Sara subtly blushed. “Well- Well he is blessed in that department.”

“Shut up you fool, it was a rhetorical question,” Sebastian barked at her.

Sara’s mouth opened in shock at his attitude towards her before she frowned at Ryker as he took his seat beside Samantha.

“Damn you Ryker, you are so despicable, barely a day after I divorce you and you have turned into a gigolo, how pathetic,” she muttered to herself.

“Fiona, get back here! You can’t possibly be attending your own engagement ceremony wearing that!”

The loud shriek of Sophia Bassett caused everyone to turn their attention to the woman who had just climbed up on stage.

Fiona stepped up on the stage, wearing a black lace gown, completely going against the colour theme which was white.

“Fiona get down, you can’t wear this,” Sophia said, glancing around at the awkward stares that were coming their way.

“What is the meaning of this?” Nico’s voice made both women tense up.

“Mister Reyes, I was just trying to—”

“Shut up,” Nico said to Sophia, turning his gaze to Fiona. “If it’s black you want, then wear it, but get that scowl off your face.”

Lloyd had just walked up to the stage too and heard the conversation. He felt relieved that Nico did not take offence to Fiona’s actions.

“Thank you Nico, we are grateful for—-”

“Get the fuck out of my way old man, there’s nothing to be grateful for. Don’t forget our agreement,” Nico cut Lloyd off arrogantly.

He grabbed Fiona’s wrists and pulled her to the centre of the stage, in the view of everyone present but Fiona yanked her hand away from him, holding a deep contempt in her eyes before she took the mic from the host of the ceremony.

“I cannot marry you Nico Reyes because I am already married to another man. I believe it is against the law to marry a woman who is already married,” Fiona announced, sending a ripple of gasps and murmurs through the crowd.

Lloyd and Sophia exchanged shocked glances at Nico frowned, yanking the mic from Fiona’s hand, whispering into her ear. “Are you looking for another beating?

He held the mic to his mouth and announced with a calm smile on his face. “Pardon my fiancé, she likes to joke extremely sometimes.”

“That woman is my wife, she is no fiancée of yours,” Ryker stepped forward, both hands tucked confidently in his pocket, his aura oozing authority.

“What did you say? Fiona is what?” Nico asked in an angered tone, looking condescendingly at Ryker from the stage.

“He’s saying the truth, I have a husband Nico, I cannot marry you,” Fiona announced.

A loud gasp escaped none other than Sophia Bassett, Fiona’s mother, stunned by what she just heard from her daughter.

Cross Reyes, Nico’s uncle sneered at Fiona. “You silly bitch, are you trying to make a public ridicule of my family?”

“Relax uncle, I’m sure this is a joke, the Bassetts cannot be so foolish as to ridicule us when they know the price to pay.”

“What is the meaning of this Lloyd? Get your daughter under control!” David Reyes barked at Fiona’s father.

A lower tier family like the Bassetts cancelling an engagement to their upper tier family was a slap to their face and their prestige.

There’s no way he could have that and if the engagement is cancelled, then their plans to usurp Atlas Technologies, the Bassets Company, would also fail.

Lloyd Basset eyed Fiona with contempt.

“What is this madness Fiona? How can you be married and no one in the family is aware of it?” He barked at her.

“Fiona, where did you get this tramp?” Sophia Bassett, her mother, questioned angrily before she bowed deeply to David.

“I assure you Mister Reyes, this is all a huge misunderstanding, please forgive my daughter’s insolence,” she said with an awkward smile.

“It is not a misunderstanding mother, Ryker is my husband, we are legally married,” Fiona replied sternly.

“How dare you?” Lloyd Bassett stormed towards Fiona, raising his hands to slap her but in a flash, Ryker was in front of her, blocking his hand.

“It is not polite to hit a woman in front of her husband,” Ryker said, pushing Fiona behind him protectively.

Nico sneered at him.

“Her husband? Fiona is mine and I must have her, now get out of here before I break your legs!”
