Chapter one hundred and sixty one: tangled in dlanger
“How do we make it past them?” Ben asked.“It is impossible to go right through their midst and even if there was another passage at another end of the temple it would be unsafe,” Silas replied. Felix suggested that the only way in was to fight but they all disagreed. It was too risky.“I have an idea,” Danny spoke up and when he had their attention he explained. “I can manipulate light, so I’ll cause a distraction. I will lead them far away from the Temple while you all go inside,” “That sounds like a great idea but what if only a few get distracted and what about the ones inside the building, how do we deal with them?” Tyler asked.“We can handle it, all we need is to go in first,” Kelvin replied. Some minutes later Danny approached the aliens, yelling to have their attention. The plan was a success, they fell for his prank as they pursued after him in their number. Danny led them further away from the building and while they went after him he multiplied himself to get a broader at

“What do we do?” Thomas said, still watching the pulpit while Silas pressed his lips together in deep contemplation. While they were thinking of how to get past the aliens Thomas spotted Ben walk inside and without hesitation he pulled him behind the counter.“Shh,” he silenced him when he was about to yell. “What are you doing here?” Silas whispered with a frown on his face. Ben explained the situation to them and for a while they were stunned but disagreed to abort their initial plan.“I am not going to leave you here to die. The fact that I am the last runner doesn’t make me more important than any of you,” “This is not about who is more important, Thomas,” Ben said with an earnest gaze. “We are speaking about the fate of the world and I am a shape-shifter. It will be a lot easier for me to leave this place if I am alone so for the first time listen to me. Danny’s life is at stake and every moment we waste here worsens the case,” “He is right Thomas, we have to go,” Silas said.T

Chapter one hundred and sixty three: The selection
It took him ten minutes before he spotted the portal and when he had sight on it he realized it was only a matter of seconds before the portal was completely sealed. He hastened with heightened hopes but on reaching the portal he crashed to the floor. He jerked back to his feet as he attempted going through several times but his attempts were all in vain. The portal was open but because of the shield Thomas placed on it no one could either go in or out.Ben knew that they must have tampered with the portal but he never gave up hope. He kept yelling and struggling to make it through and at every moment spent the portal got more tin. Ben returned to his human shape. He looked behind at the numerous aliens racing towards him with great zeal to rend him apart. “Thomas!” He yelled, still struggling but there was no response. He went on and on until he became weary. The portal was already three times smaller than what a human could go through. Seeing there was no help Ben broke down in frus

Chapter one hundred and sixty four: The selection: part two
“They made it. They sealed the fourth dimension,” Gaius muttered. They heard loud screams from the alien creatures. It was the cry of retreat. The aliens refrained from any further attack as they left the kingdom through the portal. The environment could no longer be recognized. The green trees were rooted down due to the battle, the mountains and rocks were blasted open. The energy erupted by the powers of the runners and all their attempts to defend themselves and their territory turned the entire land to a wasted one. It was the true definition of an apocalyptic war, something that earth could not survive if it were unleashed there. While everyone’s eyes were fixed on the clouds the bright light began to appear in the palms of many of them. Each one that was selected for a race left the dimension immediately because they knew what they were supposed to do. To others, watching their friends and colleagues leave one after another seemed like they were under hallucination. They all k

Chapter one hundred and sixty five: Returning home
What will Thomas' friends say when they hear about his crazy adventure? They will possibly think he is insane. It might also be better if he never says a word about it. Still deep in his thoughts he was interrupted by the screeching sound of his bedroom door. It was Elvis and he walked in with Ana and Alex. “Is it time for the race?” Thomas asked quickly, sitting upright.“No, it’s not about the race,” Elvis stopped him promptly when he was about getting off the bed. “I have something else I want to tell you,” Thomas furrowed his eyebrows in uncertainty. He looked at Ana and Alex while they made their way to the bed. They both sat down on Thomas’s sides then fixed their gazes on Elvis who was standing before them.“I have a confession to make,” Elvis said. Thomas could see the regret in his eyes but right now all they could do was hear him out patiently.“What is it? You have our attention,” Ana responded.Elvis hissed, avoiding eye contact with them for a few seconds. “I messed up.

