A LIE-DETECTING SKILL.

Andrew looked at the quest and saw that he had to spend a billion dollars in a day. It was more than he could ever imagine.

He rushed to the hospital and immediately went to see the doctor.

“Excuse me, sir, where would I pay the money?” Andrew asked the doctor.

“You have the money?” The doctor asked in surprise; he didn’t think the young man could accomplish such a feat.

“Yes,” Andrew said one word, and the doctor called in a nurse to direct the young man to the accounting office.

The moment Andrew walked out of the office, the doctor picked up his phone and made a call.

“Hello, Mr. Winter. He has made the payment.”

James shot up from his bed when he heard the doctor’s report.

Andrew paid his mother’s fee?

He had ensured it wouldn’t be possible, so what went wrong?

“Do not do the surgery. Think of some excuse.” James said and disconnected the call.

The doctor looked at his phone. He couldn’t think of an excuse because it could ruin his professional history if anyone found out.

A ring from his phone suddenly alerted him, and he looked at it to see that James had sent him four million dollars.

“Okay then. I’ll do as you say, Mr. Winters.”

The doctor had a broad smile as he stared at the alert.

Andrew had a smile of satisfaction as he paid into the hospital account.

The nurse who followed him wondered what miracle happened to him, but she didn’t pry.

The hospital informed Andrew that the operation would begin the next day, and he would have to come in to sign some documents.

Andrew walked out of the hospital as a cheerful man, but he knew he was far from finished. He needed to show the Winters his new colors.

However, he needed a place to rest his head.

“Time to get myself a house.”

Andrew knew he had limited time. He had not slept for the night, and it was getting late.

Andrew chose a hotel, but he couldn’t settle down there just yet.

He would buy his own house later on.

“Hello, Sir. You are in a five-star hotel, please. I’d like you to take your leave.” The receptionist stiffly smiled as she looked at Andrew. She was trying to figure out what wind had brought this trash in.

“You can’t talk to me like that. You haven’t even asked me if I wanted a room.” Andrew said and furrowed his brow.

This receptionist was rude.

“Leave this building, sir, or I’ll call in the security.” The receptionist said while she picked up a telephone from her desk.

“Where’s your manager?” Andrew said in anger.

It was time for people to give him the respect he deserved.

“He doesn’t have the time for the likes of you.” The receptionist said as the line of the phone connected.

Andrew clenched his fist as he stared at her.

“What is going on here?” A man said, drawing Andrew’s attention along with the receptionist.

“Good morning, Sir. He is a beggar, and I’m asking him to leave the premises because his appearance was repelling to the customers.” The receptionist held her head high, thinking she was doing the right job.

The man turned to Andrew and was about to speak when the so-called beggar interrupted him.

“Are you the manager?” Andrew asked with a raised brow.

Andrew spoke again without waiting for the man’s reply.

“I’d like to buy this hotel.”

Andrew said with a frown. He was more than serious now.

The reception hall immediately went silent. Everyone burst into laughter after hearing Andrew's statement.

“Who did this man think he was?”

“Buying a five-star hotel? What a load of crap.”

The manager was the only one who didn’t laugh. He looked at Andrew’s face and realized there was no sign of playfulness across it.

“I am the manager and owner of this establishment, but I can’t sell my hotel. It’s the only thing left behind by my late wife.” The manager had a solemn tone as he spoke.

Despite being moved, Andrew didn't give up.

“Let me buy eighty percent of the shares. We can help each other.” Andrew said with a smile.

The manager nodded his head before giving out his account number.

“Eighty Percent of the hotel shares would be twenty million dollars.” The man said.

Andrew transferred the money at once, and the manager’s eyes widened.

He had been standing in front of a big shot all along, and this stupid girl he hired would have caused him to miss such an opportunity.

The manager turned to face the girl. “Get out of here. I don't want to see you near this hotel.”

“But Sir,” the girl was about to speak when the manager slapped her across her cheeks.

“I said, get out. You almost ruined my life, dimwit.”

The girl immediately rushed out, holding her cheeks and crying.

She had no one to blame but herself.

The sight in the hall shocked everyone.

“What just happened?”

“Who is that man?”

The sudden change of events amazed them.

Andrew yawned, drawing the attention of the manager.

“I’m so sorry for keeping you waiting. You must be tired. Please, follow me.”

The hotel manager took Andrew to the most expensive penthouse in the hotel and gave him the key.

“I hope you enjoy your stay here, sir. My name is Mr. Terry. A bell is in the room; ring it if you need help.” Terry smiled at the money pot standing in his front.

“Thank you. I’ll keep that in mind.” Andrew said absent-mindedly and bounced into his room.

The reason for his haste was that a notification from the system had appeared in front of him.

[Congratulations on starting your first investment plan.]

[You have completed a future quest.]

[Quest reward: Unlocking a new skill.]

[Skill unlocked: Lie detector Grade 1.]

Andrew slowly read the notifications before him, and a question mark appeared on his head.

“What business did I start?”

A monotone voice instantly replied to his question.

[The system regards buying the hotel shares as an investment.]

Andrew nodded in understanding.

The Lie detector was understandable, but what did the system mean by grade 1?

[Grades are used to measure skills. A grade-one lie detector allows you to detect the lies of a mediocre citizen, but the Host cannot see the lies of someone at a higher level.]

“I really can’t believe this is happening.” Andrew had a broad smile as he walked over to his bed.

He was staying in a room designed for kings.

The room’s design was too much to take in, but it was glamorous.

Andrew couldn’t wait to explore all the benefits of his new life, but first, he had to go to sleep.

While Andrew slept, the internet exploded with tweets about a mysterious man who had bought over fifty percent of a luxurious five-star hotel in a single transaction.

“When would you bless me, oh ancestors? I want to spend money without batting an eye.”

Someone lamented on Twitter.

“Shut it. Your ancestors never had that kind of money when they were alive; what makes you think they would now?” Someone else continued the thread.

“Ancestors or not. I want to be as rich as that mysterious hotel buyer.”

Another comment came in immediately.

Andrew was becoming famous overnight.

“Y’all are short-sighted. Just because the man bought a hotel doesn’t prove his wealth. Anybody could buy a hotel.” Critics and haters joined in on the talk.

“Who gave this guy a phone? Show us the hotel you bought.” The supporters of Andrew were unrelenting.

The news spread like wildfire; There was a new top dog in the city.

Andrew woke up the following day to see a message on his phone waiting for him.

It was from his mother’s hospital. They wanted him to come over immediately.

Andrew wasted no time and went into his bathroom.

He came out to see a vast table filled with different breakfast meals, but Andrew knew he couldn’t waste more time.

He took a taxi to the hospital.

Andrew walked into the hospital and straight into the doctor’s office.

“Yes, Doctor, what’s the problem? Why hasn’t the surgery started?” Andrew asked in surprise.

"I'm sorry, but we  can't proceed with your mother's surgery." The doctor said,

"What? Why? I already paid the money." Andrew said in anger.

"We searched and we found no available surgeon willing to perform such a dangerous operation." The doctor's face held a calm look when he spoke.

Andrew was furious, and he was about to say something when a blue panel appeared in front of him.
