Part 8

"Has something happened, Young Master?"

The questioning tone from his assistant snapped Xavier out of his reverie.

Xavier's gaze shifted to his loyal subordinate.

He shook his head subtly, indicating that there wasn't a significant issue.

"Apologies, Young Master. Perhaps my previous question sounded too forward. Please forgive me; it was purely my mistake."

Zeyn lowered his head, acknowledging a significant error.

"How many minutes until the event starts?" Xavier asked, looking at his right-hand man.

Zeyn seemed puzzled by Xavier's sudden question, but without much comment, he promptly activated his tablet.

"About 10 minutes, Young Master."

Although the man clearly wore a watch on his wrist, it seemed to serve no purpose for Xavier.

"Please, check the guest list invited by Gio. Send it all to my personal email."

"Very well, Young Master. I'll do it promptly."

After stating what he needed to, Xavier stepped into the five-star hotel hosting the business success party he had invested in with his colleague, Gio.

Honestly, the surprise and unexpected presence were not only felt by Elnora. The astonishment at that moment also struck Xavier.

He never expected his ex-wife to receive an invitation from his business associate.

However, Xavier tried his best to dismiss everything that almost overwhelmed his thoughts.

After all, Xavier had no relationship with that woman anymore. Thoughts of her shouldn't disturb the significance of tonight's event.

Xavier decided to quickly leave the parking area and head straight to the luxurious five-star hotel.

He opted to act as if he didn't recognize Elnora at all. He didn't want thoughts about her to mar the perfection of tonight's important occasion.

Those small pebbles shouldn't almost cling to Xavier's memory.

Meanwhile, from a distance, Elnora appeared to sneer condescendingly. She was confident that the car parked among other luxury vehicles was surely just borrowed by Xavier.

Even though her ex-husband's current appearance was vastly different from what she knew, Elnora was convinced it was all a facade, and the man's illusions held no substance.

"Hmph! I truly regret marrying that deceitful man. Did he think I would immediately regret parting ways with him after seeing all his deceit? He can continue dreaming."

Elnora chuckled, watching her former husband enter, accompanied by another man.

"I wonder how much the poor man paid the servant behind him."

After insulting her ex-husband, Elnora entered the five-star hotel as well, feeling mesmerized by the luxury she had never seen before.

Xavier entered the five-star hotel with a gaze scanning the entire venue.

He was genuinely impressed by everything there. Earlier, his colleague had mentioned they would only have a small celebration.

However, what Xavier saw now was far from a modest party.

Everything looked so luxurious and grand. Xavier was satisfied with the celebration's concept, both in terms of venue and the chosen theme by his colleague.

"Mr. Xavier! You finally arrived. The VIP guest I've been eagerly awaiting since earlier."

Gio approached from Xavier's side, immediately hugging him as a formal gesture.

"No need for that."

Xavier seemed to release himself from Gio's embrace, feeling uneasy. Gio, understanding Xavier's discomfort, displayed his signature grin.

Gio then quickly shifted the conversation to cover up his discomfort with Xavier.

"In a moment, the event will begin. Before I start this event, how do you like the concept I chose, Mr. Xavier? Do you approve?"

Gio asked, stretching his hand to showcase the party he had created.

"It's quite luxurious and not bad at all. You have a knack for selecting concepts."

Gio felt pleased with the praise from his colleague.

"I carefully chose everything with caution because this is the first time I'm meeting you. I want to create a memorable first impression for you, Mr. Xavier."

Xavier nodded, agreeing with his colleague's words.

Soon, as their conversation began to fade, Gio sought permission from Xavier to kick off his event. Of course, Xavier promptly allowed Gio to proceed.

"Check! Check!"

Gio tested the microphone. All the guests now turned their attention toward him.

"Good evening, dear guests. I express my gratitude for your presence. Thank you for taking the time to attend this small celebration I've organized."

Gio thanked his invited guests for coming.

All eyes were now fixed perfectly on Gio.

Xavier observed Gio, but from the corner of his eye, he could sense someone discreetly glancing at him. It was none other than Elnora.

"Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the Almighty for this success. Without divine intervention, I wouldn't have achieved this success. Now, GiVio's business has conquered the international market. I am delighted with the rapid success of a business that has only taken a short time. I also express my gratitude to colleagues who invested in my business."

Gio continued his address and shifted his gaze toward Xavier when his speech concluded.

"I extend my deepest gratitude to Baxier Company for investing a considerable amount. My business wouldn't be anything without Baxier Company's assistance. With all due respect, I invite the owner of Baxier Company, Mr. Xavier, to join me on stage. Let's applaud Mr. Xavier."

All the guests cheered as Xavier ascended the stage steps.

Everyone seemed to murmur, just learning about the owner of the prominent and renowned company. However, amidst the crowd, one person appeared utterly shocked.

As if struck by a massive lightning bolt, Elnora stood there in disbelief at what she heard and saw.

"He... wealthy..."

Elnora couldn't believe seeing Xavier in the spotlight on stage, whispered in her heart, "He... rich?" Her astonishment grew as she witnessed Gio respecting and receiving hearty applause for Xavier.

While Xavier stood on the stage, he tried to maintain his calm appearance, knowing that Elnora was also present at the event. He didn't want this to disturb Gio's crucial moment.

The party concluded perfectly. Gradually, the guests started leaving the five-star hotel, including Xavier.

With confident strides, Xavier walked toward the parked car, followed by his assistant. As he was about to enter the car, a woman stopped him with a hand on her chest, her gaze sharply fixed on Xavier.

"What Mr. Gio said isn't true, is it? How much did you pay Mr. Gio to say that? Did you beg and plead with him?"

Elnora hurled an insult at Xavier, who remained composed despite her disdainful gaze.

"Why? Is that why you came to me? You don't need to know, Elnora. We have no connection anymore. It's better if you enjoy your life before ruin befalls you."

Having said that, Xavier decided to enter the car, leaving Elnora clenching her fists.
