hair was long and lustrous and she had a pair of blue eyes, just like ocean water reflecting sunlight.“Who are you?” I asked as I pressed on my head. It still hurt a bit.“What? You don’t remember me?” She mischievously flashed all her teeth at me and said, “I am the one who knocked you out.”It took me some time to make sense of what she said but when I did, I screamed with all my might.“You violent woman!”I immediately woke up and distanced myself away from her, with my back against the wall. She gave me a pout. “That’s not a good way of putting it. Though that’s perfectly on point!” She gave

After that, I started growing closer to Kaya. I was really thankful to her for finding Hayami for me.The three of us started spending time together. So much so that the other children started giving us weird looks. But, it didn’t matter to us. I discarded it as just mere jealousy on their part that I was spending so much time with two beautiful women.I had long since forgotten that I had to get out of this facility. There was no need for that now. I was happy with things as they were.As I continued to spend time with her, I got to know that although Kaya was impulsive and got angry quickly, she had a mature side to her befitting her age. There were countless times when the two of us engaged ourselves in discussing philosophical and psychological topics. Her opinions on such subject matters were insightful and more than worthy to spend time pondering. There was one such time when we were discussing random stuff when I asked her. Well, rather than a question, it was just a small line

“How are you doing, Kaya?” Sitting on the bed, with her legs crossed she had her phone to her ears.“I am fit and fine as usual!” A cheerful voice rang from the other side of the phone. One that Maki hadn’t heard in quite a while and one that was familiar to her. It was her sister, Sasaki Kaya.“I see. That’s good to hear.” Maki said. Then, she heard the sounds of horns and other vehicles.“Kaya, are you on the road?”“Ah, yes. I am currently driving.”“Driving? You know you shouldn’t drive when you are on the phone, right?” Maki tried to voice her concern.“You don’t need to worry, nee-chan! I will be fine.”“Well, not that you will listen to me. Though, still, be careful!”“Aye, aye, captain!”Maki sighed then a thin smile played over her lips. This was very like her sister. Doing whatever she pleased in whatever way pleased her – she has been this way ever since childhood. It was one of her charms and one of the reasons so many people loved and admired her.“By the way, where are y

End of Volume 2
This here brings an end to the second arc of the series 'Fakeness and Family'. This volume was sort of a bridging arc. At first, I had planned this volume to be the same length as the first one but when I continued writing it become far longer than I had originally planned. In this volume, some light was shed on the fakeness that our protagonist had and the complicated family relationship he has. But, we still don't know the full story yet. There are many things we have yet to know. Why exactly does Kageyama hate his mother so much? Why did his father die and why does he blame himself for his father's death? What is the sin he speaks of? And more importantly, who is this girl - Hayami? And why did Kaya refer to her as non-existent? There is something even more pressing here. What will happen afterward? All of these will be answered in the next volume which will be the final installment of this series. And sorry but, I think you guys will have to wait till next month for all t

I looked her straight in the eyes and replied in all honesty. “I am sorry, Hamasaki.” For a moment, her mouth opened a little then she closed it tight. Her thin glossy lips then went on to form a thin smile. A smile that said that she knew this was coming. Her hands were clasped tightly in front of her and all she could do was look on at me with her loving gaze. But, I didn’t avert her gaze and looked straight at her. This was the least I could do to respect the determination and courage she showed despite knowing the end result. A strong wind blew, and her long hair was sent flying in the air, blocking her face. She turned around and then she ran. Although her face was hidden by her long, lustrous hair, I was sure I had seen it. A drop of tears that contained a thousand painful emotions. “I wonder how many times has it been now?” I said as I looked up at the sky with my expression blank. Maybe eighteen? No. It should have already crossed twenty by now. Twenty. The number o
