Nightmare

All through the ride to his apartment, no one spoke. Ken drove Jane to his home amidst the deafening silence. He wheeled the vehicle to the parking lot where he pulled it to a halt.

"Are you okay?" Jane flung the question at him while he was taking off his seatbelt.

He gave a weak smile. "I'm good."

He hopped down from the vehicle and strode to his left. He wanted to help Jane get out of the car but before he could get to her corner, she had already stepped out.

"It's getting colder by the night!" She remarked with trembling lips.

Ken smiled and wrapped his arm around her. "Well, winter is upon us."

She buried her head in his chest while they traced their way to the entrance. Ken led her to the bedroom and she settled by the edge of his bed. He pulled out a cashmere sweater and wrapped it around her.

"I'll be back." He said and left for the kitchen.
