Chapter twenty-three

Her hands were shaking when she stepped out of the office. They were judging her, she was sure of it. But she couldn't blame them, she judged herself as well.

A hand took hold of her and she leaned in for comfort.

"They are only talking Amanda, they can't hurt you." Jake whispered into her ears and she leaned into the heat that was coming from his rock solid body.

He allowed her to breathe him in while he soothed her. It felt like he was at a beach, breathing in the cold breeze.

Nothing was better than that.

"We need to get going." Amanda said as she pulled away from him. He opened the door for her and she nodded and entered.

She didn't care if Levi was watching her, all she wanted was to get away from there.

Jake got into the car.

"So where do you wanna go?"

"You don't even know where you're going to?"

"What part of, "I'm new to town" did you not understand?" Jake said in a light tone.

"Fine." Amanda laughed. "Let's go to a cafe or something"

"What is that?"
