Chapter 4: The East (2)

Taking a rag that was lying around, I put my hand into the statue's mouth, took the hand that was inside, and adjusted the red liquid so that it wouldn't spill out.

"I didn't expect the pranks of my two younger siblings to be so clever."

Yes, it was Roni. He was always curious about everything and made references to children's horror stories become real. Myru knew because he had seen Roni several times carrying a fake hand that he had made from a twig. If you were a scared person, you would have thought it was a skeleton hand.

My brother is a genius.

Myru then took his brother's magic wood and put it away. He stopped for a moment when he heard a strange sound from the direction of the trees, his eyes kept searching but found nothing. I finally turned around and almost jumped in surprise when I heard the shadows in the distance watching him.

Since when was that old man there?!

Myru narrowed his eyes at his servant."Didn't I tell you to rest?" "There's no way I'm letting the young master walk alone."

Creepy guy.

Forget that, he still had to read a few more books. Today's dinner I'm supposed to go out to eat with the rest of the family.

"Young master, please come along."

I glanced at Ben who was already ready with some other servants.

"Ah, that is such a hassle."

Myru looked annoyed at several servants who were ready to help her at any time. Even though he has turned it down many times but always every time the servants come even though Myru has driven them away several times.

"Ben, you help me prepare. Can you do it?"

Ben nodded and smiled while looking down "Of course, Young Master."

The Velreidom family gathered together once again in the dining room. Roni and Somi were busy joking around as they stuffed their food into their mouths, occasionally laughing and sharing their side dishes. Meanwhile, the Marquess's face looked more serious than he usually looked, very different from the usual because he was the one who often talked at the dining table. Noticing this quiet dining atmosphere, I opened my mouth.

"Marquess, I mean Father."

Marquess stopped eating and looked at me. His neatly styled pink hair and clean face made him look like a decent person, even though it could be seen from the area of his arm that was slightly dirty with ink that he was a hardworking person.

"I'd like to ask for some extra pocket money."

"What for?"

"Why? I'm sure you've both been quiet since the first time you were punished, can't you?" I said again. Roni and Somi now stopped their conversation and looked back and forth between me and Marquess.

"Yes, that's why. You're being suspicious. What do you want to do with the cash?"

Of course he wanted to keep it!

Knowing how much amount of money the Marquess had given him each month from Ben made Myru excited. At least, with that much money if it turned out that his plan failed to save Velreidom territory, he could still enjoy life for at least a few years comfortably.

"I just want to. I've refrained from doing anything, shouldn't I get something for my hard work?"

"That's your punishment, you shouldn't be paid for doing that thing you did."

Myru scoffed before finally going back to eating. The Marquess who saw that only sighed and exchanged glances with his wife.

"Instead of that, prepare yourself for another day. We're going to the duchy."

"I'm not coming,"

"There will be a festival there."

"I'm still under sentence."

"No, you need to come together with your younger siblings. Take care of them because your brother is currently away." Myru opened her mouth. "I'm not close to them."

"Prepare yourself, you will come whether you want to or not. How long will Myru refuse like that? At least come with us this time. We rarely go out together."

This conversation did not attract his attention at all, Myru stared at the small meatball on the plate and chewed it slowly lazy to answer.

"Duke Echandis has already forgiven you ages ago, you shouldn't hesitate to come there and enjoy the festival again." said the Marquess with surety.

Gosh, what exactly did the damn owner of the original body of this body do that he had trouble with the Duke of the East? Unbelievable. And yet why would the Marquess want him, this notorious troublemaker's son to come along?

"You should go back to see the star festival. Just this time try to come and rest, your punishment will be lifted immediately if you go."

But did the Marquess say star festival?!

My memory went back to the third volume of the novel Journey to Defeat the Demon King. I found it in the library unlike the others and quickly read it.

Volume Three, concerning the Secrets of the World.

There will be a magic stone that can grant all kinds of wishes, it is said that you can interact with the god of the book. If it was a fantasy novel, there was a good chance that what he said was true.

And the stone must be real.

The truth was only discovered when Colim came to the East. He saw a strange light in the sky that was different from the usual light and followed it.

On the way, he got lost in the forest and started to find a path near the border. The place is very dark, and the only illumination is thousands of lights from the sky in the form of lanterns flown by the surrounding community.

From there, Colim meets the figure of the stone snag and learns some of the secrets of the novel's world.

"It's been a while since I've seen you make any trouble, come with all of us to the duchy. I'll give you extra money if you agree."

The look on Marquez's face was strained when Myru didn't say anything more and just played with his food.

Myru's fork stalled.

He needed that stone. Who knows if it knew how to solve this world, or how to die in peace, or why he was reincarnated into this world?

At the very least, he needs someone to take the blame. How evil were those damn gods who transferred Arditian to a place that would soon be destroyed in the first chapter?

" I'll give you double the ration money!"

That remark made the twins noisy and they furtively calculated the amount. Meanwhile, his wife-Marquise looked worriedly at Myru.

"You have to come this time or else-"

"Alright."

Myru who had just been thinking for a long time looked shocked at the Marquess and Marquise who were staring at her with wide smiles, at Myru's answer. Wait, why are they like that?

"You don't have to worry about money, you'll be given plenty. 'Is that so? Thank you."

For a moment, Myru had been busy thinking about the storyline in 'Journey to Defeat the Demon King' to the point where she didn't know what other conversations they had. But wow, she got money just like that?

Lucky

"Ekhem," the marquess cleared his throat "Don't be late and prepare yourself."

"Yes, Marquess."

Why was he acting like this? His sides stung from the servant's gaze. "Ben, why are you smiling?" 'Stop it!' I cant concentrate anymore because of her gaze.

"I'm always smiling, Young Master," replied Ben with narrowed eyes as he poured the white teapot into the cup.

"Tea mixed with milk for a good night's sleep." I took the cup and noticed the murky brownish color inside.

Myru was uncomfortable with Ben's behavior. I knew he was always smiling like a friendly old man. But... for some reason this time his smile felt uncomfortable.

'It's always a comfortable sleep every day, thank you so please leave and don't smile at me anymore.'

Myru sipped the tea awkwardly.

"Why did Young Master decide to go to the duchy?"

"So what?"

"Nothing just, you usually avoid going to the duchy every year. Your face always becomes grim whenever the Marquess invites you there."

Oh, that...
