The next day, Adrian released a deep sigh as he ended the call with Felix. His stomach rumbled and realizing he had not eaten anything since morning, he yawned and picked up his office keys.

However, the door opened before him and his secretary walked in with a slight bow. She handed the documents in her hands to him. “Good afternoon sir. This is the report of our merged collaboration with Mr Domenico. Our stock prices has risen by 10% in the last two hours,"

Adrian collected the file, glanced at it for a second before laying it aside on the table. “Good job, Rose.” He patted her on the shoulder and walked towards the door. “I'm out for the day. Cancel all my appointments,”

“Yes Sir,”

He settled into a chair and signalled to a waitress. The middle-aged brunette walked up to him with a menu, but he

It was divorce papers that his wife, Layla had persisted him to sign for a week now.One might think that he should be grateful for an opportunity to finally get out of a toxic marriage where he wasn't receiving any peace of mind. But Adrian felt different. He felt that it was still possible for Layla to change the way she felt towards him.To Layla, their marriage was just a business merger between their families. The cold evening air slapped Adrian's hair back and forth as he walked inside the hall. The place was filled with wealthy people drinking and sharing jokes amongst themselves.Adrian allowed his eyes to wander, taking in the festive mood that dominated the atmosphere. Ryan and Layla had put so much effort in organizing this party, evident from the heavy decorations and the majestic display of expensive dishes and drinks.A surge of air escaped from his mouth as he released a gentle chuckle. Were those two really serious about moving on with their lives after what they did to him?Did they really not care? The only crime he had committed was getting married to Layla. Did he deserve to be nailed to the cross, suffer the most inhumane punishment, and betrayed because of that?“Adrian?! What the fuck, you worthless piece of shit. This had to be a joke.“I'm going to give you two seconds to get yourself down from this stage, you delusional fool. You want to ruin my event, don't you?” Ryan said, but his voice came out weaker than expected.“I won't entertain any insulting words from you, Mr Ryan. He had to sell that Layla's land with immediate effect.Gosh, the frustration was driving him crazy!Just then, the door to the office opened and he jerked to his feet in anticipation. At the sight of Domenico's secretary, he waved a hand and hurried towards her with a forced smile. “Hello, is Mr Javier free for a meeting now? I'd like to see him. I'm glad to have you,” The bank manager said to Paige who smiled sweetly, uttering a thank you in response.“That's exactly how to do business,” Paige muttered as they walked out of the Manager's office. “Did you notice how calm and professional he was? We need more business owners like that in this country,” She looked up at him. “What do you think about appreciating him?”Adrian's brows narrowed. “Appreciating him? What do you mean?”“Maybe we could send in an anonymous tip of hardwork to his account. It'll encourage him to do even more better with his job ethics,”Adrian thought for a while, before he nodded. “That sounds like a nice idea. I'll do that when I get to the office,”“Thank you!” She shrieked, and was about to say another word when

I bet he has no idea what he has gotten himself into,” Adrian said, sarcasm bleeding from his tone. The man scratched his head. “Erhm…the client, he just sent a message saying he was no longer interested in the car,”Adrian chuckled. This had to be the most ridiculous thing he had ever heard today. “And so because he's no longer interested in the car, you want to force the sales on me? How very smart of you. I'm impressed,”“Not only did you insult us, you connived with your sales lady to ridicule and embarrass us, judging us by your low standards. Now instead of a proper apology, you want us to purchase a damaged car? Do we now look rich in your eyes? I thought you said we couldn't afford a $8 Million Bugatti? What changed? You suddenly grew a brain?”The man bit his tongue at the sharp

A feeling of alarm shot through Paige's spine and she winced while looking around, trying to connect the dots on how the nail came to be. Her brother would not be so careless as to let something as dangerous as a nail lying carelessly on an open space, would he?And for fuck's sake, what was a pack of nails doing in his pocket when he wasn't a carpenter?!She raked a hand through her hair as a groan escaped her lips. This had to be a setup by Sophie to put them in trouble. Gosh, she hated this attention and how all eyes were glued on them, scrutinizing them like they were some lab rats.“He looks too proud for my liking. From the moment he got in here and started arguing with the sales lady, I knew he was no good,” A man who had been observing the drama spat. “People like him are empty barrels that makes the loudest noise,”“What a deranged psycho!
