DELIBERATIONS
Cade looked at the cheque again. He could not believe his eyes. But the cheque had not been cashed either, and that was why the slip was still here. Cade went through the file again, hoping to find something else that would make him understand the context of everything, but all he could see were work records. There wasn’t anything else that would be incriminating enough to be considered evidence against Alex. He could not bring himself to look at the work records properly because of how surprised he was to see the cheque. He kept the papers well arranged, and just as Gale had given it to him, and closed the envelope. The cheque had made him more interested in Mr Robert's death than he had initially been. He made a call to Gale.

"Tell his wife that the company would sponsor the investigation of her husband's death. Inform the board, too." Cade said to Gale over the phone. Gale was silent, then he said yes and Cade disconnected the call.
