Chapter 5

Jake rubbed his face roughly. "At this rate, what will happen to our family? Just a few minutes ago, I was happy that we would get a rich son-in-law."

Eri massaged her nape and temples together, then remembered something. "The necklace!

Eri looked at the gift she thought was from Harry. She picked up the jewelry box and hugged it. "Don't let this gift be taken away again."

Jake shook his head. "Take it easy, and I'll block Harry from trying to take it back."

Eri nodded quickly. "Yes, that you must do. This is our most precious family treasure. Don't let him take it. It's already ours."

"He won't, Mom. He won't take it. The gift is not from him." Dustin suddenly commented on his mother-in-law's anxiety.

Eri looked down at Dustin. "You're such a smart ass. You're an arrogant ass. What do you know? Don't be a smartass. Better put your brain to work."

"Who is this gift from if not him? From God? God has abandoned this family since my daughter married you, damn it!" Jake was inflamed. His voice echoed loudly.

Jake helped massage Eri's forehead gently. "Calm down; there must be something else we can do."

Eri leaned against the back of the sofa. "I'm already so happy to have a rich son-in-law like Harry. What will happen to us next?"

"Karina, you better divorce your useless husband immediately. I'm sure all this bad luck our family faces comes from him!" Jake accused Dustin.

"Come on, Dad. Stop it!" Karina complained. "You can't set me up with Harry because I have a husband."

Eri gasped. "Are you crazy? Are you happy to have a useless husband like him? Don't be crazy!"

Karina clucked in annoyance. "Mom and Dad can't just set me up."

"I just remembered. The Thompson family has a single son. He's well-known too. Would you like me to set you up with him? I know them quite well." Eri changed the subject quickly, and she looked at her son after having an epiphany.

Karina clucked. "Mom, stop it." This was so tiring, and she had to face another man who wanted to be set up with her again besides Harry. Her mother didn't learn from experience.

"That guy might also have the same problem as Harry," Dustin commented suddenly. He looked straight at the scene in front of him.

Not pleasing the two people who hated him so much.

"Don't be a smartass!" Eri snapped at Dustin with a clear frown on her face.

"I know." Dustin insisted.

"Never mind. I don't need any comments from that trashy mouth of yours!"

"But this time, Mom should be willing to listen to me because I do know how the Thompson family is." Dustin sounded convincing.

Jake got up and pounded on the table. "Damn it, now you feel better and smarter than us?"

Eri chuckled. "You don't deserve that kind of talk."

Dustin opened his mouth, letting out a long breath. Karina raised her hand, signaling Dustin to leave.

"You're a damn bastard who doesn't know how to judge a person's quality!" Jake mocked Dustin.

Eri rose to her feet with a fierce glare. "No need to make any comments. Just take care of yourself, who has nothing on the Thompson family. Even Harry is way above you!"

"Go away!" Karina was dizzy. She couldn't stand hearing the commotion getting bigger.

"Don't try to defend him, Karina! Whose side are you on, huh?" Karina's attitude inflamed Eri.

Not wanting to listen to the ramblings of his in-laws, Dustin chose to walk out of the house, ignoring the shouts from Eri, who cursed him repeatedly.

"Insolent! The son-in-law doesn't know manners. Uneducated! Useless! I'm still talking to you, damn it!" Eri's blood heated up.

Jake scrunched his waist. "It's unfortunate. He should be grateful we gave her a place to stay. You useless piece of dust. Fucking bum!"

Karina frowned, feeling dizzy as she heard her parents cursing at Dustin, who probably wouldn't listen to what they were saying since he was already outside.

Meanwhile, Dustin walked on the sidewalk. A black sports car pulled up beside him. It was Albert. What a coincidence that he had something to say to the middle-aged man.

"Why did you give my wife's family a necklace?" Dustin asked straight to the point. He had already said he would not return to the Kendrick family.

"It was a gift on your behalf, Young Master. You have yet to give your wife a dowry and other gifts. Is that too small, Sir Dustin?" Albert explained what he was doing. He was being polite to the master he had served in the past. Since childhood, he knew Dustin was polite and could hold himself well.

"No, not that. The gifts are good. They like it. But you must remember, don't tell them about my true identity." Dustin warned.

"One more thing." Dustin sharpened his gaze. "Next time, don't let others think it's a gift from another man. Just make up the sender's name without writing mine."

Albert bowed half of his body. "I'm sorry, sir. I promise I won't make that mistake again."

Dustin nodded. "You may leave." He took another step forward.

"Just a moment, sir."

Albert stood next to Dustin again and reached into his coat pocket. Albert thrust a black card into Dustin's hand.

"Sir Dustin, this is a card for your use. You can use it if you need it to buy a little gift for Miss Karina. The limit is 10 trillion, and it can be used anywhere."

Dustin looked at the card. Albert bowed his head and excused himself from his presence.

Dustin nodded. He agreed to take it, then parted ways with Albert. There was a place that Dustin wanted to go. After the car Albert was driving left, Dustin continued his steps.

Dustin's footsteps finally brought him to an expensive clothing store. Displayed in the window were several sparkling dress suits and semi-night gowns. The fibers of the fabric seemed to be visible in the mirror. The finest weaves and certainly not one that money could buy. His eyes fell on a one-eighth red dress with a modest cleavage. He remembered Karina's beautiful face that night.

Dustin walked into the clothing store. Security and the shop assistants looked at Dustin with contempt. Who was this shabbily dressed man who dared to enter a luxury store like this? That was what was on their minds.

Their eyes were narrowed with the corners of their lips turned up one side. Their gazes traced Dustin's body from the top of his hair to the bottom.

This shop was in danger because of the poor people coming in. The people who came could talk about the standards of this shop that fell.

"Look, who's that crazy guy? He's not even wearing socks." One of the female employees scoffed at Dustin's disheveled appearance.

The salesgirl walked over to Dustin. "You can't buy socks here. You can go to another store with the clothes you need, which is much cheaper than this store."

"I'm not looking for socks or wanting to buy them. I want to buy that red dress in the display case over there!" Dustin pointed his index finger at the red dress.

Dustin looked around and found another dress that looked like it would look good on Karina. It was a nude-colored dress with Swarovski sprinkles around the cleavage area.

The salesgirl grinned and leaned into Dustin's ear. "Can I hear you again?"

Dustin again pointed at the dress he liked. The salesgirl snapped her fingers several times in both of Dustin's ears.

"Hey, wake up, loser! Are you dreaming in broad daylight? Are you drunk? You wouldn't be able to afford all the clothes here even with your low price!" The loud tone of the maid's voice sounded painful to Dustin's ears.

Dustin restrained himself. "Haven't you gone too far with the customers? The customer is the king. You should serve me well."

The salesgirl chuckled. "What? A king? No king is as poor as you!"

Dustin sighed. "You're insulting. Didn't your boss teach you how to serve customers properly?"

The salesman blocked Dustin's body roughly. "Customer? Do you want to buy clothes here?"
