"Jordan, what do you think you're saying?" Mark was the first to recover, and immediately, he burst out into a fist of laughter.
The others also burst out laughing looking at Jordan, disdain written all over their faces. "If it were not for your dishonest acts, do you think we would all be here?" Mark sneered as he stopped laughing. "Besides, if it was you in the past who said this, then I would have believed it without a doubt." "Who the hell do you think you are right now?" He continued with a sneer. "You're just a criminal, so you'd better shut the heck up and not interfere in what you're not supposed to." "I...." Jordan wanted to say something, but he felt a soft tug from Zoey and thus didn't say anything again. "Fine, I'll get the contract in three days." Zoey agreed. "I have your divorce papers ready, get ready to sign them in three days." Mark sneered. He firmly believed that there was no way Zoey was going to be able to get the contract, so he was not even thinking about it. "Fine." Zoey gritted her teeth and pulled Jordan out of the banquet hall. ------ "What do you think you were doing back at the banquet?" Zoey glared at Jordan immediately after they stepped into the house. After leaving the banquet, she brought Jordan straight to the house where she lived. After the incident, the Clarkson family considered her a shame and took everything from her. The only thing they didn't take was her job and this was because they felt that she was useful and would help them secure more contracts. Her pay had been cut and she was barely given enough to sustain her. "What do you mean by that?" Jordan asked as he looked around the house in confusion. He had a lot of questions he wanted to ask, but he felt there was no need to ask. He was going to know after he did some investigation. "What you said at the banquet. Do you think I have a chance at getting the contract?" Zoey sighed, rolling her eyes at Jordan as she managed to fight back her tears. Jordan was someone who was just a victim of injustice and she knew about it. Besides, he was an excellent man, and she believed that if he was given the time, he was going to rise once again. Also, he was the first man she loved and most probably the last, so she was unwilling to get divorced. "Don't you believe that you could get the contract?" Jordan's voice softened as he looked at Zoey. He could read the emotions in her eyes and thus knew how she felt, so he felt rather sad. "You're intelligent, and I believe that if you put in more work, you'll be able to get the contract." He continued, his voice growing softer with each second. "Stop trying to praise me and tell me why you were so confident?" Zoey sneered, trying to hide the smile on her face. Back at the banquet, she could feel that Jordan was extremely confident and she had felt that aura from him five years ago, so she felt that he had a means. "Alright, to tell you the truth, I've not been in prison all this while." Jordan sighed. Zoey's eyes opened wide in shock hearing what Jordan said and she didn't know what to say. "After a month of getting to prison, we were taken away by the army to serve as soldiers depending on the number of years we had to spend on the battlefield." Jordan continued. "So while on the battlefield when we went on a rescue mission, I was able to rescue the son of the owner of Skyline Technologies, whose father then came to see me and promised to help me anytime I needed help." Jordan continued.. Though his words were a lie, it was not entirely that. The first half was the truth. And the last half was the truth. He had indeed saved the son of the owner of Skyline Technologies, and the other party was willing to offer up the company, but Jordan was not willing and just turned it down. After all, he too was not a poor man and, over the years, had amassed quite a number of wealth which he couldn't count. Also, he felt that the company was too small, and the owner had a whole lot of other companies, so he was not interested in taking over just a minor company. Zoey's eyes widened in shock as she looked at Jordan. She couldn't believe her ears. "After five years, we were allowed to return back and now I'm retired. I'll just have to look for a job." Jordan didn't allow Zoey's thoughts to wander and continued. "So I'll give him a call, and I'm sure that as long as your proposal is good, they would be willing to give you a contract; after all, what they need is talent." "But aren't you supposed to use that favor to get yourself back and bounce back to what you were before.." Stuttered Zoey not knowing what to say. "You think too much wifey. I'm giving up this favor for you cause I know you can do it. Also, you don't want to divorce me, right?" Jordan continued, a smirk curled up on his face. "Yes...." Zoey nodded, her heart beating heavily as she couldn't believe that Jordan was going to do so much for her. "Then you should just trust your instincts and prepare for the contract. Take it tomorrow, and I'm sure they'll be willing to review it." Jordan continued. "Yes..." Zoey nodded. "Then you should waste no time and go and prepare for the contract so you can take it tomorrow; after all, we don't know how long it would take them to review it." Jordan smiled. Zoey nodded and immediately turned around walking into the room to do as Jordan had said. Jordan had a smile on his face as he watched Zoey walk away. He had already come back and he was not going to allow anyone to bully his wife or take her away from him.(The Next Day) "Are you sure I'll be able to get the contract?" Zoey looked at Jordan skeptically. "You don't have to worry, dear wifey. I called the owner of Skyline Technologies last night, and he promised to take a look into your proposal and that if it's good, he'll give you a contract." Jordan smiled, reassuring his wife. "Okay." Zoey nodded, still not feeling comfortable. "Or do you want a good luck kiss?" Jordan chuckled, moving closer to her. "No, don't touch me." Zoey giggled and ran out of the house. "By the way, I'll be going out to look for a job." Jordan smiled as he said, looking at Zoey, who was preparing to go. "How about you take some rest first? You just came back, and I don't think any company would be willing to employ you." Zoey said, worry written all over her face. "You don't have to worry about matters like that, it's insignificant." Jordan smiled. "Besides, it'll be enough if I could just land the role of a security guard, so it shouldn't be too hard.
