8: MAKE A WISH

"Make a Wish? What is that?" Andrew was confused because the card had a phone number on it and it looked familiar. But he had forgotten how.

(What was this fucking card with me doing? I don't remember what it's for, but I know that whoever answers this number will tell me something!)

It was already dark. And it was difficult for Andrew to stop a person at night. They might think it was a robbery for sure. There was a stranger doing charity with some beggars near the subway.

"The soup is hot. Come and get it while you still have it." the boy who distributed the soups saw Andrew approaching him.

The guy made a jerky move and Andrew backed away because he didn't want to get a random kick.

"Sorry mate. I just want a call."

"What?! Get your soup and get out!" That boy was yelling at Andrew.

Andrew was used to that kind of behaviour. He got out of that boy's eyes as fast as he could.

He started looking for another chance to make the call. He didn't have the money to pay for a call and needed to find a well-lit, open space to make the call.

As he walked through the tunnels of that Subway, the other beggars looked at him irritably. They didn't want him trying to take over their territory. Beggars did not band together to share places with strangers.

Some homeless were selling cigarettes, others were already asleep and still, others were trying to sell rubbish.

"SUFFFFFHHH!" reached one of the city meters that passed through Sterling Square and ended in the city beyond. It was loaded with people.

People exiting the subway did their best to stay away from him.

"I hate beggars because of the smell."

"This guy hasn't showered in a while."

"Who pissed on this folk?" There were many disapproving looks on Andrew and he was used to it. He had always been looked at that way even if he wasn't a beggar before.

A boy who had headphones on playing something on his light-screen phone swayed slightly as he waited for the next subway.

"They...want to...make me f*ck!" The boy was singing loud enough for Andrew to want to hear.

Andrew was approaching and the guy had noticed Andrew's presence. He looked at him as he sang and then took the headphones off.

"Do you need something?"

"Yes. Thanks for asking. I want to make a call. But I don't know if..."

The boy tapped the centre of the phone's screen and held out his hand for Andrew to take and place his call.

"Quickly, my ride home will arrive soon."

Andrew hurriedly picked up the phone and while typing "run and you'll find out which one of us is faster," the boy whispered to him. Even though he was a little far away, paying attention to the metro timer, his voice could be heard very well.

**RIIIINNNGGG!**

"Hello. How are you?" On the other side, a very soft female voice answered.

"Hello. I want to know whose contact this is?"

"Make a wish and we'll tell you. Just don't spend your wish that way."

"I don't know what's going on. Your number was with me and something made me realize I had to call you."

"We understand your confusion. We will give you the opportunity to make any wish of your choice. We will fulfil anything you ask. Just make a wish."

"Everything really? How is that possible?"

"Don't waste your time thinking about it. We know you don't call us from your number and you don't have much time until the next subway."

"AHHH!" Andrew screamed in fright at what he had just heard.

They knew everything about him. Maybe they were there at that moment and he.

The boy after the scream that Andrew gave looked at him with an angry expression. Andrew was taking his time with his phone.

(Shit, I have to make my wish as soon as possible or I'll miss my chance. But what if it's all a lie? Who is this woman?)

"I don't have much time anyway. Look, I don't really know what I want. I never thought about it before. I wish I could have Alice but…" the woman on the other end of the phone interrupted Andrew.

"Then say 'My wish is to be with Alice' and we'll sort it out for you."

"WHAT? Even that you can do. Oh, oh, oh my gosh. OK. OK..."

Andrew realized his time was up and spoke aloud.

"My wish is this..."I WANT THE WORLD! I WANT TO BE THE RICHEST, MOST INFLUENTIAL, AND MOST POWERFUL PERSON IN THE WORLD!" I want this for myself. I want the world."

"Aff! Aff!" Andrew was panting after everything he had said. He almost choked.

The boy approached Andrew and held out his hand asking for the phone back.

"Hello," Andrew with the phone to his ear spoke to whoever was on the other side.

"Your Wish is a command...now."

"That's it?! Nothing else?!"

"Yes."

"But..." Andrew couldn't say any more because the kid got Andrew's phone and kicked him in the legs making him fall backwards.

"PAFF!" Andrew's back was hitting a vending machine that had taken the impact. He was still standing but he was a little dazed. The boy's subway had arrived and he was calmly walking inside the underground transport looking at Andrew still irritated. He would listen to his music on headphones and start the game again on his phone.

(I knew it was a prank. F*ck. How did I not get suspicious right away and fall for such a trick? In addition to being homeless, I'm also starting to lose my sanity. I never expected it to reach this moment in my life)

"Goodbye Cruel World!" Andrew screamed looking at the ceiling of the tunnel with arms raised upwards.

"Vrrrr! Vrrrr!" Next to his left foot, a small orange plastic phone vibrated and just read "MAKE A WISH!" on the screen.

Andrew picked up the phone and answered it.

"Hello!"

"Hello, Sir Andrew. How is going?"
