Chapter 2

Jamie stepped outside of the office and leaned on the wall , Everything that just happened seemed like a joke to him , He had treated Leah with so much love , Even now he was in debts because he had borrowed a lot to help with her mother’s surgery and even her education, They both lived on his resources and now that she was wealthy , She was divorcing him to marry off someone else in the space of one month that she was gone .

Jamie wasn’t going to let her take his son , Although she claimed that he wouldn’t be able to take care of their son , He thought otherwise. He couldn’t trust Leah now because she never said anything relating to their divorce and now that she became wealthy, She divorced him .

“ Dad ! Do you like our new home ?” Austin ran to where Jamie stood , He was still in deep shock and taken aback by what had just happened.

“ Austin, This isn’t our home … Come on let’s go” Jamie stuttered.

“ Daddy … But mom said this was going to my new room, Look … She even made preparations “ Austin said .

Jamie looked at his son , His eyes were teary he was trying his best not to break down in front of his son but Austin wasn’t helping him.

“ Austin, How about we talk about it at home “

“ Let him go ! Austin…. Come here “ Leah walked in , She dragged Austin’s arm and kept him behind her .

“ Leah … don’t do this in front of Austin “ Jamie pleased but Leah didn’t listen instead she started to insult and yell at Jamie .

“ What Home are you talking about? Look around you … Austin deserves to grow up with me in this mansion and not in that small creepy house , Austin do you like it here ?” Leah asked and the little boy nodded . Jamie clenched his fist he didn’t want to let out his anger in front of his child

“ Austin can you excuse mummy and daddy, There is a water spring outside while don’t you wait for me there “ Jamie said and Austin turned to leave .

“ Austin stay …” Leah cut in but Austin had already ran out , Jamie slammed the door and he turned to Leah .

“ Leah … What exactly is wrong ? Didn’t I try my best to give you and Jamie the best life … I sold off all my inheritance and even got broke trying to pay your tuition fee and remember how I got a loan for your mother surgery ! I can keep on going on and on but suddenly now that you got what you wanted , Leah we fought and struggled together to get you here but is this how you treat me ?” Jamie still looked doubtful but his words were cold .

“ Hey you ! Now listen to me because I won’t say this again after all you already signed the papers so automatically we are divorced… I offered you the house we bought together, Sell it and whatsoever you get take it , That’s my way of paying you for what you did for me “ Leah screamed with annoyance.

“ I bought that house with my money ! Your mother took all the money you even contributed when I met her so automatically that house belongs to me … Leah is this all that matters to you , We have fought together for 10 years … People will point fingers and mock at me , Is that what you want ?”

“ Jamie …You are already a laughing stock , Don’t kid yourself, Is it money you want ? Do you want me to repay you for all you have done tell me , I can do it after all I have the money to do it” Leah glared at him and Jamie fell on his knee , He wanted to plead with her .

“ Leah… Please don’t leave me, Please , Think about what I’m going to do without you , You and Austin are my only family … Think about what this divorce is going to do to Austin “

“ Too late Jamie , You already signed the paper and that’s all I need , I’m taking Austin with me “ Leah frowned, She grabbed the key and opened the door that Jamie had locked.

“ Security! Take this man out of here and I don’t want to ever set my eyes on him again!” Leah screamed.

Jamie stood confused and embarrassed, Two men came in and dragged him outside, While jamie was dragged outside his eyes met with Austin whom Leah held tight in her arms , He was kicking and crying as they dragged Jamie out, The tears that Jamie had been holding in finally came gushing down as he saw his son wept for him , This was probably the last time he was going to see his son and it made him sad .

“ And stay out ! If you ever set foot in this house again, You will pay with your head “ The men pushed Jamie outside and he stood up , He didn’t want to fight back because he was holding it in and he didn’t want to violent in front of his son .

Jamie casually started to walk down the aisle, He realized that this was a wealthy estate , All the houses were of exquisite architecture, He sighed and he looked back at Leah’s apartment, He was never going to come back here again but he was going to surely be back for his son .

“ Let me go !”

Jamie heard a man scream and it draw his attention, He followed the noise and he was met with a dreadful scene , This man was being assaulted.

“ Hey dumb heads ! Leave that man alone !” Jamie yelled , He just found a better way to vent his anger .

In the dimly lit alley, Jamie's senses heightened as he heard the muffled cries of an old man. With swift determination, he rounded the corner, finding three assailants closing in on their victim.

“ Let him go this minute !” Jamie yelled clenching his fist and the men pushed the old man to a corner , His backs slamming the waste bin , Jamie immediately ran to where the man was laying and Jamie helped him up .

“ Heyyy !!! Don’t you have manners ?” Jamie frowned at them and they started to laugh .

“ Who is this weakling? Do you want to die ?” The first guy yelled and Jamie laughed .

“ Weakling? Do you want to find out ?” Jamie clenched his fist .

Jamie's eyes narrowed, his martial arts instincts kicking in.

A harsh exchange of words echoed through the narrow space as Jamie confronted the assailants. "Leave him be," he commanded, his voice firm and unwavering. The attackers scoffed, laughter filled with malice, but Jamie remained undeterred.

The first assailant lunged, but Jamie effortlessly sidestepped, delivering a precise strike that sent him sprawling to the ground. The second attacker, fueled by rage, swung wildly, but Jamie evaded with calculated grace, countering with a series of well-placed kicks and punches.

As the third assailant attempted a sneak attack from behind, Jamie sensed the movement and smoothly disarmed him. The alley became a battleground, Jamie's movements a dance of controlled power.

Amidst the chaos, Jamie's attention never wavered from protecting the old man. With strategic precision, he incapacitated the assailants, rendering them incapable of further harm. The old man, grateful and relieved, watched as Jamie stood victorious.

“ If you bother this old man again! I will make sure you never walk with those legs again, Now run along “ Jamie commanded and they ran out with fear .

“ Are you okay ?” Jamie helped the man up, The man looked up at Jamie and he smiled .

“ Let’s take you to the hospital, Are you hurt? Should I call 911?” Jamie asked the man but he smiled .

“ No … I’m fine , Help me up … That’s my house right there while don’t we go in and talk , I need to pay you for your good work” The man said and Jamie smiled .

“ I used to be in the military, This is why we serve to protect citizens like you , I can help you inside your home “ Jamie held the man by his wrist and lead him inside, Jamie was amazed by the building, It was not in the same level of Leah’s apartment, Jamie immediately deduced that he had just helped a billionaire, Although he didn’t care about the wealth status he wondered why an old man like him didn’t have any bodyguard.

“ I think you should get a personal bodyguard or someone that can protect you because it’s not safe “ Jamie contributed helping the man open the hallway doors .

“ Hmmm I guess I should , I didn’t think it was necessary to walk with security since I was strolling around the estate but I think he really wants me dead “ The old man laughed and Jamie glared at him .

“ You know who did this?”

“ I can only guess who it is and I really hope my prediction isn’t true “

“ Grandpa ! “ A fine lady rushed down the stairs, She was a beautiful lady with chestnut brown hair , Her curves were visible even though she was wearing a jean , She hurriedly checked on her grand father and noticed his scratches.

“ What happened to you ?” She asked

“ It’s nothing honey, Thanks to this young man that found me and saved me life”

“ Who is he ?”
