Damien didn’t get any reply from the princess at all. He stayed up late into the night, checking his phone from time to time in case any message had been sent to him. Nothing at all.The following morning, he dressed up for school early and waited downstairs for her. She was a no-show till he left for school so that he wouldn’t be late. The school was abuzz with two news that day. One was the news about the boys that were beaten up the day before. They were addressed at the convergence hall that morning by the principal who talked about the dangers of extreme games.“Though all of them seemed to have developed a kind of amnesia; I am sure that they must have fought each other or engaged in some kind of unsupported games.” The principal stated as she paused and looked at everyone around as if she could suddenly get the answer to the puzzle from their expressions. Then she continued. “How that resulted in all of them getting injured at the same time is beyond me but then it is what it i
Damien realised that Isabella was heading to the female rest room and he hung back in the hallway while hoping that no teacher would come along to hassle him for even being anywhere near the female restroom. He thought of the fact that he had not seen any of Isabella’s maids or guards that morning. They had not been in class with her and he couldn’t see any of them in the hallways too. “Did she come to school without her entourage?” he thought in disbelief. He had never seen her go anywhere without them before and he doubted that King Saldus will let her go anywhere without anyone with her. But that seemed to be the case that morning since none of them was around. Damien was tempted to check out the parking lot to see if they were with the driver or if the driver was there as well. She couldn’t possibly come to school without even the driver too, right? Damien wasn't sure of anything at the moment. He could have confidently said earlier that she wouldn’t go anywhere with her entour
The basketball regional competition was a great success. Maryland High won with a margin of 15 points between them and the runner-up, Avery College. One of the highlights of the game was that; Jax Meyers, renowned basketball player, Maryland High Alumni and one of the reasons why Damien was even allowed on the team in the first place despite the protest from everyone else, was the youngest judge on the panel and the only college student is given that honour. Everyone who knew about Jax Meyers's prowess on the court began to view Damien in a different light when Jax went to where they were getting ready before the game started. Damien was surprised when he saw Jax and the latter hugged him before advising him to do his best out there and not let anxiety affect his performance. Some of the student’s mouths were wide open when they saw the man, who was a celebrity in his own right to high school students, talking to an unknown guy that they have never seen in any game. Most of them were
Damien was elated and pumped with energy after the game and all the celebration, he couldn’t believe that he had been able to play as well as he did. He was glad that his school won. He was happier about the fact that he was on the team when they did. He had heard that the last two competitions had not been that favourable for Maryland High. they had been runner-ups for two years consecutively. Which was as long as Jax Meyers had left the school. Jax Meyers's team were the last that got any championship cup for the school. Damien was so happy about the fact that he was one of the teams that brought back Maryland High’s once unbeatable record. He was proud of the fact that he made Jax Meyers happy too. The Alumni ran to the field after the winner and runner-ups were announced and gave Damien a tight hug to the cheer of everyone around. That gesture brought more attention to Damien too as many people in the stands wanted to know who the lad was. Damien had no idea that the camera had
Damien felt like an outsider in his own body. Like a spectator watching what was happening but he couldn’t stop it. He couldn't stop the urge. He couldn’t stop the rage. He couldn’t stop his hunger! The thought that these two would have run him over and watched him bleed to death was the only paramount thought in his mind. “What…what are you doing? Don’t come closer! I will call the police!” one of the men shouted. His quaking voice was barely audible in the pouring rain. Damien couldn’t even feel the cold as his clothes got plastered to his body in the torrent.his blood was pumping fast and furious. Only one thing on his mind. He had not even realised that he had moved until one of the guys shouted “Don’t come closer! Go away, you freak!” he turned to run. Ah. The guy screamed like a scaredy-cat kid when Damien blocked his path in a split second. Unable to quell or control the inexplicable urge, he grabbed the guy’s neck and jerked his head aside while the latter shivered uncontr
Damien was torn by the conflicting emotions he was feeling. Everything was heightened for him. The scents. The sounds. The unmistakable thumping of that rhythm was always so melodious to any vampire. The hypnotic sounds of thumping hearts, pumping the undeniable life liquid through the supple and squishy, biteable human body. The pull was so undeniable and the temptation so strong that Damien could feel his head bursting from it. The hunger was so strong and painful that he almost screamed out in frustration. He had almost caved when a maid entered his room in the morning. The maid must have thought that he had gone to school and she was startled when she found him standing on the other side of the door with a strange look in his eyes. “Goo…good morning, sir,” she said with a startled expression. It took a mental reminder and a strong will for Damien to take his eyes off the visible vein in her neck. The sound of her beating heart was so loud in his ears. Her momentary fear was like
The aversion of his eyes when she entered was the first thing that clued Isabella into the fact that something was wrong. Second was the fact that he was across the room even when he moved deeper into the room, he subtly moved in a way that he was farther away from her than he had been when she entered. Something about how he had been able to get that far away from the door after opening was still a mystery to her but she let that go as everything in her was pointing at the fact that something was not right.“What is wrong?” she asked as she picked a seaman figurine that had been on the side table in the living room of Damien’s chambers for as long as she could remember. She couldn’t remember if it was a guest that had dropped it because it wasn’t a thing that her father or mother would have deliberately got. She peered at it intently as she wondered why she was suddenly so interested in knowing something as inconsequential as that. “Or you are merely stalling because you could feel
Damien just couldn’t. He couldn’t stay there without doing something he wouldn’t regret later. Her beautiful, swan-like neck and trusting eyes were too much for him. So he ran. He hadn’t gone down the first rung of the staircase though before he realised his mistake. A maid that was coming up the staircase almost had an apoplectic fit as she saw him. Her eyes widened as she stammered and looked down at his body before quickly taking her eyes away again.“Sir”Damien, who was already on his last thread of patience, snapped at her. “What are you looking at, you idiot?”“I am sorry, sir,” the maid said in a rush as she looked into his eyes and blanched. She went on her knees. Her stammer became more prominent as she said “I am so sorry sir but the king. He wouldn’t…your dressing, sir” she said after several tries. She gestured at his body without looking up.Damien tore his gaze away from her outstretched hands, long enough to look down at his body and he swore loud and long. Oh, he had
