Encounter with a goblin

[Creature: Goblin

Description: A low-level type of monster, who was known for its grotesque appearance, greenish skin, and vicious, cunning, and sadistic.

Note: Once you see them, check twice if they died, or they can grab you along with them on the journey to hell.]

Of course, Isaac knew the hell of them. They are low-level, but they were the most hated monster in the early level of the game. Newbies always fall from their tricks, like playing dead, and embarrassingly Isaac was one of them. The System probably trying to warn him out of sincerity, but Isaac felt it was for him to remember the humiliation the goblin brought on him.

Isaac even remembered many NPC’s issuing missions regarding the goblin. The most tragic of them all was a father issuing a mission for an adventurer to save his daughter, who was abducted by the goblin. The father and the child only wanted to have their joyous moments by spending their time on a picnic, but due to his ignorant. He didn’t know they were near the dungeon. It was then a goblin, who was on a mission to loot resources outside, saw them and immediately returned back to his cave, calling his other friends.

The father fought hard but was defeated by the sheer quantity of goblins. The latter kept sneering at him, and they even throw him far from the dungeon once the father was knocked out. The father immediately called the guards for help but ignored them. The guards even pointed out how useless he was, for him to be a father who couldn’t even protect his daughter. Deeply saddened and lamented himself, he could only go back to his ramshackle and tried to find something valuable inside, but it was only a broken piece of an object, which held no value according to his understanding.

However, it was only something valuable he had, because the object had been passed by his ancestors to his descendants. He could only hope the adventurer’s association would accept his request, and they posted it on the mission board quest. But three days passed and no one accepted it. After all, entering a dungeon that needed a party with a better individual and teamwork quality was rare, and no one would accept a mission that didn’t benefit them much. Therefore, the father could only cry straight for three days and nights. Thankfully, Isaac accepted it and ventured inside the dungeon. However, the result was he couldn’t kill the boss alone, nor rescued the daughter of the child.

However, he found an object which belonged to the child and gave it to the father. The latter couldn’t be more grateful than him and kept thanking Isaac despite failing to save his daughter. The father even kneeled and cry filled with gratitude. The father personally handed the item from the mission reward, and Isaac accepted it. If there would be an option to reject it, Isaac might have done it.

“It should only be supposed a story in the game, yet it made me cry.” Isaac was reminiscing about it. “In the end, the item I received was actually a fragment of a legendary item!

If only the adventurers were aware of the actual value of the item, the dungeon might have been devoured by the greedy adventurers.”

Isaac chuckled lightly at his thought.

“Well, unless the adventurer association also didn’t covet it. Could they receive such a temptation though?”

Isaac wasn’t sure of how the storyline would go, since even the adventurer’s association was also an NPC, and even the president was among them. However, he couldn’t guarantee the adventurer’s association would change the reward to equal value. For instance, gold coins should amount to an equal value to the fragmented legendary item.

While Isaac was reminiscing and murmuring about the past quest he had, which thankfully made him forget the embarrassing moments in history. The goblin finally arrived before the wild boar tusk corpse. Not an hour has passed since the time of its death, so it wasn’t rotted yet, nor the bacteria had gone to its body. Therefore, when the goblins inspected the corpse, it actually became cautious of its surroundings, making sure the predator was already gone.

It heaved a sigh of relief when its senses didn’t heighten up as it listened to the tranquility of the surroundings. It reached out to the corpse and massaged it. It was then it realized there was no blood on its body, causing it to be alarmed. It immediately stood up and ran to report the unusual corpse to its chief.

Meanwhile, Isaac watched the scene unfold as he continued to understand the goblin from his perspective. It was hard for him to adjust to his new vision even though it had been some time since he was having it. After all, he saw the goblin move but understood nothing of it. He could only connect them based on his understanding of them.

In the end, he wasn’t exactly sure, so he decided to ask the system for something.

“System, can you show me what the goblin was feeling at the moment with analysis skills?”

This time he decided to mention the system for he knew it wouldn’t reply if he didn’t.

[The host wanted to evolve the skill, Analysis. Attempting… Failed. The host needed to awaken the mentioned skills. Enhanced thinking, Split consciousness, Clear vision.]

Hearing the demanding skills when he only wanted the system to comply with his wishes, Isaac was dumbfounded. After all, some skills probably needed a requirement that was impossible to meet.

Enhanced thinking? What are the ridiculous requirements to unlock that skill? Split consciousness? can I split it in a half with a sharp object? Clear vision? All I see are shapes and thermal bodies of a living being for god’s sake!

He screamed in his thoughts before deciding to move on as he saw the goblin suddenly run. One of the reasons why he didn’t take a move against the gobbling was because he knew it would eventually come back to its base to call for help. Because the goblin wasn’t enough to carry the cadaver back to their base.

However, why does the goblin was running with great speed? As though its life was depending on how fast he was?

“He’s probably so eager to report such a feast to its boss. It might have been wanting to get a promotion!”

Unbeknownst to him, the goblin was actually running because it wanted to report the information regarding a monster, who completely devoured the beast. If he was aware that his existence would come to light, who knows what reaction would he be having?

While a goblin rushes back to its base, a mosquito had been following him since then. He wasn’t aware because the mosquito made sure that the sound of his flapping wings would never reach the ears of the goblin. He once even wished he was an owl instead.

Thinking of this, his eyes suddenly lit up and decided to talk with the system while never letting his focus be left on the running goblin.

“System, can I have the skills to silent my annoying wings?”

[The host wants to unlock the skill according to his desire. Searching… Found. Extra skill, Silent flap needed to meet the requirements mentioned. Flapped ten times without making a sound.]

For some reason, Isaac couldn’t stop laughing inside at the name of the skills. If only his mouth could be opened, he might be laughing hysterically at any moment. Unknowingly, despite Isaac kept laughing at the skill and talking to the system, his focus never wavered as his distance from the mosquito was still the same.

Ding!

[You have learned the unique skill, Enhanced thinking.]

Isaac was left speechless.
