Chapter 3: Catalyst

Ted walks in with two glasses of water. “Drink then talk slowly. What exactly do you want from my grandfather?” Freddy asked the two girls.

 “I heard he is the only one who can heal our grandfather,”one of the girls said. 

“But how, our grandfather is sick?” Ted interrupted.

“Ted, can you excuse us for a bit?” Freddy asked suddenly. Ted was surprised and wanted to question but decided to obey. 

“Ladies, my brother wasn't lying when he said my grandpa is sick. Why don't you take your grandfather to the hospital?” Freddy asked. 

The two girls stared at each other before one of them gathered the courage. 

“Actually we have, he even has a doctor currently taking care of him at the moment but nothing has changed. 

I once heard about your grandfather from mine. He had told me that he is an expert at healing and some form of catalyst.” She said as Freddy took a deep breath in and was a bit confused about what to tell the girls. 

“Give me a minute, ladies.” He said as he went to check with Mr. Louis. He told him about the two girls and what they wanted. 

Mr. Louis remembered someone he had healed once with two daughters. 

“Oh, that must be Mr. Delbrose.” He said still coughing. 

“Freddy, I need you to go on my behalf. This would be your first practical lesson.” He added.

“But grandpa, I am not sure I am ready yet. What if…?” 

“There are no what if's. Just remember what you’ve learnt.

The more you practice the more perfect you become Freddy.” He said, trying to encourage him. 

“Freddy one more thing, it's very important. No one sees you while you treat them, not the patient nor anyone else.” He said before Freddy left but he had more he wanted to say which he held back.

Freddy went back to the living room to join the girls. He looked at them for a while before saying.

 “I will help you.” The two girls turned back surprised. 

“Will you help us?” They asked again to confirm what he had just said. 

“Yes, I will go with you. My grandfather isn't well but I am also a doctor. I will help you.” He said with more confidence than before. 

The two girls, unsure at first, looked at each other like they had no other choice. “Ok then. My name is Sophia and this is Naomi Delbrose. 

Would you be able to follow us back to our house, we can't bring him here because he is unconscious and currently undergoing treatment.” One of the girls said. 

“Freddy are you leaving?” Ted asked as he overheard their last conversation. 

“Yes Ted. I trust you to take care of grandpa and yes you can still go to school just be back on time.” Freddy added. 

He could see a stressed look on his brother's face. “Don't worry you will be fine.” He added.

Freddy packed the little load he had and followed the girls. 

At the Delbrose mansion. Freddy was baffled and wondered how his grandfather knew such a man. After looking around for a while he asked 

“Please take me to Mr. Delbrose’s room. I need to examine him.” The two girls led him to the room. 

“Please could everyone excuse me for a while.” He said as he shut the door. 

Everyone waited impatiently as Freddy was there for about 2 hours.

He checked Mr. Delbrose thoroughly and noticed that he was in a deep coma. 

Freddy came back out and asked Naomi to give him Mr. Delbrose medical file. 

“Oh the file is with Dr. Dris. He is the doctor who treated our grandpa before.” She replied suddenly remembering. 

“He will be here anytime from now. He was supposed to be here earlier but I don't know why he is running late.” As soon as she finished saying this Sophia came in with Dr. Dris.

 “Dr. Dris this is Dr. Freddy. He would be taking over grandpa for now.” Sophia added. 

“Are you sure about this Sophia? This Dr. Freddy, what hospital does he work?” He asked, looking at Freddy in the most disgusted way.

 “Good afternoon, I used to work at Wholeness Hospital but right now I work in a private practice. 

“Wholeness? Wholeness you say? Such a small hospital compared to St Clifford.” He said as he chuckled.

 “Were you the chief of residence or supervisor?” He asked further. 

“No, I was just a doctor.” Freddy replied. 

Immediately Dr. Dris turned towards Sophia and Naomi. “This guy was just a doctor. You seriously want to trust your grandfather's health with him. Does he even have any experience at all with a license for a private practice?” He asked as he chuckled. 

Sophia and Naomi felt a bit uncertain and began to doubt that Freddy was actually capable of healing their grandfather.

“Do you have a license?” Naomi asked suddenly. 

Freddy, not sure how to answer, knew that if he didn't answer right they wouldn't trust him. 

“Actually I do.” He replied knowing fully well he doesn't have a private practice license.

“Well that's settled. He said he has a license.” Naomi replied to Dr. Dris but Dr. Dris doesn't believe him. 

“Ok then since you have a license show it to me.” Dr. Dris added. 

Freddy immediately got scared. He knew he might be caught with his little lie. 

Sophia and Naomi turned towards Freddy waiting for him to show the license. 

“Actually the license isn't here with me. Sophia and Naomi were in such a rush to get me here that I forgot my license.” He replied quickly.

 Dr. Dris still didn't believe it. “Well I am sorry Dr. Freddy but I can't give you the permit to treat Mr. Delbrose as you are unable to prove you are a real doctor.” He replied

“I am a doctor.” Freddy replied now getting a bit pissed by Dr. Dris constant deframing as he showed him pictures of him working in the hospital 

Sophia and Naomi were a bit confused. 

“Please, I need you to trust me. Just give me one week and if your grandfather doesn't recover, I will be responsible for anything that happens to him.” Freddy said confidently. 

Sophia and Naomi were surprised by his level of confidence. “Do you know what that means? You're going to lose your license.” Sophia said frightened of him.

“I am sure he is. I agree with that. You have one week to try but if Mr. Delbrose doesn't get better or dies you will not only lose your license but also be put in jail. Do

you understand Dr. Freddy?” Dr. Dris asked with a smirk. 

“I do and I accept.” Freddy said, shaking a little.
