CHAPTER 61
The wolf city was more than 10,000 miles away from the now-fallen cobra city, and the aerial route between the two islands was fraught with danger. However, the special military drone Myles and others were in traveled much faster than the speed of sound at about 22 kilometers above the ground, so it provided little to no time for many flying beasts to attack.Nevertheless, harpies were the most troublesome of all, for their screams wouldn’t just disrupt the radio signals but also send humans into a trance. When their numbers were high, they could destroy even the soundproof glasses with their screams. The drone fired hundreds of laser bullets, but that didn’t even bring the count of the harpies down by half.Shreya had to use her powers to send a psychic wave that knocked out most of the remaining harpies, making the rest scatter.Justin, Biskie, and Casey were greatly astonished by Shreya’s abilities.“Can you teach me how to get strong, ma’am?” Biskie quickly asked.Shreya looked at

CHAPTER 62
Myles might be one of the strongest mages, but he was also spiritually and physically sensitive because of his awakening. Due to the spiritual seal on his powers, he was no longer able to seal his carnality away like how he had done when Verella tempted him. The after effects of sealing his own carnal desires away was that his sexual desire would be unnaturally high right after the seal was taken away. When Casey started touching and squeezing his thigh, he found himself shivering. This only made her become all the more active in her approach, feeling that it was working. (This is easy. I bet nobody ever did this to him.) Casey thought, giggling on the inside. No bright lights were switched on inside the drone for safety purposes as lights would attract insects, but this only made things easy for Casey to do her work without getting noticed. (I’ll soon make him beg me for a quick fuck. I’ll make him my shield in the coming city.) She kept going at it, slowly moving her hand to the in

CHAPTER 63
Wolf city was an island with multiple climate zones. With almost a million square miles in area, it had thick forests as well as rocky barren lands. The drone landed at a parking zone, which was an extended rock on a cliff at 4000 meters high from the ground. The sheer wind blowing at that region made Biskie and Casey shiver as they stepped out of the vehicle.Biskie felt a little dizzy because it felt difficult to breathe at such a height.“I’m hungry, Justin,” Casey wrapped her arm around Justin. This was the third time she complained about hunger, not at all reading the situation they were in. Even though he was frustrated, he couldn’t scold her. He was more interested in observing the new surroundings. There were red-clothed humans with masks covering their faces from their noses and below. They were taking care of all those that arrived at the city.A dozen of these red-clothed men surrounded Myles and others and drew their swords out. Their eyes lacked any warmth. Casey and Bisk

The sword came slashing down at Myles’ head at a terrifying speed and seemed as if it would easily cleave him in two, but it didn’t.Its tip just missed Myles by an inch, which startled the double-chinned man who was a beta-ranked member of the Red Blade squad. (I missed? I’m sure I entered his range.)“This poor thing,” Myles was looking at a dragonfly whose feet got stuck in the cracks on the drone. Though it was one of the dragonflies that had attacked the drone in an attempt to kill him and others, he still pitied this animal as it reminded him of his pet dragonfly. As he approached, the double-chinned man warned, “You don’t want to do that. The dragonflies are easily irritable, and these diamond-backed dragonflies are known to be super strong and aggressive. If it ends up freeing itself, it can chew your face up in seconds.”Myles still approached the dragonfly which kept buzzing in anxiety. “Hey, buddy…” he gently called it.“It’s no use. You think a couple of words would calm d

Trial Quarters, as its name suggested, was a place where the outsiders would be put through trials to decide if they were worthy to step foot into the wolf city or not.Myles and the other three were left at the base of a steep cliff, and they weren’t alone. There were a few more survivors of the cobra city that had managed to get there. Both Kong and Sukazu were among them. They were all looking at the large guillotine. Those who failed to climb the rope and reach the top of the cliff in three attempts were taken to the guillotine and were beheaded then and there. Only the men were killed but the women were taken away into the nearby cave. The rope was forty feet long. Trying to climb it, some fell midway and broke their limbs or skull because they weren’t wearing any safety gear. They, too, were brought and beheaded the same way.“Anybody who isn’t even physically capable of climbing up a rope is not worthy of entering our city,” the executioner, a woke giraffe, said, laughing and f

