Chapter 16: Viable Option

Ethan raised a brow. He remarked, “Rebelling is a very strong word there, Mr. Time Keeper.”

The lizardman gave a huge snort. As he looked at the both of them with resentment, he remarked, “Do you think you are the only delivery guy out there? I can always order to someone else!”

Ethan shrugged his shoulders before he replied casually, “Sure, but how long would others take if they were in a different quadrant ey? Of course, time is precious for all Time Keeper, right?”

Just as Ethan said that the lizardman stiffened. He then glared at Ethan and said with unmasked annoyance, “Do you job like I do mine! You cannot save people from this site! Their new memories could not be erased!”

He then asked coldly, “What if you save him, one of them destroys an entire galaxy or a universe ... will you be responsible for that?”

She glared at him, but her words made sense when Ethan suddenly asked, “Could they be Irregular like us?”

The lizardman shook his head. He remarked with unmasked displeasure, “Even if they are, they still cannot be saved as there are too many! The Irregular has no memory, so they can go from a timeline to a timeline, but those people would be with their family, and that would keep their memories alive. They would clearly know who they are and where they come from!”

He added, in anger, “Do you understand?! It is not possible! Those people must die!”

Ethan clenched his hands tightly and was about to protest when Chronna spoke once more.

“Yes! I understand! It’s too much, and memory is the problem!” She said while looking at the lizardman expressionlessly.

The lizardman looked at her and nodded.

He replied, “Exactly. If they at least had no memory, we could save some, but it’s impossible!”

But Chronna looking up and said, “But there are people in that town who do not remember anything!”

Ethan looked at her, and the lizard, with a snort, began to listen to her theory.

She looked at both of them and remarked, “It’s the babies! They can’t remember any of this! Surely they can be irregular, can’t they?”

“That is a fantastic idea! Babies have no memory! They will be raised as Irregular and will be able to survive!” Ethan said while looking at her with bright eyes.

The lizardman thought for a while, trying to refute that idea, but clearly, there was not much to say.

What she said actually met the requirements.

The lizardman shook his head. He released a sigh and then looked at them with unmasked annoyance.

“Fine. That’s okay. Babies may be a viable option. But you only have thirty minutes to rescue them all. Otherwise, the planet will explode. If you are what you propose this, you will have to go there and bring them. I will not move a scale,” he said with utmost seriousness.

Just as he said that Chronna immediately started trotting towards the harbor outside the ship.

“Yes! I didn’t expect you to do anything anyway!” Chronna suddenly yelled while looking at the lizardman.

Ethan looked at her, and they both started running towards the bridge to jump onto the planet and move towards the town.

They advanced while the lizardman looked at his watch with a dry smiled. He then glanced at Ethan and Chronna’s back as they ran as fast they could.

“They will never make it! Fools!” He muttered with a complicated expression.

After he said that, he swallowed another huge piece of pizza as Chronna advanced along the bridge next to him.

Both of them were approaching the door of the ship.

“I’m sorry we can’t save everyone!” Ethan worriedly said.

Chronna sadly nodded and said, “Don’t worry, and we have to focus on who we can save.”

And with those words, they both left the bridge of the ship.

The town was not that far but the situation worsened by the second, the lightning fell with less interval, and the earth began to shake.

As they approached, Ethan activated his computer on his bracelet and searched.

When he found the planet, he looked for the year and the population, and when he did that, he knew the number of babies, there were.

Ethan suddenly stopped in his tracks.

When Chronna saw him, she stopped as well and said anxiously, “Come on, Ethan, we don’t have time to waste!”

Ethan looked at the projection on his arm. He was gritting his teeth as he replied, “This will be very difficult!”

He released a sigh and then placed a needle on the ground. Ethan was making a map, huge enough for both of them to see.

There were around thirty babies and all very far apart. Without a doubt rescuing all these people would be quite complicated.

Chronna was full of determination. She assured, “We can do it! We can only try!”

And with speed, they both got to work.

Chronna looked at the graph in the hologram, and it showed exactly the location of each child in the town, she looked at them, and the separations were very long, with the counter deducing there was not much time.

She looked at Ethan and remarked, “We cannot look for all of them in time, there are too many, and they are far apart!”

Ethan nodded and calmly searched his backpack, a strange smile on his face, and Chronna looked at him puzzled.

He looked up and, taking out two small key chains in the shape of shoes.

“This is what we need. Without this, without a doubt, we can reach all those places!” Ethan determinedly said.

Chronna saw him puzzled. She did not understand what she meant, but Ethan took the buttonhole of the keychains and pulled them, and like a grenade, two pairs of sliders appeared in her hand.

Chronna opened her eyes in surprise, and Ethan, with a smile, said, “Put them on, and you can move as if you were skating in the air! It’s so much faster than just running!”

She smiled and quickly put them on. When she put them on, she felt them slowly rise, and with a smile, she said, “Well, there is no time to lose!”

Without waiting for another second, Chronna shot towards the town, Ethan saw her move, and the speed of her with her sliders was incredible, and that was the first time she used them, with a smile on her face, said, “How she’s so good at moving things!”

And getting into gear, he also shot out. She was almost in town when Ethan caught up with her and calmly handed her a small portable screen.

The young woman saw it and realized that it was a radar that marked the exact place where the children were. All the points had two red and yellow colors.

Ethan excitedly said, “You take the yellow ones, the red ones, and I’ll take them!”

The girl looked at him and, nodding, and said, “Good luck!”

When she would bolt, Ethan screamed, “Take them to the lizardman’s ship!”

And she raised her hand and showed him her thumb to let him understand that she had grasped her plan, separating, they both began to cross the town, as fast as he could.
