Chapter 4

Klein took a deep breath to calm his nerves. He did not expect that the beauty who just let him into the house would be met with such confrontation from her family.

" Sorry to interrupt you ma, but I have an invitation card” he said trying to answer Marvin's accusations towards Natalie but Marvin shot a scunful glare that caused him to swallow whatever he had in mind.

“What gave you the mind to open your stinking mouth to speak!? Just you know, I wasn't talking to you.” She then turned to face Natalie who bowed her head biting her lower lips.

“ But he has an invitation from Grandpa. You know what we have to do in such situations right, else…!

“I don't care about the invitation, just make sure this reckless decision of yours doesn't end in chaos, I am warning you now to get rid of this trash!"

Marvin had just finished talking when an elderly woman who was in her 60s walked in on them. She was Grace Quinne, wife of Mr Quinne. She hates it when her grandchildren fight amount themselves even though she is often the course of their fights.

“What the heck is going on here? She shouted. Are you both trying to kill me? Huh? You both are unbelievably. You both hope my blood pressure goes up again right? Grace said pointing at Marvin and Natalie when her eyes accidentally bumped on Klein who sat comfortably on the chair. She stepped back and cleaned her glasses just to be sure her eyes were not making a fool of her.

“Wait, who gave him the permission to trash my living room? Grace screamed walking towards Klein in disbelief.

Grace's scream made Klein uncomfortable, he felt sorry for Natalie because it was quite obvious that Grace and Marvin were going to pure out thier anger on the poor lady. Unfortunately for him, her scream succeeded in bringing another person into the living room.

She was no different from Marvin.

The moment she walked into the living room, she immediately gave Klein a sinister look, that sent shivers down his spine.

“ I remember we made it clear we weren't looking for any extra maid nor a gardener" she said.

Angela was the mother of Marvin. She looked at him for the second time and frowned.

“He looks like a shoe mender, oh it's quite unfortunate we don't repair shoes in this house. Rather, for now, he looks more like trash in this house!” Marvin immediately sneered at Klein then turned to her grandmother to explain how Klein had gotten himself into the house.

“Grandma it was Natalie who let him in, even when the maid tried to get rid of him"

“Mum, Marvin is right, you need to teach her a lesson she won't forget in a hurry, it seems she only gets dumber as days go by, see what she lets into the house.” She said pointing at Klein with a disdainful look. “You should count yourself lucky to have such a brilliant granddaughter like Marvin. She would never do such a thing.”

“Please let the young girl breath, do not pure your anger on her, take a look, I have an invitation card and that's why I am here. I should have been here before now but that's by the way! what matters is I am here now” he said, lifting up the gold card to their faces.

They all wanted to bellow at him but the gold card in his hand made them to hold back their peace at least for a second.

“Well my husband is presently holding a presentation and after that he is going on a business trip. so he can't attend to you.”

The card in his hand was not just an ordinary card so she needed to take a look at it properly in order not to invite her husband's wrath. She gently walked towards him to check the authenticity of the card he was holding.

He confidently handed over the gold card to her. And just as expected she shock her head in disbelief.

“This is real," she muttered under her breath. Then turned to Marvin and instructed. “go upstairs check if your grandfather is done and notify him, that his presence is needed, he needs to clear the atmosphere”

For the first time, Natalie was able to heave a sigh of relief.

“They were all seated comfortably waiting for Quinne's arrival.

“What could be so urgent that made you request my presence in such a manner?"

" Hi hunny, please take a look at that piece of trash over there, do you know him? She asked her husband pointing towards Kleins direction.

“Klein Anderson?” Mr Quinne shouted in disbelief. “Klein you are finally here! What took you so long? I have always waited for this day!”

Everyone in the living room was stunned, the rag and piece of trash they all insulted actually had a relationship with their grandfather.

“Mister Quinne, I am here for you to fulfill your own side of the bargain. Where is the wife you promised me? I accept your offer and I want the wedding to take place in two days”

Kleins statement sounded like thunder in broad daylight. Marvin,Angela and Grace were all shocked. When Grace tried to talk, Mr Quinne raised up his hand signaling for her to remain silent.

“ That's great Klein, it is not a coincidence that your future wife is seated right In Front of you" looking at Marvin, “my granddaughter Marvin, she is the most intelligent and also undoubtedly beautiful, she is for you” Mr Quinne said pointing at Marvin with a beautiful smile.

“No no, grandpa you want to destroy my life by yourself? How could a beautiful me end up marrying someone as pitiful as him? No! I am allergic to poverty grandfather”

Marvin wanted to say more but was quickly hushed by her mum Angela .Though she was not in accordance with her father's decision, she also did not have the capacity to talk back after a decision had been made. That has always been the role guiding the Quinne's family.

In a soft tone she said “dad Marvin is beautiful and brilliant, there is no doubt about that, but when it comes to marriage, we both know she is far from there. Dad, take a look at Natalie I think she is even more prepared for marriage than Marvin is. Looking at her performance with all task given to her, it is always unsuccessful.!

“If you ask me I think she actually let him in on purpose this shows her readiness to get married”

Her intentions were to make her father see reasons why Natalie was the best person to marry the despised Klein instead of Marvin.

Natalie shook her head in the negative but her position in the Quinne's family was bad enough because no matter the project she laid her hands on, it failed.

Marrying a loser like Klein simply means her life was going to remain in a mess for her entire life. She tried to beg her grandfather to see reasons with her but it was too late.

Klein raised his head, looked at mr Quinne and said. “Marvin doesn't suit my personality, I will go for Natalie instead.”

“Sure thing, Natalie suits you and that's because you two are birds of a feather" Grace said. Looking at Mr Quinne,

" What's your final decision? She asked,

You choose Marvin while the person in question prefers Natalie”

Mr Quinne was a man of few words and his word was law. “Natalie get ready because you are getting married in two days"

Marvin and her mum looked at each other and smiled. While Natalie looked at her grandfather with disappointing looks.

"You may be sad for getting married to me now my pretty but trust me I will be the perfect husband everyone will desire to have" Klein muttered to himself.

" So we now have two toys to run our errands and do the chores!. If we get tired of Natalie, her husband takes her place, I think it's time for us to let the maid go” Marvin, Grace and Eva laughed uncontrollably.

“Happy now?" Natalie asked Marvin with weary eyes but was interrupted by his grandfather.

“Grace, prepare a place for him to rest and make sure he is comfortable, he is now a member of this family, see you tomorrow" Mr Quinne left and Marvin walked up to Klein.

"I will make your life miserable, and that begins from today freeloader!” Marvin said and left.
