Chapter 2: Physical Assault

Until the door closed, Alice regained her composure.

She looked at her secretary with a hint of uncertainty and asked, "Do you think I did the right thing by divorcing him like that?"

Ultimately, Ethan hadn't done anything to make her sad.

The secretary, seeing Alice like this, quickly said, "Madam President, this is definitely the right decision in your life!"

She truly felt that someone as lacking as Ethan didn't deserve Alice.

Alice rolled her eyes without saying a word, clearly still saddened by Ethan's departure.

Meanwhile, Ethan made his way to the elevator, his eyes slightly downcast, seeming strangely gloomy. It was truly regrettable; even he didn't feel comfortable about divorcing Alice.

Their marriage ended just like that because of his simplicity.

Perhaps from the beginning, all his choices had been mistakes.

As the elevator opened, Ethan stepped inside.

Almost immediately, his phone rang. It was an unknown number, but Ethan almost instantly recognized it.

John Cartie, the CEO of Phils Consortium, one of the influential conglomerates in Gloria City, on par with the Smith conglomerate.

Ethan knew John and many other powerful people, but for some reason, he never saved their numbers.

Compared to these giants, Alice's company was nothing.

John's voice came in crisply, "I have a favor to ask of you. A friend of mine needs your help. In exchange, my friend has something you need, dragon's blood grass."

Initially, Ethan had intended to decline this request, but when he heard John's next sentence, he paused. He spoke in a low voice, "Fine."

Ethan needed dragon's blood grass to save a servant of his who was very important to him.

After collecting the dragon's blood grass, he only needed six other ingredients to make the medicine.

With this in mind, his mood lifted slightly. However, it was quickly ruined shortly after.

As soon as Ethan left Alice's company, he encountered Alice's mother and her brother. Ethan's expression immediately turned cold.

Seeing Ethan approach, the two rushed up. "What happened? Did you two really get divorced?"

Alice's mother spoke up.

Ethan didn't particularly like these two, but he still maintained basic courtesy.

He spoke in a low voice, "Yes, we did get divorced, but this is between me and Alice. I don't want to say much about it."

Alice's mother and her brother hadn't been living with Alice for a long time; they had a major conflict between them.

Every time they showed up, it was just to demand money.

Upon hearing Ethan's words, Alice's mother immediately frowned and then shouted, "Did you deceive Alice?! That's why she divorced you!"

Ethan frowned, but he didn't feel much anger inside.

He didn't want to argue with these fools; he just wanted to leave.

Alice's mother didn't stop. "Don't pretend to be innocent. I know you have nothing. You felt ashamed to be with Alice, so you went outside to seek excitement, right?! Truly disgusting! Is there anyone more useless than you in this world?!"

Ethan frowned, clenched his fists, but he didn't want to explain. He just walked faster.

"Wait, where are you going?! We haven't finished talking!" Suddenly, someone darted in front of Ethan, clearly Alice's brother.

He looked at Ethan, frowned, and said, "I heard Alice gave you a divorce settlement of 3 million USD, right? Aren't you ashamed to take this money from my sister? You'd better hand over the money right here!"

Ethan frowned, speaking in a low voice, "You can call Alice."

Alice's brother immediately sneered. "You just want Alice to protect you, don't you? Forget it! You'd better hand over the money here, or don't blame me for not being merciful!"

Ethan didn't say a word, just looked at them coldly. Alice's brother frowned, but he moved to search Ethan directly.

Ethan quickly dodged to the side, speaking in a low voice, "I told you I'm not taking money from Alice. If you want money, you can go find her."

Alice's mother scoffed upon hearing this. "Don't lie. With such a large sum of money, can someone like you, with nothing, just let it go?"

Alice's brother gritted his teeth, a little angry. "That's right, do you think we're fools?!"

He then suddenly lunged towards Ethan and swiftly reached into his pocket.

He had been eyeing this for a while, sensing something valuable there.

He pulled out what he had grabbed, which turned out to be a beautiful, translucent red gemstone.

However, its value was uncertain, though it was certainly not cheap!

Ethan's gaze began to turn cold and emotionless, as he spoke in a low voice, "That is a family heirloom. You should return it immediately if you don't want to regret it."

Alice's brother frowned and stepped back, "Don't even think about it." Saying that, he turned away as if to leave.

Ethan immediately stepped forward and grabbed his wrist, his voice icy, "Give it back."

Alice's brother frowned, anger flashing in his eyes, but suddenly he released the gemstone! It fell to the ground and immediately shattered into pieces!

Alice's brother sneered at the sight, "And it breaks, surely not something valuable."

Ethan spoke solemnly, "That was my mother's relic."

Alice's brother immediately mocked, "So, your family could have something valuable. Calling this a relic, it's no different than something bought at the market."

Ethan remained silent strangely.

Alice's brother chuckled, about to say something else, when suddenly a punch landed straight on his face, sending him flying backward.

Not stopping there, Ethan pounced on him, pinning Alice's brother down heavily, relentlessly punching him.

Alice's brother groaned in pain, screaming incessantly.

Seeing this, Alice's mother immediately shouted, "What are you doing?!"

She then rushed over, as if to separate Ethan from her son.

But at that moment, Ethan suddenly turned his head to look at her.

His icy blue eyes were as cold as snow, with a hint of bloodlust in them, overflowing with menace.

Almost with just a glance, Alice's mother froze in place, not daring to move even an inch further.
