Chapter 29: "An Honour to Die By My Sword"

When Ezra leaped towards the Boss, the latter also leaped towards him as he swung his broadsword forward. He didn't still draw out his sword from its sheath but the power coming from it was very immense, so immense that the entire room shook violently as if it was about to collapse any moment from now.

Aegis of Dissonance!

Ezra immediately activated one of his Crimson Echelon abilities which was very much good in defense and deflecting attacks. He did this because he wasn't confident enough that he would be able to take the Boss's attack this time. The other time the man hadn't even used all his strength and he had been sent flying backwards. Now that he was holding the sheathed broadsword, attempting to hit him with it his strength would be double the amount it was before.

But then, despite activating the Aegis of Dissonance Ezra didn't still believe he would be able to stop the Boss's attack. This was because he'd once fought another Cultivator in the Realm of Nirvana who had enough strength to break through the Aegis of Dissonance. Hence he decided to apply the Ethereal Step which would help him to escape from the area once the Boss's attack broke through the Aegis of Dissonance. It was never too late to think ahead of time.

As the both of them approached each other, the Boss who would have struck at Ezra suddenly withdrew his broadsword and smirked, "You're smart but not smart at all."

And before Ezra knew what was happening the Boss vanished from his sight, appearing behind him. And without wasting any time, he struck at the barrier which had formed around Ezra, causing it to shatter immediately as shockwaves were sent flying here and there.

Mira...Ezra muttered within himself as he landed on the ground before the shockwaves could reach him. And with his great speed, he moved towards Mira and grabbed her, using his own body to shield her just in time he was hit by the shockwaves.

Explosive sounds rang out through the entire room as shockwaves were sent flying everywhere, destroying everything in the room. In the end, the room itself couldn't hold up and collapsed instantly, creating puffs of dust.

By this time all the residents of the inn had already begun panicking. They all heard the commotion and ran out of their various rooms, gathering in the large hallway to ascertain what was going on. Those who were closest to the room in which Ezra and the Boss were fighting in were not so lucky. The rubbles from the destruction of the room crashed onto them, burying them instantly. It would be a great miracle if they were still alive.

"What's going on?" a fat man rushed towards the innkeeper and asked. "What's with all the explosive sounds?"

"I-I'm not aware of that," the innkeeper said, his voice shaking in fear. "But I think it has to do with the new people who moved in..."

"Which people?" another person asked the innkeeper.

"A young boy and a woman who had moved in just now," the innkeeper said.

"And what has this got to do with the destruction?" the fat man asked, becoming very impatient. He wanted to know what was really going on right now. He had paid a lot of money to stay in this inn and now a very dangerous fight was taking place, something powerful enough to crush everyone in the inn.

"I think the young woman beat up and decapitated all the members of a gang..." the innkeeper said as he looked at the room which had been destroyed in fear. "I think...the Boss of the room is now after them..."

"What?" the fat man clenched his fists. "Just catch them and give them to the Boss! We don't want to partake in any of this destruction! We don't want to be victims!"

The innkeeper immediately wiped a sweat from his forehead as he said, "That's not possible."

"Why?" the fat man asked.

"That young woman is very strong..." the innkeeper said, his heart beating very fast.

The fat man was about to say something when something crashed into the ground before him, causing puffs of dust to rise into the air. Everyone immediately screamed and ran far away from the area. But they didn't run out of the building; they stopped at a distance where they could still see what was happening. Everyone watched as the puffs of dust finally cleared to reveal a figure.

It was Ezra kneeling on the ground with Mira in his arms. His entire clothes had been shredded and blood was coming out of his mouth. His entire body was caked in dust, making him look very weary but then his aura was still powerful. If anything it hadn't gotten weaker at all.

When the fat man saw this his eyes widened as he said, "I thought you said the young woman is stronger...Isn't that her?"

"I-I...I don't know," the innkeeper swallowed a mouthful of saliva. He was now very much afraid because the reality had now dawned on him. It was at this moment he realized that the young boy was actually very much stronger than the woman! And he had been treating him very badly all this while without realizing how strong he was!

I would have died without knowing if that boy had wanted to attack me, the innkeeper thought within himself.

Suddenly Ezra turned to look at the people within the room and said, "Everyone get out of here! It's dangerous—"

He had not finished speaking when he saw the Boss appear from nowhere, throwing a very powerful kick at his face. He immediately moved backward at an insane speed using Ethereal Step, dodging the kick by a meter. But he was still sent flying backward by the gust of wind coming from the Boss's kick.

Ezra was sent crashing into a wall by the impact, blood spurting out of his mouth instantly. But then he made sure to keep Mira safe without allowing her to suffer the impact of the crash.

The Boss soon appeared in front of him, drawing out his broadsword slowly, "I admire your strength but you're nowhere near me..."

Seeing that Ezra wasn't saying anything and was just cuddling Mira, he added, "It is an honor for you to die by my sword!”
