Chapter 67

Sophia looked around the empty penthouse, her heart heavy with worry. Alex had been unreachable for two days and hadn't come home.

Their wedding was only four days away. Usually, she would see his smiling face waiting for her at home, dinner prepared, or he would show up at her office to share lunch.

But lately, there had been nothing.

Her parents and family had started to interfere, their doubts and accusations weighing on her mind.

"Sophia, that man is ashamed he can't hold the grandest wedding, so he ran away!" her mother had yelled two days ago.

Yesterday, her father brought Victoria to pressure Sophia into signing divorce papers.

"Why are you suddenly on their side?" Sophia asked Victoria, her voice trembling. "Aren't you my best friend? You promised to help me."

Victoria looked apologetically at Sophia. "I want to tell you a secret. After you know it, you will surely change your mind."

"What?" Sophia's confusion deepened.

"Jerry Deneuve is not a Jerry Deneuve!" Victoria exclaime
