Chapter 10

Three cars pulled up in front of the Cadenn family's house, and several bodyguards in black suits stepped out one by one. They greeted Gilbert respectfully, leaving Mae and Azalea bewildered. They were puzzled by the presence of such high-profile guests and wondered why they addressed Gilbert as Mr. Huxley. The sight of Bentley and Panamera cars added to their astonishment. Gilbert, a disabled man, was equally perplexed, as he had few connections in Texas City. Scott Kane from Kane Medicine approached Gilbert and invited him for a chat at his house, leaving Azalea in utter shock. She took a deep breath, trying to process the unexpected turn of events.

Kane Medicine was a well-known company in Texas City, and Scott, a member of its board of directors, had a strong reputation. The Cadenn family was much less influential than Kane Medicine. Azalea wondered why Scott personally invited Gilbert. She remembered Mae saying that the elixir Gilbert sent to Scott was actually poisonous. Azalea couldn't comprehend why Scott was so polite to Gilbert. Mae blushed and remained silent. Despite his wealth and status in Texas City, his presence was not considered significant.

Gilbert was the first Northwest warrior, and he later became a major. He matured at a young age and had previously wielded wealth and power. "Please don't reject me," he pleaded. Seeing Gilbert's silence, Scott felt a bit uneasy but maintained his composure.

"Gilbert, you should go fetch Mr. Kane's blenny," Azalea suggested after some thought. "Okay, I'll follow your advice and go." Gilbert agreed. He nodded slowly and then steered his wheelchair towards the car.

Two bodyguards dressed in black quickly approached and gently pushed Gilbert's wheelchair.

Mr. Kane, may I ask why you wanted to see Gilbert?" Azalea gathered her courage and asked Scott, suppressing her nervousness.

"Well, I need Mr. Huxley's help with some matters," Scott replied.

"Thank you for his assistance, Miss Cadenn. I hope the Cadenn family can cooperate with us in the future," Scott said, grinning, before he climbed into the car.

"It's not convenient to walk. Please take excellent care of him. If something happens, you can call me, and I'll be there," Azalea bravely said to Scott.

"Please trust us. We will take excellent care of Mr. Huxley," she added. Scott smiled again and helped Gilbert into the car.

The three cars left in an instant. However, Azalea turned around and looked at Mae.

"Mom, don't you have anything to tell me?"

Azalea glanced at Mae, scowling, and inquired calmly.

Azalea wasn't naive. Scott's behavior towards Gilbert made Azalea suspect that Mae might be lying to him. "What am I supposed to say?"

Mae blushed and questioned Azalea.

If Gilbert truly gave Scott a poisonous elixir, would Mr. Kane still be polite to Gilbert?

Azalea glanced at Mae and inquired, lightly clenching her teeth.

"How would I know? Perhaps Kane Medicine is interested in developing such a poison. He might not even be aware." Mae's face turned red as she began to argue irrationally.

Azalea shook her head and entered the mansion.

We'll know when Gilbert gets back," Azalea said before heading to her room. Meanwhile, Mae remained motionless, feeling a growing sense of bitterness and questioning whether

The elixir Gilbert had was truly extraordinary. "Can a single elixir match the power of the Killian family in Texas?" she pondered.

In Mae's mind, Dylan was the ideal son-in-law.

"I need your help with a little problem in the car, Mr. Huxley," Scott finally spoke up after a few moments of silence. He didn't see Gilbert as a miracle doctor, but he trusted Hayes' words and was willing to give it a try.

However, Gilbert remained silent. He had always been a man of few words since childhood, but he spoke more in front of Azalea.

"I believe you must be a medical expert, Mr. Huxley," Scott said, trying to engage Gilbert in conversation.

Gilbert responded with a simple "a bit" and then nodded a few seconds later.

"Please help me, Mr. Huxley. Mr. Kane, who is elderly, has been experiencing discomfort and incurable disease for three years, and no doctor has been able to cure him," Scott pleaded.

Scott's voice carried a sense of urgency as he continued, "Did you say that the elixir I provided was poisonous?"

Gilbert looked at Scott coldly, remembering the accusation.

"What? I didn't do it," he denied.

"The elixir you gave me was a rare treasure, not poison. How could it be poisonous?" Gilbert clarified.

Scott was initially surprised and then quickly explained. Upon hearing this, Gilbert nodded in agreement. Gilbert firmly believed that Scott was speaking the truth, as Mae wouldn't have invited him otherwise. This indicated that Mae was lying and that her intention was to kick Gilbert out.

"Mr. Huxley, please help me. You are our family's last hope," Scott implored respectfully, observing Gilbert's expression. Gilbert responded coldly, expressing disinterest in dealing with old Mr. Kane.

"Well, Mr. Huxley, they say a doctor should have a good heart," Scott pleaded. Please help us, or the old master will die." Gilbert retorted sarcastically, questioning why he should care about others' lives and help Scott. Gilbert added, "Should a doctor have a kind heart?

I am more than a doctor.

With the silver needle in my left hand and the guardian sword in my right, I can save people, but I can also kill." Scott was momentarily

I was stunned by Gilbert's response, but quickly offered to pay him, asking for his price.

Gilbert hesitated for a moment before responding. He realized the gravity of the situation and its impact on Azalea's family. He sighed inwardly, acknowledging his role in the Cadenn family's departure. He had become a laughingstock in Texas City, but he knew he had to do the right thing.

Gilbert, a brilliant man, decided to help the Cadenn family. Thinking of their plight, he waved his hand and quietly said, "It's my pleasure to help."

Scott, relieved by Gilbert's agreement, instantly made promises of gratitude. Gilbert nodded in acknowledgment but remained silent. Despite Scott's doubts, Gilbert's willingness to assist the Cadenn family was genuine.

Scott questioned Gilbert's ability to cure old Mr. Kane, wondering if Gilbert was truly confident in his abilities.

"Mr. Huxley seems confident." Scott hesitated before speaking to Gilbert again.

"If I can't cure him, you should start preparing for the old lord's funeral."

Kane spoke quietly. Gilbert looked ahead and remained silent.
