CHAPTER 21: MAHO JO
“Is Abigail actually your mother?” Sydney asked, staring at Leo. “Well, uhm…she,” Leo stuttered, unsure on whether to tell Sydney the truth or not. “I already guessed so, there’s no need to lie about it. As soon as I saw the pearl necklace around your neck, I already knew but I don’t get why Darwin and Varrick would lie to me,” she replied, storming out of the flower garden. Leo followed her as his thoughts wandered. Was it a bad thing for Sydney to find out about his mother? “DARWIN, VARRICK!” Sydney exclaimed, barging into the common room where they sat. Varrick and Darwin glanced at themselves in confusion. “Why are you screaming?” Darwin asked, as he gazed at Sydney who stood at their front and crossed her arms. Sydney did not mutter a word. She stared at them, coldly. Suddenly, Leo popped out in front of them. “She found out,” Leo said under his voice. “Found out what?” Varrick asked, standing up from the couch. “Abigail is his mother and you found it best to

CHAPTER 22: MEETING THE MAGIC KING
“The current magic king and the very first magic king is Alex, Abigail’s first love when she entered into Scarlet Magical High School. I will never forget their love story. They were the most beautiful couple at that time,” Sydney spoke, reminiscing about the past. “Yeah, right,” Darwin responded, flinging his face away. “But, you cannot deny the fact that it is true,” Syndey said, gazing at Darwin. Varrick laughed, watching the two argue. “I never knew my mom had a first love,” Leo said calmly, as he looked at her pearl necklace, placed on his neck. “I won’t say first love, but he was like her only love,” Sydney added. “But when he came, things fell apart between them.” “Who is the he?” Leo asked. “There’s no need for you to find out. It’s all in the past now,” Varrick said. “For now, let’s find our way to the Maho Jo. They all got ready to leave for the Maho Jo. Leo was more excited that anyone. He stepped out of the brothel and looked the sky. The sun had begun to set and t

Chapter 23: Reunion
“Alex!” exclaimed Varrick as Alex descended from the stairs. It was the 2nd Magic King of Aranthia, Alex Maho. Alex walked up to them and gave them a warm embrace. “You finally came back to Ivandale after many years of your disappearance,” Alex said as he stepped back. “Let’s continue this talk on the dining table, I planned a welcoming party specially for you guys.” “I’m touched, Ale- I mean, Magic King,” Darwin spoke as they walked to the table. After they arrived, the chefs began to arrange the food on the table. They sat down comfortably before Alex realized that they had an extra. “Who is that?” Alex asked. Leo was captivated by the interior of the Maho Jo, he did not hear Alex talking to him. Varrick kicked his feet a little. “Back to Earth, Leo,” he whispered to him. “Sorry, what did you say?” Leo asked, as he slightly gazed at Alex. “Introduce yourself, young lad,” Alex said as he carried a glass cup of water and drank. “I’m Leo Hu and I’m 17 years old,” Leo respon

CHAPTER 24: MUTATED BOAR
“WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE?” Leo screamed, his voice lacing with anger as a frown crawled on his face. Leo rushed into the partially destroyed kiosk with Jason drawing the attention of the wild boar. “Leo, be careful,” Jason said, as he watched Leo enter the kiosk, full of anger. “I hope he does not take any rash decision,” he whispered to himself, worried. “Come here, you demonic creature!” Jason began to attack the wild boar. “Impact: Windy fist,” he said, releasing a powerful gust of wind, which was shaped as a fist. Meanwhile, Leo who entered into the building, searched for the baker. “Miss Timmy,” he called out, as he passed through the serving area and into the baking area. The surrounding was dusty and dark. Little by little, the kiosk fell. From the woods holding the kiosk, to the ceiling, the bakery crumbled. “Miss Timmy, please answer me,” Leo called, as he coughed affected by the dust. “Curse that wild boar.” Suddenly, Leo stumbled on a broken glass and he mi

CHAPTER 25: FIRST FRIEND
Leo stared at the boar, frightened. A lot of thoughts went through his head. “Inhumane child? What a rude thing to say,” said Jason, snaring at the boar. “Eradicate Leo like his mother was eradicated,” the boar spoke, smiling cunningly. Leo gazed at the boar and after it mentioned the death of his mother, he felt a surge of fury burst from him. The smirk on it’s face, made him more infuriated. “Disgusting,” Leo whispered as his fingernails got buried into his palms. Leo’s eyes became blue, his magical aura became very strong. “What’s this aura?” Jason questioned as he saw Leo’s other side. The boar could feel the strong aura coming from Leo. Its smirk turned into a frown. It knew that the Leo he had faced before is now different. It took a step backward and released the same attack he used against Leo. But this time, Leo’s water wall was more powerful. The boar was surprised. It tried to release the attack a second time, thinking that Leo’s defense was just a fluke. “Infinit

