CHAPTER 81
Taron wonders what it was that had been bugging Rebecca. Then he remembered what had happened. “Maybe Quinn gave her something to be mad about.” He said, unamused and continued with his work without worrying about it further. Rebecca, on the other hand, was fuming. While she had been worried the day before, Taron had left her with her jerk of an ex boyfriend, and went to go to a party. She even saw the pictures! He took a picture with Miss World by his side, and one of his hands was sneaking across her waist. Rebecca saw the picture on Gossip Baby immediately it was posted and got irritated by the number of people who were shipping Taron with Miss World. Rebecca had even gone to the lady’s page to confirm for herself that it was not a photoshopped photo, when she saw that the woman had posted the picture and captioned it, and Taron had even commented under the post. Did he have absolutely no shame? She fumed. Then Rebecca remembered that she had no right to be angry, and that

CHAPTER 82
Taron was tired of the mixing up with people that he was tired of meeting, and some that he had already met earlier, and the terrible headache that he had was not helping matters. “I wish we could leave this place.” Taron said, whispering into Rebecca’s ear. Rebecca mistook his intentions and turned to him with a flirtatious smile. “Why? Are you that bored?” “Bored is an understatement. I’m tired of this place,” Taron said. “if only something interesting would happen.” “It’s always fun and games in the invitations until you keep on seeing the same people to talk about the same things and playing the same games to eat the same food all the time.” Rebecca agreed, eager to please her boss. A woman approached them and tapped Taron from the back. “Taron!” She squealed. Taron turned back in surprise. “Freya!” They exchanged handshakes. “Seeing you for the second time this month.” “Looks like we are being given a sign.” She chuckled and pushed some hair that was in her

CHAPTER 83
Rebecca understood why she felt bitter whenever she saw Taron talking to other woman, and although the truth had been quite obvious for a while, it was surprising to her when she was able to admit the truth to herself. She had done the one thing that she had said she would not do, and that was to fall in love with her boss. “How did I let this happen?” She asked as she got into the bus. Her car was having issues and she was already late to work, so there was no time to fix it. She had pondered over it and wondered what to do with her feelings. She really wanted Taron to know, and she hoped he reciprocated her feelings. And even that did not seem possible. Taron was just a nice guy to people in general, not just to her. She planned not to bottle her crush on him up, but to just do nothing about it. If, for any reason, he asked her about who she had feelings for, she would tell him the truth, and if he did not ask anything related to what she felt for him, then there was no rea

Taron was going to take a break when the call came in from his mother. He ignored the call and leaned back, closing his eyes. The call came in again and he picked it up, knowing that she would continue to bug him if he ignored her. “Mom, I was trying to get some rest.” Taron said in annoyance. “Did you have to call me that bad?” “I’m sorry baby, but I have news for you, and it’s concerning that girl that was your former girlfriend.” Eloise said gravely. “What did she do now?” Taron asked in annoyance. “She did not do anything, she can’t do anything now because she is dead.” Eloise said to him. “Now, what are you taking about, mom?” Taron asked. “At this point, I’m sure that you live under a rock.” Eloise replied, and Taron could imagine her rolling her eyes as she said that. “Fine, I’ll check.” I said, sitting up on the sofa. My phone started to ring again and I picked the call. It was from Selena. “Taron?” An unfamiliar voice asked. “Who is this?”

CHAPTER 85
It’s such a beautiful day. No unnecessary noise, and people— well dressed people are minding their business as they go around their daily activities. I have nothing to worry about as I am finally at peace for the first time in a long while and this feels terrific. Also— A car honking interrupted Taron’s internal monologue and he turned around to glare at whoever it was that had just disturbed his peace. For the first time in a very long time, Taron had left his home to go and take a walk. And unguarded too. He felt that he was getting so used to having security around him, even if he could not see them most times unless he called one out to do something for him, that if something happened, he feared that he would not be able to function properly unless his men were around. With everything that had been happening around him lately, Taron felt like he needed the solitude of a walk. He used to go on works regularly before he got the life that he was living currently, and doing it n

