chapter 2

Smith ran his hands through his head which was all over the place once again. His heart racing at this moment.

The thought of his sister dying fell into his mind but he quickly pushed it away from his head.

"I can't let that creep into my mind. There has to be a way." Smith muttered to himself.

Smith drew a deep breath. He could not go to the bank because he was already owed a large amount of money. There was only one place that he could go to at the moment.

His heart raced, pulling off from the spot. Smith was already at the mansion of the Hera's family business group.

He knew how it was whenever he came here but he had to do this for his sister. His hands slide through the door.

Mr. Alfred, his grandfather, sat on the chair with a broad smile on his face with a group of people walking forward towards him.

"Mr. Alfred! I got you wine that was made from the finest brew in Italy and it's with over five hundred dollars, please accept this as my little present." A man dressed in a business suit handed over the wine to him.

"Grandfather, this portrait was made by a German sculptor in the 16th century and is worth a million dollars currently." Another man said.

"Grandpa. I got you a business suit. Don't be angry at your granddaughter for getting you a simple gift worth only a few hundred dollars." She posed the baby voice and face enough to sweep any human that was alive off their feet.

"Of course, I don't blame you. I blame that pathetic piece of metal junk that you call a husband."

"It would have been an even better gift if you just divorced him and got married to someone else." He said with a smile.

Smith watched just at the door, their words crafting daggers that ran straight right through his heart.

"How could she do this." He groaned in pain, his hands were clenched to control the forceful emotion that was then jerking off in him.

Jessica pulled and stood right beside Mr. Alfred with a warm smile on her face.

Gift flooded and Mr. Alfred was all beaming with smiles. That was until Smith came forward with his voice that was enough to spike disdain.

"Grandpa." He said and the music in the room followed with an instant stop.

Everyone turned to him with disdain and irritation laced all over their faces. And murmurs that were directed as daggers towards him.

And finally, Mr. Alfred spoke up. His voice was filled with so much irritation.

"What are you doing here Smith? I thought I told you never to come here again?" He thundered.

"Well you can stay a few hours, it's my birthday after all and you know what, I am feeling generous." he glared at him.

"I won't be long Grandpa. I wanted to ask you to borrow some amount of money. I need it for my sister's hospital bill. She needs it for surgery and."

"Spare me the crap, Smith. How dare you." He glared.

Everyone's brows were furrowed and their irritation for him reached its peak at this moment.

"I wonder how someone can become this pathetic. Asking for money at someone's birthday party? And he didn't even bring a gift." Dave, the first Son-in-law of the family said.

"He must be crazy. I always knew that the brain was made of bricks."

"And Jessica is so beautiful. Sometimes, I wonder how he even ended up with such a pathetic loser." Another said.

Smith's ears were already running over with their insults. His hands were clenched and the anger was already creeping through his body.

He looked at Jessica who stared back at him, creating a non-channelant mole on her face.

"I am regretting it already, I let love clouded my heart, now I am in my right sense", Jessica softly told her grandpa.

"Do we have a problem?" She deliberately flashed her bag right before his eyes and his skin burned with rage.

He could not believe what evil and scheming woman he had gotten married to.

"Jessica, for three years, I have listened to you, tried hard to be a good husband, and do whatever you want. But this time, this is my sister that we are talking about here. I don't have to remind you what happened to my parents. I want my money back Jessica, and right now." Smith blotted out. Still controlling his rage in the process.

"Your money? Are you daydreaming? I have already collected my supposed money to get this" She flaunted it.

"My sister is dying… you should help me convince Grandpa to lend me the money, or you pay my money, I can't watch my sister die!".

Everyone burst into laughter.

Jessica chuckled, "Where will I get that?".

"Jessica, I don't care what happens or how you do it. Borrow from your company or whatever but I am getting money."

"Keep dreaming."

More insults poured on him from his in-laws. Most of them could not stand his presence there anymore.

"Shit!" He heard a voice from behind that thrilled off so much authority.

"I'm not going to allow you to cause trouble here shit. And never come back here." Mr. Alfred glared.

He gestured to the guards and Smith was thrown away from the place no matter how hard he tried to struggle.

"Hey bitch. You know that I am better off to be with that beautiful young lady of yours than you, so don't ever try coming here again or I am going to crush your bones. Take that as advice instead of a threat." Even the guard was bold enough to insult him before finally blotting off the door with a smirk on his face.

Smith brushed himself off from the floor. His emotions gradually drain off. And the hot stream of emotions now concentrated in his eyes but he could control it.

Now out of options, there was only one place that he could head to at the moment.

He stepped into the hospital with a deep sigh and walked into her ward. He wanted to open the door silently and close it back.

"Brother Smith. Is that you?" A slight cough came from the bed that made his heart fluster at the moment.

"Yeah! It's me." Smith only tried to stay strong for her sake. But on the inside, he was bleeding. He sat on the chair, calm.

"You don't have to act this way. I heard what the doctor said. There is no way that we would get such money and Auntie Jessica is never going to help."

That was a mighty sting for him.

"But don't worry. I'm going to be fine. In heaven when I die. In peace." Her words were in ruins and shattered as she spoke.

A sad smile formed on her pale face and a strand of tears escaped.

"I will miss you. But don't spend all the days of your life crying about how you were able to save me. You have to be strong." She said, trying to smile, visibly in pain.

He touched her face with cloudy eyes. He had to be strong. "Don't say those words, Ella, I will save you! No matter what I have to do. I will give out one of my kidneys." He swallowed the rest of the words in his stomach.

He had already decided that he was going to give out his kidney and get the money for her treatment. That was the only option that was available to him at the moment.

"Brother__".

He stood up, ready to walk away and get it over with when a screen flashes right before him.
