Chapter 4

That night, Maverick and his three friends arrived at the Diamond restaurant dressed in new clothes purchased by Maverick earlier that day.

With a strike of dumb luck Maverick was able to acquire a canceled table on that day.

“Wait sir, may I ask your name?” Asked frontman.

“Maverick. Maverick Douglas.”

“Ah, yes. Sir Maverick. Table number 47. This way, sir.” The frontman was very professional and very discreet as he ushered Maverick and his peers.

Upon entering the dining hall, the luxurious and exclusive atmosphere welcomed their sights. The sparkling chandeliers and glossy marble floors added to the restaurant's opulence.

They made their way to the first floor, where the regular guests sat. The tables were partitioned with high dividers, providing privacy to each diner enjoying their meals.

Before long, the frontman and the other waiter showed their impeccable hospitality by pulling the chair for each of them and poured a sparkling white wine into their glasses once Maverick and his friends sat down and checked the menu.

Maverick was puzzled upon reading the menu which was written in French.

“Would you like a suggestion, sir?” Chimed the head waiter who noticed Maverick’s arrival.

“You know what? I’ll just try everything on the menu. And for the wine pairing, I’ll let the sommelier to give us the finest wine in his collection.”

“S-sir?”

“Yes?” Darius smiled. “Is there something the matters?”

“No sir.” Said the head waiter. “Please kindly wait for your orders.”

Before long, several servers promptly appeared from the kitchen, bringing two cart of dishes.

Meanwhile, on the upper floor of the restaurant, there was a special VIP room divided into three classes: Silver Class, Gold Class, and Diamond Class. These rooms were reserved by the upper class who desired more privacy. Each room was equipped with luxurious furniture and special services.

Maverick and his friends enjoyed the evening at the Diamond restaurant, feeling the special atmosphere of the place.

They laughed and joked, enjoying the delicious food served, and celebrating the rare togetherness they experienced. That night became an unforgettable experience for all of them.

"Giuly, aren't you embarrassed to eat like a caveman?" Jason reprimanded in a whisper, glancing at his friend who was devouring the food as if famished, even though they were in a luxurious restaurant.

Giuly looked up, seemingly mocking. "Why should I be embarrassed, Maverick will pay anyway." Without any slightest guilt, he continued to eat with gusto.

Adrian and Maverick shook their heads, while Jason sighed in annoyance, puzzled by Giuly's behavior, which seemed to disregard table manners.

Maverick tried to calm the situation. "Let it go, don't worry about it. Come on, you eat too!" he said, patting Jason's shoulder, diverting his attention. They continued to enjoy the meal, until there was nothing left.

Giuly patted her stomach, satisfied. "Ah, if only we could eat like this all the time, life would be more exciting," he exclaimed, smiling broadly.

Jason scoffed. "You're excited, we're the ones suffering."

Adrian chuckled. "Hahaha, just understand, Jason. She rarely gets to eat as deliciously as this."

Giuly grumbled annoyed. "Hey, don't insult me. You're all the same!"

Maverick shook his head at his friends' behavior, then intervened. "Enough.. we're here to have fun, okay? Do you want more or should we go somewhere else?"

"Enough, Maverick. You'd better save your money to start a business!" Jason warned, concerned about his friend who kept splurging money.

But Maverick just laughed and patted Jason's shoulder, his face full of enthusiasm. "Don't worry about that, I already said tonight we're going to have fun."

Adrian immediately suggested an idea when Maverick mentioned that. "How about we go to karaoke?"

Hearing Adrian's idea, Maverick's eyes lit up, and he nodded in agreement. "Great idea, let's go!"

When it came time to pay at the restaurant, Maverick effortlessly pulled out $10,000 for the two meal packages they ordered.

The atmosphere suddenly became silent for a moment, then the sound of the system echoed in Maverick's mind,

"Congratulations, you have spent $10,000. You will receive a 200% cashback of $20,000. The money has been sent to your account. Your current balance is $41,000."

A satisfied smile appeared on Maverick's face because instead of decreasing, his money was now continuously increasing.

As they walked towards the restaurant's exit, they noticed two women who seemed panicked trying to pay for their meals. Maverick halted his step as he recognized one of the women.

"Gracia..." he murmured to himself.

"What's wrong, Rick?" Jason asked, seeing Maverick stop and stare at the women.

"You guys wait here for a moment," he said, ignoring Jason's question. Maverick remembered Gracia, his first love before he was dumped by Tania. Maverick approached Gracia, who was arguing with the restaurant server.

With a look of bewilderment, he immediately asked, "Excuse me... what's going on?"

A waiter explained without hesitation, "These two women refuse to pay for their meals, their three friends have already fled, and they want to escape too!"

Gracia defensively raised her voice, "I'm not trying to run away, I just need to withdraw money from the ATM!" She waved her hand, her face turning red.

The waiter sneered, his eyes widened mockingly, "Hah... just admit you want to run away, stop making excuses!"

Maverick interjected, his voice firm and authoritative, "How much is their bill?!"

"They ordered the Silver Class Room, plus several drinks they all ordered, totaling $30,000!" The waiter folded his arms, explaining in detail to Maverick.

Maverick took out his phone and swiftly transferred $30,000.

"Is it done?" he asked sharply, staring at the waiter.

The waiter nodded, his smile awkward, as did the other waiter. "Thank goodness for this kind sir, otherwise you would all end up in jail!"

"The issue is settled, so may we leave?" Maverick looked at them, his hands folded across his chest.

"Oh... please, sir..." Both waiters replied, bowing. Then the system's voice sounded in Maverick's mind.

"Congratulations, you have spent $30,000. You will receive a 200% cashback of $60,000. The money has been sent to your account. Your current balance is $101,000."

Maverick then left Gracia and her friends, who were stunned into silence. It was as if Maverick had become a guardian angel in their time of need.

Adrian embraced Maverick admiringly, "Wow, ever since you had money, you've become more generous, Bro!"

Giuly chimed in, "Yeah, impressive, Maverick!"

Licking his lips, Adrian glanced at Gracia, "By the way, that woman is so beautiful. Her body is... amazing!"

Maverick and Jason could only shake their heads in disbelief, unable to comprehend their friends' behavior. As they were about to step out of the restaurant, Gracia suddenly shouted, "Wait...!"

Maverick and his friends immediately stopped and turned around. Gracia and her friend were right behind them, their faces showing genuine gratitude.

They thanked them simultaneously while slightly bowing. "Thank you for helping us, I promise to return the money."

Maverick responded casually, "No need, consider it payment for covering my meals for a whole week."

Hearing Maverick's words, Gracia was taken aback. Her eyes widened, then she stared intently at the man in front of her, trying to recall the incidents he mentioned.

"Oh my... are you Maverick Douglas?" Gracia covered her mouth in disbelief, her beautiful eyes wide as she gazed at the man in front of her.

"Long time no see, Gracia," Maverick said with a wry smile.

Gracia observed Maverick from head to toe. She briefly reflected on herself within the frame of memories, remembering the past in high school when Maverick was going through tough times—his shabby clothes, meager meals, and his scrawny figure.

But now, the figure in front of her looked very different. Maverick appeared gallant and confident. Moreover, he was now in a luxurious restaurant, indicating that he might have become a successful man.

"Is he really the Maverick I used to know?" Gracia murmured to herself, still mesmerized by Maverick's charm.