CHAPTER 86
The past month had been rough as he had to attend cases as the most important witness to Steve Garrick’s death, and he was the one that Steve Garrick was trying to attack before Steve got shot dead by an unknown shooter. Everything had passed, and to Taron’s surprise, there was a trial for Steve and he was found guilty for stalking and attempted murder, but Taron did not think much of it since Steve was going to be buried some time soon. He decided to go to South Africa, mainly because Rebecca had said that she had always wanted to go there and Taron was trying to appease her because she had been doing work that she was not expected to do. Work, referring to how she was with easing how dangerous the world of the wealthy was, and it was not her fault. Taron honestly did not really like the idea of leaving to go on a vacation, as he felt that there was still much more. He wanted to, actually, he just felt that it would be inappropriate for him to leave. But then, on the bright si

Taron was enjoying himself so much that there were some moments when he forgot that he had things running. He did not realise that he needed the escape from his reality, a chance to feel normal again, especially after all he had been through. And Rebecca was so happy. All the time. She was usually a cheerful person, but Taron felt that this place had unlocked something in her, and he was happy to be a part of the process. He wanted the people around him to be happy. “Sir!” Rebecca ran out from somewhere Taron could not see from towards him. She carried a toy gun in her hand. “What is that?” Taron asked, lowering his sunglasses and focusing on her hand. Rebecca chuckled. “It’s just a water gun, don’t worry about it.” “Oh.” Taron nodded, not knowing why she had a water gun, but letting it slide all the same. “Come and win yours too, when you do that, we would be able to play.” Rebecca said, the excitement flowing through her voice. “I can just buy one, you know?” Taro

“We’ve only spent two weeks, mom, what do you want me to do? Come back?” Taron chuckled as he spoke to his mom who talked about him coming to see her with so much excitement in her voice. “Once I get back, you would be the first person that I would come to see, so you don’t have to worry about not seeing me anytime soon since we’ve got only two more weeks before we get back.” Taron assured his mother. “I’m going outside.” Rebecca whispered to Taron before leaving the suite. Taron nodded and gave her a thumbs up. As soon as Rebecca left the place, Taron heard a loud crash and hurriedly spoke. “Mom, I’m on vacation and you’re making me worry now, I’ll see you in two weeks, bye!” Taron hurriedly cut the call and went to reach for a knife before moving around to with quiet, steady footsteps to see what was going on. “Put your hands on your head, right where I can see them.” Someone said from the back in a gruff voice. Taron turned around slowly to see a man with a long

Taron opened his eyes groggily, and everything looked blurry to him. He felt a dull pain in the side of his head, and his body felt like he was continually being stepped on by a giant bear with metal legs while sopranos sang at extreme high pitches to torture him. “Where am I?” His voice sounded too hoarse, even. “Our golden boy has finally opened his eyes, haha!” Someone said. Taron blinked continually until his eyes were finally able to focus. He was sitting down, and he looked down on his body and realised with a start that he was tied up. “What is going on?” He shouted, looking around too fast. That made his head and body ache even more. Taron studied his surroundings. He was in some sort of dull, empty room, and save for him, the dust and some cobwebs, and a dimly lit bulb, the room seemed to be empty. And for the man who had spoken to him earlier too. “Where am I?” Taron asked trying to see if he would be able to somehow slip out of his ropes. A hand tapped his

Rebecca had landed, but as it turned out, some of her money had been stolen. Somehow. She cursed her sudden bad luck and called Taron’s driver to pick her up at the airport. After an hour of chasing men away, and a lot of pent up anger, the driver arrived and Rebecca made her way into the car. “What took you so long?” She asked after exchanging greetings. “I’m sorry, I had to get gas for the car.” The driver explained and started the car. “Where is master?” “Something very bad has happened. I need you to take me to the police.” Rebecca said, tears rushing from her eyes. “Okay.”- “So, you’re telling me that Mr McCarthy got attacked and somehow, you were unscathed? They did not take you?” The policeman looked at Rebecca in disbelief and one could tell that they did not believe her. Rebecca sighed. She had made the wrong decision by going to see these people. She turned back to leave. “Ma’am, you’re not allowed to go anywhere, this is a serious matter.” One of them