Myles’ heart started beating faster after failing in his first attempt. It felt quite humiliating, but he was somehow able to smile through it. He had to, or the spiritual seal would only strengthen its influence on him.“Get your ass up,” a guy struck Myles with a whip. “Try it again.”Myles barely cringed. Still, he got up with effort. He had to take that little rest as his arms were still hurting. He blew his breath on his arms before trying for the second time. However before he could climb ten feet, he was viciously hit by the whip, forcing him to immediately let go of the rope.He looked back at the pointy-nosed man, who casually snorted and said, “You took your sweet ass time on the ground, so I made the second attempt a little harder. You should start the third attempt right now if you don’t want me to disturb you again.”Myles controlled his anger as that would be wasting energy as well. He spat on his palms before trying for the third time. He didn’t use any leg-lock techniq

CHAPTER 67
There were four types of mages in the world, ranging from alphas, betas, and deltas, to omegas. In the past, there was only one kind called Omegas who were naturally affected by the changes in the world and developed new powers like the beasts and plant life. They were the ones who saved humanity in the past. However, over time, more and more omegas died, and less of them were born. This was why humanity was forced to absorb the star crystals and thus become mages on their own. Mages created this way were called Betas in their initial stages. However, upon awakening of at least one ability, they were called alphas.Deltas, on the other hand, were mages who never absorbed any star crystal but used the star seals manufactured by humanity to fight the monsters. Star seals also came with many risks and side effects, but the desperation for survival forced humanity to keep using the star-seals.Delta level mages were divided into four stages: Tyro, Genteel, Adept, and Expert.Kong was an e

CHAPTER 68
Animal eyes were much more sensitive to movements compared to that of humans, so the woke animals sitting in the audience stands were able to better see through Buller’s speedy movements compared to the human participants most of whom had no idea what was coming at them.Buller’s electric chainsaw tore through the necks of the participants left and right. In the first ten seconds, forty-five of them lost their heads, until a cannon-ball of fire struck Buller and sent him packing into the wall.“Wow,” the audience exclaimed. Their eyes focused on an old man with a spotty face who was none other than Sukazu who was rubbing his cannon arm, with a smirk on his face.Casey, Biskie, and a couple other women among the participants started screaming as blood poured out like mini-fountations from the decapitated humans, while their heads rolled all around. It was spine-chilling to say the least. One woman fainted then and there.Buller, as expected, wasn’t down from that hit. He wasn’t angered

With a tough shield in hand, buying a few seconds didn’t seem like an impossible task to Justin, but the same wasn’t the case for Casey or Biski. They couldn’t believe that he ran toward the humanoid bull instead of staying there and defending. However, Myles, having just opened his eyes, looked at things differently.“He’s distancing himself,” Myles thought. “If he were to stay next to the women, the opponent can take down all three of them together, but separating himself from others would help buy time. He might just make us pass while sacrificing himself.” Myles once again was reminded why he had chosen to heal Justin in the past even after he had just been reincarnated and was not at all inclined to save even an ant at that point.Buller didn’t wait until Justin closed the distance. He charged the chainsaw with electricity, and it flew off of the machine like sparks and crashed on the metal shield. Justin didn’t get pushed back but got rooted to the ground instead as electricity

The contest that had taken place at the arena was being live-telecasted on one of the channels all around the wolf city. It got millions of views because of the drama it had created.“The battle between fire and electricity was good.”“We were all wanting Buller to lose. When was the last time Ruff stepped onto the arena? He really showed everyone that he’s in a different league, didn’t he?”“It lasted till the last second. It was highly dramatic. I still have no idea how the four humans survived such a powerful lightning blast, though. With no visible injuries at that.”“Yeah. Perhaps, they were applying CG graphics on live-feed just to get high TRP?”“Whether they used graphics or not, we’ll know when we meet those humans in the flesh.”“I can’t wait to test their strength myself, haha.”Meanwhile, Myles and the other five winners of the Trial Quarters were provided a free meal by Ruff who then personally dropped them off at one of the main entrances leading into the city.“Once you
