Chapter One Hundred & Seventy-One

Clara decided to visit Melanie after what she heard from Jamal concerning her. She got to her uncle's house and surprisingly, the front door was locked.

She knocked and Melanie hurriedly opened the door, shouting.

“I thought I asked you to leave-” Melanie said.

She thought it was Jamal who knocked and that was why she locked the door in the first place, to prevent him from coming in.

“Okay?” Clara said, shocked.

She didn't expect such a welcome but she took it anyway.

“I'm sorry, I thought you were,” Melanie paused.

“Sorry about that,” she said.

“Who did you ask to leave?” Clara asked.

“It's fine, it's nothing,” Melanie tried to.

She didn't want to elongate the topic so she decided not to say anything about it.

“It is something and I know it,” Clara observed.

Melanie was tired of being persuaded to talk about it.

“Yes, there is something, happy?” Melanie said curtly.

“Was it Jamal?” Clara asked.

She knew it was only him that could make Melanie act out of place or vice versa.
