Chapter 009

Vivienne’s brows furrowed at his request, but she said nothing, only nodding in acknowledgment.

As they journeyed down,Vivienne was dazed, staring speechless to see both sides of the streets lined with the residents of Vancovira waving flags and singing Richard's praises; some even had tears in their eyes as they bid them farewell.

The procession continued with people still lining the streets until they got to the helipad that was to return them to the City; as they exited the vehicle, they could still hear the praises of the people trailing behind them while the ten disciples bowed in reverence to Richard.

Vivienne looked dazedly around, her heart churning within as she followed Richard into the helicopter that was to return him to prison.

Back in Dalton City, Cassandra and Harold were back in their home, wine glasses in hands as they toasted and celebrated Richard's downfall as well as the new horizon of Andrew taking over the mayoral position,

“Cheers to a new dispensation, one where Andrew takes over and we become a household name and a force to reckon with!”

Cassandra exclaimed happily as she chimed her glass with Harold's. Harold himself couldn't hide his happiness as he grinned and nodded,

“That's right! We're about to be the talk of the town and handle much more wealth. Now that goody two shoes are out of the way, we can have all we want!”

While speaking, his brows creased and he let out a small sigh,

“Although I must admit, the situation at the restaurant had me worried, but I'm confident that Andrew will take us places”

In response, Cassandra huffed and waved her hand,

"When Andrew finally is mayor, we're going to deal with Nicholas and teach him a lesson. For now, let's bask in the confidence that Andrew is about to take Dalton City to higher grounds and our pockets as well. He's going to do great things for us, I can feel it!”

“After all, Andrew is under our thumb, and once he rises into power, we'll hold much more influence,” Cassandra further boasted, smiling widely, almost tempted to jump on her feet. Sipping on her wine, her eyes widened a bit and she sneered, peering at her father over the rims of the glass, smiling sinisterly at him,

“I wonder how the honorable and useless Richard Day is doing right now in prison!”

Her eyes shone at the thought of the torture Richard was possibly going through, and she grinned while her father chuckled,

"If there's one thing I know, he won't be enjoying that five-star treatment”

They both laughed at his reference, their eyes gleaming with hostility,

"Dad, do you know how many criminals Richard has put away while he was helping you in office? I'm certain those criminals will have a swell time with him, now that he's part of them”

Once again they both laughed at the thought, doubling over as Harold sniggered,

“He cannot escape their revenge, someone like Cain Dane that he put away; that giant will have Richard for his breakfast, lunch, and dinner!”

Their laughter reverberated through the house as their eyes shone, eyes still gleaming with a faraway look in them, Cassandra casually said,

"If only I could be a fly perched on the prison walls, and see how much beating and suffering my darling ex-husband is experiencing currently”

Chuckling lightly to herself, she sipped at her wine and grinned sinisterly at the woes and throes Richard was facing.

Meanwhile, Richard and Vivienne had arrived at the prison.

“I want a room prepared with all the niceties we can afford and more! No stone should be left unturned, stock the room up with every available thing Mayor Richard may need!”

Vivienne, hands on her hips, commanded firmly.

She was trying to do everything in her power to provide him with the most comfortable accommodations possible.

Soon the room was filled with plush furniture, velvety curtains, and a well-carved oak desk. She had even made provisions for beds with imported Ethiopian sheets, velvet bed coverings, and blankets.

The room was fit for a king, and one who entered wouldn't know that it was a prison cell, it had a floor to ceiling bookshelves, filled with different books of all kinds, rare medicinal books, not only that, she had the room adorned with various artworks, crafts, and oil paintings which added an elegance to the room,

Vivian didn't even spare his cleaning area, as she ensured it was stocked with essentials, going as far as adding scented candles and diffusers, as well as perfumes.
