Chapter 17

“At Salvador's' banquet last night, in celebration of Lord Salvador's 76th birthday."

There was a celebration where they celebrated the partnership of Alix group and the underworld at large.

“However, a mysterious person crashed the party with a cask and a ground breaking entrance. He decapitated a guard and was about doing “God knows what", before the military interfered.

The News circulated so fast, and it is now the hottest news in Oakville at the moment.

Now, relevant departments are investigating the incident, trying to figure out who the culprit might be.

As at the moment, there was not much to go on with, though since the man in question was putting on a mask, covering up his true identity.

Danny pretended to be shocked at Kim's discussion, he had his eyes wide open, his eyebrows raised , and his mouth slightly open, as if he was caught off guard.

“I didn't know or heard about this. I went straight to bed after I got home last night."

“The Salvador's are wealthy and part of those running Oakville right? I mean, I heard they own Alix group, a multi-billion dollar business?."

Kim smiled, her eyes sparkling with delight, and her whole demeanor exuding a sense of contentment and cheerfulness.

“That's right, Kim said."

“The Salvador's are a reputable and wealthy family, and of course they do have a direct link with the underground, with their businesses all over the globe."

Alix Group alone, belonging to them, is more powerful than any company you'd imagine and they have plenty of businesses too.”

Kim's face was now tensed, with a tight-lipped expression, her eyes narrowed as she described the Salvador.

Kim looked slightly envious.

“All the women in Oakville want to marry from the Salvador so that they can enjoy an easy life, and by so doing, establish connection with the underworld”

Danny's face brightened up by a genuine, warm smile. His eyes crinkle slightly at the corners, radiating friendliness and Joy.

“Didn't you have a chance yesterday? Divorce me now, and you'll have your chance.”

Kim looked unimpressed. She had her arms crossed, her posture slightly rigid and her lips pressed into a flat line, giving away little emotion, and dissatisfaction..

"Ugh, what does that mean?"

“Coming from a rich family isn't always easy as it looks. Over the past ten years, I've witnessed too much ridicule and disdain for my liking."

“To my own family, I was nothing but a joke. I know fully well who's treating me sincerely and who's not. I don't care about marrying a rich man or a known name. Besides, my husband is rich.”

With that, she grinned, a blissful expression on her face.

Danny squeezes Kim's hand.

She was quite a brilliant and logical woman.

Jefferson said nothing all through the discussion, focusing on the road.

Soon, they reached Jasper and Hector Group's office.

Jasper's and Hector group headquarters was an impressive, six-story glass building.

Danny and Kim exited the car.

Kim stared at the imposing building, with a mixture of panic and anxiety creeping over her.

Over the past few years, she had always remained at home and isolated as much as she could, due to her condition.

She never had thought a day like this would come, where she's exploring the world outside, standing in both feet and looking as beautiful as she was.

It was as if her life was taken away from her since the incident, but she never regretted her actions.

The reason why she always studied so hard at home was to free herself from the proverbial cage and soar higher. Excluding herself from the thoughts of loneliness that reeked all over her.

Standing in front of the glass complex, Kim took out her phone and and immediately dishes dialed her classmates number.

“Hi, I'm in front of the complex. What's my next move from here?"

Exactly about 13 minutes later, a thick looking beautiful woman in thick makeup and a work attire approached them.

At the sight of Kim standing at the entrance, she could not hide her surprise any more.

She had initially heard that Kim recovered her looks. Actually, Kim had even sent her a picture prior to the visit, but she did not believe it.

She was now forced to accept and face the truth now that she saw Kim in the flesh and how beautiful she'd become.

Coming up to them, with her face laced in desperation she asked hesitantly,

“Kim Morris?”

Kim couldn't believe her eyes either. It's been years since they last saw, communication with her was mostly over the phone.

Excitedly, kim grabbed the other woman by the hand and exclaimed happily.

“Martha, it's me! You've really made it to the head of a department in Jasper and Hectors!”

“Indeed you're a pure spirit and hard working."

“Beauty with lots of brains."

“Believe me any man would kill to have you."

“How have you been my dear? It's been a little while."

Martha Shawn was extremely flattered, with giggles all over her face. She laughed out so hard that Kim joined her almost immediately and they hugged each other.

“I'm just trying to make a living, Kim!"

“If you want to meet the chairman as you mentioned, you still need the general manager's permission. Let's go.”

Kim at this point was stunned. She stood rooted to the spot, her face etched in both trepidation and confusion.

When they spoke on the phone yesterday, Martha promised that she had set an appointment already with the chairman, Damian Henderson.

“What do you mean, I must go through the general manager, didn't you say you had that handled already?"

“kim, you must understand that it's not that easy to get an order from Jasper and Hectors group."

“I did all I could within my power, but there's still a catch to continue this process."

Kim sighed in disbelief. She couldn't believe what she was hearing this time, it was unlike what Martha had promised.

“A catch? What the hell are you talking about?”