Chapter 26: Confrontation
“That was what happened, Leo was so amazing,” Jason said to them on the dining table. “You're just exaggerating. You were more amazing,” Leo counterattacked as his head swelled. After defeating the boar, Leo and Jason went back to the Maho Jo, where Jason explained everything that had happened to Varrick, Darwin, Sydney and Alex. “Nice save, boy,” Sydney praised. “I thought you would be a wimp and run away.” “That’s amazing. You are more than prepared to go to Scarlet Magic High School,” Darwin said, impressed. “Thank you Master Darwin and Sydney but I am still yet to learn how to control it. Meaning, I am still learning,” Leo responded. “No need to be humble about it. We know you like the praise,” Varrick said, hitting Leo on his back and chuckling. Leo fringed and removed Varrick’s hand from his back. “Yeah, right,” Leo said as he glimpsed at Varrick. “I did not think you’ll outshine Jason in a battle against a mere boar. I’m sorry that he was weak and you-” “Dad, I’m not

Chapter 27: Perfect Plan
“It was obvious for someone who was close to Abigail. She was the only person in Ivandale, who was strong enough to seal off a person’s magic orb,” Alex said. Darwin threw his face away, knowing fully well that he had completely forgotten about that. “We totally forgot,” Varrick whispered to Darwin. “Yeah, right,” Darwin said. “We did not mean it this way; we were just trying to protect Leo.” Alex became confused. “I don’t understand what you mean by protect Leo?” Alex asked, trying to clear his confusion. Darwin sighed as he rubbed his chin. “Well, you know… we thought that you would arrest him and then brand him a rebel and kill him,” he said, looking away from Alex. Suddenly, Alex burst into laughter. “Sorry, sorry… but, why did you think that?” Alex questioned, still laughing. “He is the son of your mortal enemy. The reason most of your family members are dead,” Varrick replied, with no remorse. “But he is also the son of Abigail and he did not grow up with the dragon k

Chapter 28: First Encounter
After the perfect plan suggested by Varrick the previous day, Leo and Jason set out and started Leo’s preparation into Scarlet Magic High School. It was a new day and the ray of sunlight penetrated through the curtains of Leo’s room. He had slept over in the Maho Jo because he needed Jason’s help. Soon enough, he heard a knock on his door. “Leo, rise and shine. You only have a week and I only have this weekend,” Jason said, speaking through the wall. Leo’s eyes quickly opened as he sat upright on the bed. He stretched his hands in the air and yawned. “I’ll be down in a few minutes,” Leo replied as he slid his feet into the flip flops. He stood up and he walked in the bathroom to refreshen up. He was done and he left his room, meeting Jason downstairs. “Let’s go,” Jason said, as they walked out of the Maho Jo. Leo followed Jason blindly, without really knowing what they were going to do. “Uhm… Jason, where are we heading to?” Leo questioned, gazing at Jason as they walked out

Chapter 29: Carmichael the Dwarf
The man made a futile attempt to escape after grazing Leo’s face. “Mild flare: Gunshot,” Leo said, releasing little fire bullets from his palms, which was shot at the man. The man groaned; the pain of small fire bullets made him collapse. Leo was satisfied as he rubbed his hands together. He walked up to the man and bent over to confirm if the man had really passed out. “Okay, he’s not breathing but he’s not dead. Good enough for a criminal like him,” Leo said, standing upright. The young lady, who he saved, ran up to him and unconsciously touched his face. “Are you okay?” she asked as she used her handkerchief to clean the graze on his face, which had begun to bleed again. Leo remained silent. He was too stunned to talk. He had never imagined that a day would come when a pretty lady would hold his face. Before he realized it, his face turned red. As the lady cleaned his cheeks, he stared right into her eyes. Seconds passed and she stopped smearing his face after she met his g

Chapter 30: Sword Matching Affinity
“Let’s go, what are you waiting for?” Carmichael said as he walked away. “We’re… we’re right behind you,” replied Leo as he followed him into another chamber, together with Jason. They walked into the work chamber, where all the wielding, crafting and smelting is done. It was dark, with a little furnace at the center, making the place warm. “Hot!” Leo exclaimed as he used his hand as a fan. “Behind the scenes of the magic swords seen in the display room,” said Carmichael as he turned on a switch, which illuminated the entire chamber. “This is so cool,” Jason said. “Simply amazing.” “Jeez, you don’t need to say it out loud,” Carmichael replied, his voice lacing with pride. “Creepy,” Leo muttered under his voice as he watched the dwarf fund over compliments. They walked round the furnace and to a crafting table, where a black blade with a black handle, with traces of red on it, laid. Carmichael carried the sword from the table and followed the blade with his hands.
