Chapter Seven

Maxwell woke up to a knock on his door and he staggered to get door while wiping his sleepy face with palm.

He met Matty smiling elegantly in front of the door and he opened it wide for her to enter.

"Good morning Sir..."Matty greeting him warmly still wearing the large smile and he wondered if she could ever stop smiling.

" Good morning, Ma'am " Maxwell greeted back in a cracked voice that announced that he was has just woken up from sleep some seconds ago.

" I hope you had a goodnight rest... sir" Matty asked further.

"Yes... I did and thanks for the food last night" He replied sitting on the bed with his gaze fixed on the lady.

"It's my pleasure, sir.." She replied "Mr Wilson has ordered that we bring you down for some important assignment... I hope you're aware of that sir" She said further staring at him in a manner that showed a little concern.

"Oh.. Yes, Definitely" Maxwell said in response.

He stood up from the bed and walked towards the bathroom.

"I'll just use the bathroom and I'll be there in a few minute" She said to Matty who just stood there smiling at him.

The way she smiled somehow made him feel uncomfortable.

He was not used to people smiling at him at way except his parents.

He couldn't stop wondering why the elderly woman would not take the smile off her face while speaking to him.

He waved the thought off and moved into the shower.

After quick bath, he came out to the room and again there's was a tray of food on the table and a folded gray suit neatly placed on the bed.

He sat down on the bed and had the breakfast of chocolate tea and a few slices of bread.

Immediately he was done eating, he began to put on the clothes that was left there for him.

The gray pants, sky blue shirt and matching gray jacket fit him perfect.

He has never wore something so fitting and expensive before.

He took the brown tie and tried to knot it but it he couldn't do it well enough.

After two failed attempts on knotting the tie, he was grateful when Matty walked in.

"In finding it difficult to knot this perfectly" Maxwell said to her and she gave out the same kind of smile again.

She walked over to him and helped him knot the tie.

She did it expertise and Maxwell was quick enough to observe how she did the thing that gave him a hard time to do.

He took the hair brush that laid with other item on a small shelf thar hung on the wall with a mirrow above and brushed his hair neatly.

"Sir Wilson asked me to give you this" Matty said handing over a brown envelop to him which Maxwell took with a look of confusion on his face.

He decided not to open it yet until he's met with Wilson.

In a few minutes, he was ready to leave the room. He stepped out with the envelope on his right hand looking extremely handsome.

He met Wilson in the living room and they both went outside towards a white car parked in front of the building.

The journey to the lawyers office was farther than Maxwell has expected.

It was over an hour drive from the Wilson's Mansion and Maxwell could not stop wondering why Wilson's lawyer was so far from him.

It was a very quiet ride and Wilson never said a word to him as they drove down.

The tyred road looked very neat and Maxwell kept watching the imaginary curves it gave from a distance.

He looked at the beautiful stops and houses that stood beautifully by the roadside.

The billboards and adverts that kept displaying on the top of some buildings.

They drove pass a large market place and that was the busiest area Maxwell had seen in his entire life.

The market which he visited with his mother around his town wasn't as the busy as the one they just past.

Maxwell enjoying the beautiful sight until the vehicle halted before a really tall building.

He has read about skyscraper buildings on books but has seen one before and this looked exactly like one.

Mr Wilson got off from the car and he did the same.

They both walked into a box-like room and Wilson pressed some digits on the wall.

The door closed and Maxwell could fell his it moving upwards.

The thought that this was the elevator that his dad once described to him clouded his mind and he smiled within him.

The elevator stopped moving and the door opened immediately.

Maxwell stepped out with Wilson who has still not said anything to him.

He followed him as he walked toward a room and hit the ring button on the wall.

"Come in" They heard a voice say from inside the room.

Wilson opened the door and they both walked in.

They met a man siting on an office chair behind a table.

The man stood up and exchange a hand shake with Wilson who was now smiling and greeting back.

The man said hello to Maxwell and Maxwell nodded in response.

He wondered why Wilson was being cold to him today but the thought disappeared when the man led them into a larger room with a long table and chairs around it.

There was a writing on a wall the read "Meeting room" and Maxwell immediately understood what it was.

He took a sit on the left side of the table while Wilson sat on the right side directly opposite him.

The man who Maxwell now believed to be the lawyer sat on the edge chair facing them both.

Maxwell heart was racing but he was able to maintain his calmness while listening for the next action to take.

"This is just the beginning" He said to himself moving his gaze from Wilson to the lawyer who were both scanning the pages of a book.
