Chapter 7 - The First Mission!

Matilda's voice was soft and slow, like a whisper from behind the door.

It made Jack quickly get up from his bed and open the door.

"Yes, I'm awake, Mom!"

"I'm sorry to disturb you, but this time I bring good news, or maybe very good news!"

"Yes? What is it, Mom?"

"Do you remember Lily of the Reynolds family?"

Matilda looked at Jack with sparkling eyes, hoping that her son would remember the beautiful girl.

Jack, of course, knew nothing about Lily or the Reynolds family. But he answered very appropriately.

"Mom, I may not remember the girl you mentioned! But you can tell me anything!"

That was just the answer Matilda wanted!

"All right, if you don't mind! The Reynolds family is going out of town for three days and they have to leave their daughter at home! They asked me to take care of their daughter while they're gone! But I might be too old for that job, so I'm really confused now!"

Matilda said with a slightly sad and confused expression on her face.

Of course, the woman did not have any reason to offer such a job to Jack, other than for him to spend some time with Lily Reynolds.

"I'm sure once he sees Lily he'll fall for her," the woman thought to herself.

"How about it, Jack, are you ready to... replace me?"

Jack was on the verge of a hearty laugh in his heart.

How could he refuse a job every man dreams of?

"Besides being alone with a girl, I will be earning money, so how could I turn it down?" he said in his heart.

"Don't worry, mom! I'll do it!"

Jack replied with a smile on his face and a wink in one eye.

Matilda, who knew nothing about Jack's system, was touched by this answer.

"My son Jack has really changed! He finally listens to me!" she thought happily.

After breakfast, Jack quickly changed his clothes, which were appropriate for going to the Reynolds' home.

At first, his mother asked him to dress formally, but he politely refused.

"Mom, it would be too much if I wore a suit, and it might make her uncomfortable! I'm sure casual clothes are more appropriate for a relaxed situation on a bright morning like this!"

Thirty minutes later.

Jack arrived at the front gate of a residential complex where a security guard stopped him.

"Stop! Who are you and what is your business here?"

He asked in a harsh tone, looking Jack up and down with a disdainful look.

Wearing a white shirt with rolled up sleeves, long light blue denim pants, and a pair of white sneakers on both feet, Jack's appearance was anything but above ordinary.

In fact, it was quite cool!

However, the security guard, feeling jealous, refused to look at Jack properly.

"He's acting like a rich kid, but I know he's just a stupid and poor young man looking for a job! Be it as a driver or a janitor! He should wear a real uniform!"

Before Jack could answer this question, the guard scolded him again.

"Hey, you must be looking for a job, right? Go away! There's no job for you here! We're just looking for a professional with experience, not a poor amateur like you!"

"I'm not..."

Jack tried to explain that he wasn't what he was accused of being.

He just wanted to do a part-time job.

But before he could finish, the guard raised his hand.

"Get out of here right now! I don't want to hear anything more from you! Get out of my sight before I break both your legs!" he shouted loudly with glaring eyes.

Although annoyed, Jack had no choice but to give in and leave the place.

"Fine! I'm leaving now!" he said, raising both hands.

Once he was far away from the guard, Jack couldn't hold back his emotions.

"Damn! How could he treat me this way without even hearing my answer? Does he think that someone is defined by their looks?"

Indeed, Jack realized the meaning of his last words.

As the son of a billionaire, he understood that in the eyes of the people, appearances would always come first.

Jack experienced this himself.

When he wore a suit everywhere he went, people happily opened car doors for him without asking.

Not only that, but they would always speak politely in front of him, saying good things about his life.

However, since he left the Eldrone Mansion and became a poor young man, everything changed drastically.

Those who once knew him now openly despised him.

Throughout the Riverchester Province, almost all talk of Jack was insults and ridicule.

Meanwhile, people who didn't know him, such as those in Carltown, where Jack tried to survive with any job he could find, treated him no better.

As someone without a home or a job at first, they looked at him like he was trash or dirt!

"No! No! I must not be discouraged by the treatment of that idiot security guard!" Jack said, trying to cheer himself up.

The last three years of living in misery had taught him to have a strong heart and mind.

He needed to focus on his goal.

"I have to find a way to get to that rich family's house!" he decided.

Jack then walked a little farther from the gate and headed toward the back of the complex.

Ahead of him, he saw the back fence of a row of luxurious three-story houses.

The fence was very high, but that wasn't a problem for Jack.

With the martial arts skills he had been training since he was eight years old, and being trained directly by masters from around the world, Jack should be more than capable of defeating national fighters, even if ten of them attacked him at once!

And one more thing.

If he did not fight back when Catherine's bodyguards kicked him out of his house, it was because he was still very much in love with the girl at that time.

He was afraid that if he insisted on returning to the house, it would only make her angrier.

In his heart, he hoped that one day she would open her heart to him again, a hope that even Jack himself hated in the end.

Therefore, Jack was not afraid to face the security guard earlier.

It's just that he had learned to control himself and not be provoked by trivial things.

"You never know, do you, that your martial arts skills will come in very useful at a certain time!"

That's what his father said on the first day of his training.

However, at that moment, memories of his father came back to him, making him miss him, but also making him regret his actions of accusing his father of being an evil man.

"Forgive me, dad, for being so blinded by love that I couldn't see the truth!"
