CHAPTER 52

The night air was thick with tension as Leon paced back and forth in his makeshift office. The encounter with Marcus still weighed heavily on his mind, the seed of doubt firmly planted. He knew he had to tread carefully. If Marcus was truly a traitor, confronting him too openly could tip him off and put the entire operation at risk.

A knock on the door pulled him out of his thoughts. Mya entered, her eyes scanning his face for clues about his inner turmoil. "Leon, you look like you’ve seen a ghost. What’s going on?" she asked, her voice soft but probing.

Leon hesitated for a moment. He wanted to confide in Mya, to tell her about the list, about Marcus, but he knew the danger of spreading distrust without solid proof. Instead, he forced a tight smile. "Just strategizing. This whole situation with The Order is getting more complicated by the minute."

Mya didn’t look convinced, but she nodded slowly. "If you say so. Just remember, you’re not alone in this. We’re all in it together." She