Chapter one hundred and sixty six: The Imprinted stopwatch
Everything Thomas has been through seemed like a dream and the moment he opened his eyes, he found himself lying on the exact spot he was struck by lightning. The first thing his eyes caught was the sight of the glaring full moon.He gently sat upright. His right hand was on his forehead which ached badly. He looked right to the shattered hot and the roof which was apart about seven feet away.Still confused by all that he laid his sight on, he jerked off the floor as he ran into his house to check up on his family. The power was still off so he grabbed a torchlight which was on the table in the sitting room, turning the torchlight on he flashed it on the table. The plates on the table were shattered and most of the dining chairs were broken. His eyes were full of fear as he turned to the stairs.“Ashley, Laura, Matt,” he called the names of his siblings but there was no response from any of them. He ran upstairs, checked their rooms but still there was nothing. The entire building was

Chapter one hundred and sixty seven: Trapped
Andy felt his heart racing as he placed his palm on his chest then looked forward. “Okay, if I am going to help you out then I’ll have to think like you. Even if it makes me sound crazy,”He chuckled. “I can’t believe I am about to say this,” he whispered then turned to Thomas. “What mission were you given to complete before the end of twenty four hours?” “Back there I was called the last runner and I was meant to finish a race in this dimension by finding a key but the thing is that I don’t know where to start,” Thomas answered frantically.Hearing him Andy lingered for a while. “One more question. What were you asked to do with this key, when you find it?” “They said I have to protect it,”“Oh my goodness, it’s a person,” “What!” Thomas exclaimed.“The key is a person. I sound crazy but I’ve watched many science fiction movies and anytime they talk about a key then it has to do with a person,” Andy tried to be plain but Thomas wasn’t buying the idea.“I don’t think what is happeni

The rest of the ride was spent in silence and when they arrived in a crime lab they ran the DNA test on the object and it appeared to be an unfamiliar young man who was Twenty eight years of age and has an interesting biography. The details showed that he had been vindicated for committing several crimes and has spent some good years in jail. It also appeared to be that he was in alliance with some scientist. Chapter one hundred and sixty nine: Dispute and the last try
“Such an interesting drama,” Dorian chuckled and staring at their faces he laughed out more vehemently.Greatly pissed Thomas turned to Andy. “This is what I was talking about but you wouldn’t listen,”“Just leave this to me,” Andy said then turned to Dorian who still laughing brought out his phone and standing upright started a live video.“Well… everyone, look who it is, the famous Thomas Celso and his sidekick Andy. They are standing at my doorstep as early as this so that I can grant them a favour. Can you believe that,” he mocked.Thomas frowned, bowing his face to the floor as he rubbed his thumb on his forehead. He knew that Dorian hated him but he also knows that the last football match he had played with Dorian before he was struck down by lightning must have amplified the hatred Dorian had for him and this must be his medium for payback.“So tell us, Thomas Celso. What do you want me your hero, the great and mighty Dorian do for you,” Andy said, still having his face cluster

The question came so unexpectedly that even Andy was shocked. He couldn’t get himself to figure out what Thomas was trying to do.“Even if you hate me this much, why will you put it on my family? Think about my little sister, Ashley is too young for these kinds of things…”“I don’t hate you, Thomas. Why on earth will I do that?” Dorian said.“Then what is this for?” Thomas asked.“I would have loved to help you but the truth is that I am a teenager and I am scared,” Dorian said as Thomas and Andy looked at him in uncertainty.“You are dealing with scientists. What if they find out through their advanced technology that I helped you to find them,” Dorian explained further then looked at Andy. “Does Andy even know the amount of risk he is taking? If I help you with this then when these people finds out they won’t come for your family alone, they will also come for my family,” Now it all made sense to Thomas. This was not about hatred or competition rather it was all about fear.“I get h