"What are you both doing here?" Mark jeered, seeing Jordan and Zoey walk into the Villa. "Did you give up so soon and want a divorce?" He continued in a mocking voice. "That would be a good thing anyway, so just come and sign the papers I have already prepared it." He then proceeded to pull out some papers like he had known that Zoey was going to come. "Sign here Zoey." Mark continued, his voice sounding rather enthusiastic as if he had just won a bet. "Hurry up and sign it so that you will be able to get yourself free of this filth." "Let me tell you, I've already asked around, there's no way any company would be willing to accept someone like him, he's nothing more than a rapist." Zoey just glanced at Mark and didn't say anything. She was more afraid that Jordan wouldn't be able to stand it. Glancing at Jordan, she saw that his expression was calm, and he didn't seem to have noticed Mark, who was spewing nonsense. This made her sigh in relief. After getting to the company th
"Mother, this calls for a Celebration." Mark grinned as he couldn't believe his eyes while going through the papers. Mabel nodded in agreement, she too was not expecting Zoey to be able to secure a contract and was surprised. "I bet it must be some kind of dumb luck." Mark grinned and stood up. He was ready to go and show off the contract. Now, the Clarkson family was going to become invincible; they were directly affiliated with a first-tier company, and this was a huge boost. As long as they maintained the contract, even a first-tier family wouldn't be willing to offend them; after all, Skyline Technologies was one of the most powerful companies in the whole of North Hampton. "Excuse me, may I come in." A deep male voice came just as Mark was about to leave. "Yes come in," Mark yelled, not caring about who might be at the door. He was very happy and thus wouldn't give a damn at the moment. The next moment, a tall lanky figure walked into the sitting room holding a briefcase w
"That bitch!" Mark cursed immediately as Benson walked out of the house. "I should have known that something was wrong, there's no way she would have the guts to go to the company if she was not in a relationship with that man." He continued. Mabel nodded and didn't say anything. She, too, also felt this way. But what happened had already happened, and there was no way around it; all they could do was to make sure that Zoey came back to sign the contract. She couldn't think of going back to call the other party and was extremely disgusted with the thought, but there was nothing she was going to be able to do about it. They couldn't afford to pay the price for breaching the contract and thus could only do what the other party wanted. "Hurry up and call Zoey," Mabel commanded. They were going to have no other choice now that Benson had said that she had to be the one who was going to sign the contract. Mark nodded and brought out his phone to call Zoey. Dialing her number, it ran
"Didn't I tell you that they'll be here soon?" Jordan looked at Zoey, a smile crept onto his face."But..."Zoey stuttered not knowing what to say. Though she didn't know why her uncle was angry, at least Jordan was right, he had come back, but what was she going to do?"Bang!"Another loud hit came from the door followed by Mark's angry roar."Zoey, I know you're in there; how dare you ignore me; get the heck out right now!"Jordan narrowed his brows and walked towards the door. He already knew what Mark wanted, but if they couldn't come and ask nicely, then there was no way he was going to allow Zoey to sign the contract."What the heck do you think you're doing?" Jordan growled immediately as he opened the door."Are you trying to pull down the door, or what the heck is wrong with that pea-sized brain of yours?""You..." Mark gritted his teeth pointing at Jordan as he descended into a rage."I didn't come here for you. Get the heck out of my way." He calmed down a bit, glared at J
(The Next Day)"Jordan, I've prepared some documents; I will go look for a job today," Zoey said, looking at Jordan who was still all relaxed on the sofa."Why do you have to look for a Job?" Jordan narrowed his eyes looking at Zoey.Though he knew that her family had taken away the company from her after the incident five years ago, he planned to help her get it back, so there was no way he was going to let her work."I don't have a job and you don't have a job. Do you want us to starve to death?" Zoey rolled her eyes at Jordan walking towards the doorShe had already thought about it the night before and had already decided that she was going to get a job. After she needed to support Jordan. Though she knew that he must have started to plan how he was going to rise once again, she knew she had to support him.She believed that since he had done it once, he would be able to do it again. Also, she was feeling a little bit guilty.Jordan sighed looking at Zoey. At first, he wanted to s
"Grandmother, I've signed it." Zoey broke the silence, calling Mabel's attention to herself. She was still a little bit shocked, though the shock didn't prevent her from signing the contract."Since you've signed it, I would take the contract to Skylines Technologies to finalize everything." Mabel offered, taking the contract from the table and standing up."But...""You don't have to worry, I'll represent you this time around." Mabel shook her head interrupting Zoey."Also, it's just past eight; I suggest you resume to the company and start working on the product you signed the contract for; I'm afraid Skyline Technologies would have zero patience to get their products," Mabel said."Yes grandmother, I'll go to the company today." Zoey agreed and stood up.After all, she was ready to go out, so there was no need for her to change. Also, just as her grandmother had said, they had to start with the production of the product right away. The company was a technological company, and they
"Mia, how have you been?" Jordan asked, his voice calm.Mia happened not to be on the battlefield when he was leaving, so he didn't mind the way she was talking.Besides, he was not too strict and they all knew that as long as they followed his rules, there was not going to be a problem."Mia, I need you to come to North Hampton." Jordan went directly to the point, not willing to waste any more time."Yes sir!" Mia answered, not daring to refute Jordan."I'll be giving you a month to round up everything and pass your tasks to someone else, as you'll be staying in North Hampton for quite a while." Jordan continued."Yes, master." Mia didn't say anything and just directly agreed with what Jordan had said.Jordan's authority in the army was absolute, and as long as he issued an order, it was to be followed; otherwise, the person was going to face the consequences. But it was rare for Jordan to give orders, so whenever he did, it was to be followed rather strictly."But master, what am I
