Sean paced around, his brain heating up.

“What do you mean by consequences?!” He turned around suddenly, asking Moriah. “I just told you that I didn't do anything. Amelia and her family probably got it into their head that this would be some sort of punishment for not going through with the wedding.”

Moriah sighed, standing up from her seat. “I believe you and I trust you.” A sneer appeared on her face, her lip curling in annoyance. “Besides, I always knew that Cruz girl was shady.”
